Chapter 14 - Nothing But A Trash

While on the call, a knock sounded on Jessica's door. The banging was so loud that it even got her five-year-old, Caspian, woked up—scared.

"Who's that?" Jessica snapped angrily, her hands still gripping tight on the phone she had been holding previously, making the call with Hazel. She rolled on her wheelchair, went to the door, then opened it. Opening the door, Abigail barged in.

"What's taking you so long to open the door? And by the way, who are you even talking with on the phone?" she asked, glaring at Jessica with a dagger gaze. "Don't tell me it's that witch of a lady called Hazel," Abigail added with a frown on her face, chuckling.

"Well, I'm here to inform you about the party," Abigail said after some moment, moving her hands over Jessica's wheelchair as she stood behind her.

"Party? Party for what?" Jessica asked, confused.

"Well, the party is actually for the steel manufacturing company. I want to celebrate the breakthrough we have. You well know that if it wasn't for Derick, everything would have just been taken away from us. Imagine that big company shut down for some silly reasons we don't even know about. So, it's worth celebrating that the worst didn't happen," Abigail said, exhaling with satisfaction.

Hearing what Abigail said, a glimpse of happiness hit Jessica. But at the same time, she wasn't happy—she was halfway sad, and the reason was that Abigail had done something she shouldn't. She had sacked someone she shouldn't have—someone that had been there for Jessica all through her hard times, acting like the mother she had never gotten.

"Why is your face like this?" Abigail said, noticing Jessica's pale look. Looking like she wasn't happy about the news she just told her. "Ohhhh, are you angry because that good-for-nothing witch had left the mansion? Well, it serves her right," Abigail chuckled with a sarcastic smirk on her lips.

Just as Abigail was about to walk out of the room, Jessica's voice sounded. "But why, step mom? Why didn't you tell me before taking such a decision?" Jessica asked, her face darted to anger.

Abigail turned and looked at Jessica. "What's your suggestion then? Do you want to go with her?"

"What do you mean, step mom? I don't understand," Jessica protested.

"I said, do you want to join her so I send you packing out of the house as well? If yes, just let me know. By the way, you have no use here anymore," Abigail responded. Reaching to the door, she shifted her gaze to Jessica, who was glaring at her with a daze. She couldn't believe what Abigail said—it was so unbelievable.

"And secondly, please don't join the new chef I employed to cook for me again. She complained that she can't stand your smelling body. She said you stink, and I can't stand someone that stinks, smells, to prepare something for me that's going into my stomach. Oh God, that's disgusting, so pleased do yourself a good and stay away from my kitchen."
