[ Chapter XI (11): "HOGWARTS LETTER FOR MS. SINGH" ]
In New York; about two children have been given the chance to study at Hogwarts— one of them is Ms. Mullein. In the United States of America alone; overall about 34 students have been given the chance to study at Hogwarts.
And in a span of a day or two, thanks to the efficiency of the Messenger Owls that have decided to be stationed in the USA— some which are not tired yet and decided to fly to the closest country, to deliver the other letters.
You see, the 21 Messenger Owls talked and communicated amongst themselves, as the workaholics delivered Hogwarts Letter left and right— staying only in one place for a few minutes before flying off to another house.
Currently one of the tired-looking Owls was tasked to deliver a Hogwarts Letter in the Republic of India... Not just it alone, but also three others which are already flying over the cities of India to deliver about the students' Hogwarts Letters. In total there is about 21 Hogwarts Letter in their person, split evenly as they could.
Having split away from its peers, for the past three days it had delivered about 4 of the letters that it was holding within its pouch.
And currently, it now only has about 1 left— so of course, savoring its work time; the Owl decided to fly steadily, and instead observe the scenery that it has been neglecting under for days.
It widens its eyes in appreciation. The ocean of people, all wearing colorful clothes being seen by the Owl which span for miles and miles without end.
Vehicles of many varieties showering its view, and many establishments blaring colorful lights that attracted the Messenger Owl which pass by in the night sky.
The Owl relishes in this moment before finally flying down to one of the tree branches that it notices; the radar embedded inside it alerts that the desired recipient is near.
And right it is as the Owl quickly spotted a young 11-year light skinned girl in a bedroom filled to the brim with maps, relics, and antiques. Beside the said young girl is an older gentleman pointing to a map on the wooden desk in front of them; teaching her.
[ "Oh dear, you see Kiran this one here connects to a secret passageway only a handful of individuals know about this passageway." ]
[ "Appa...?" ]
[ "Yes, Kiran is there a problem?" ]
The Owl watches as how the young girl looks down at the floor, arms behind her arm; and it could swear seeing beads of tears threatening to fall from the side of her eyes; what has the Owl just flown into?
The Messenger Owl doesn't know, but it watches with anticipation and worries about the ongoing discussion between the father and daughter pair.
[ "A-are you a-and Amma gonna leave for tomorrow?" ]
[ "Yes, Kiran... Sadly." ]
[ "Please, don't." ]
The words spoken by the father and daughter pair could be understood by the watcher Owl. As for them, for the Messenger Owls at the very least, they could understand any and all spoken language. A feature that makes them work much more efficiently.
[ "Kiran..." ]
[ "P-please do-don't leave me, Appa." ]
Kiran Singh lowers her head, trying her best not to show her father her crying face; dearly hoping that this attempt would make her father, and mother stay for the day tomorrow at the very least.
For tomorrow there would be an event to her school; a parent-children day that includes sports that she dearly wants to try with her father and mother.
But just like what happened earlier, a day before, and the day before that; with her father and mother, both being professional and renowned Archeologists reluctantly disagreeing, even though both parents want to stay with their daughter.
[ "K-kiran..." ]
[ "I-I'm sorry... I'm so-so sorry." ]
Both the father and Kiran knew the answer, which made her ball her eyes out. Tears freely streaming down her face as she tries to forcefully stop the snots from running down her nose; [ "Appa..." ]
Not being able to stand it, Mr. Singh knows the financial status that their family has— especially because they are now drowning in debt, couldn't help but be saddened by their situation.
And instead of making reasons to his daughter, he instead embraced her in a hug that hopefully assures her that everything would be alright.
[ "Appa is sorry, my baby. Appa is sorry..." ]
[ "L-liar!" ]
[ "Shh, shh... Appa and Amma will make it up to you— we promise... We promise." ]
Seeing this scenery, the Owl that couldn't handle drama. Especially in now seeing one happen, flaps into the room as silently as it could.
Worry evident to the Owl's face as it resides on the podium of a weird wooden giant Owl totem, that slightly resembles it with a little artistic liberty.
The Owl watches as Mr. Singh wipes the tear from her daughter's eyes, and reassures her repeatedly. The latter not believing, but also wanting to believe...
As they both walk out the dimly lit study room, and instead go to the warm glowy dining room ahead with Mrs. Singh busily cooking dinner for the family of three.
Worried in seeing her baby girl cry, she rushed over still wearing an apron. Wiping the tears away from her one and only daughter's face— before then interrogating the patriarch of the family, which looks guilty in response...
Then the door closed, leaving the lone Messenger Owl inside the study room. It wanted to rush over to the family of three, but also not wanting to ruin their family bonding; so it didn't.
And instead waited for the right opportunity... And that right opportunity seemingly came in the form of the Owl not giving the Hogwarts Letter personally to the daughter— but instead in the form of leaving it somewhere for her to find.
Using its radar-like superpowers, the Owl flew out and window and tried searching for the young girl's bedroom. Wherein it would then leave the letter...
Trying its best not to hit a tree, or a wire, or a random banner. The Owl finally found the room in which she lives in, albeit with difficulty due to the way their house has been built; but nonetheless the Owl have found it, and flew into it.
A heavily decorated room that presented it... For a second the Owl wondered if this was the right room, and not the mother's...
But in seeing photos of the young girl plastered all throughout the room, in different stages of her life, it then realized that yes, this is Ms. Singh's room.
Observing the room silently, the Owl looks around, navigating its claws as to not damage a single bedsheet, or a single toy laid out on the ground... Before finally it found the right place to drop the letter in— which is the study table filled with maps.
Like father like daughter, the Owl guess.
It then rummages with its beak the small brown pouch inside it, easily finding the package intended for the young girl; and that would be her Hogwarts Letter, complete with her name.
Her address, and the Hogwarts Logo which is animated— a lion, a snake, a badger, and an eagle flying in each corner of the circle...
Funnily enough, to the Owls, they at first thought it was a raven, or a crow that is embedded on the farthest bottom right of the circle— which they were wrong in thinking.
Funny birds.
The Owl panicked in hearing footsteps outside the room, which was then followed by the creaking of the doorknobs... Thankfully the Owl reacted quickly, survival instinct, and shyness in being found in a little girl's room overtaking it, as it flew outside the window; pouching itself on a neon banner outside.
[ "Hey, what's... this?" ]
[ "Hogwarts...?" ]
[ "I-it's moving!" ]
[ "A-APPA, A-AMMA!" ]
The Owl watches as how the once saddened girl turned to excitement as she found her Hogwarts Letter. The content of it hopefully is enough to permanently turn the little girl's frown into joy— especially because the Owl hates seeing anyone sad.
So with one last chirp, the Owl flew up about to go home.
Home wherein it hopes it'll meet the future students of Hogwarts into. Especially to the children it had delivered the letters too— in total 5.
The rest are just bonuses.
