Chapter 4 - Good-Bye

I couldn't believe it. Ambrose was kissing me... he freaking kissed me! After all his talk about how he didn't want anything to do with me, he had my naked body trapped against his as he kissed me and let his hands roam my body. I had to do something before it escalated and did something we both would regret. I didn't know anything about him, and I sure wasn't about to sleep with him without that knowledge. I was a lot of things, but sleeping with a stranger wasn't one of them.

I didn't care if we were mates. I didn't know anything about him and wasn't about to give myself to the asshole. I had to stop this, especially now since his hand had found itself between my legs, toying with my treasure. Without a thought, I dug my nails into his back, causing him to drop me like a sack of bricks.

"Damnit Chantal! You could have pushed me away! What is it with you?"

"With Me?! Weren't you the one who kissed me after you said you wanted nothing between us? What's up with that?" He was crazy. I could see it with how he glared down at me, shaking his head like I had done something. I also could hear his thoughts while he cursed and called himself stupid.

"You're fucking with my head— this whole thing is messing with my head. I'm sorry. Please get ready so we can leave. I also want you to be aware that after tonight, your Mother will not remember that she had a daughter. So, make sure you tell her how much you love her."

"I was listening to Cepheus. I only want you to keep up your end of the bargain. Make sure my mom will never hurt for money again." Besides listening, Ambrose's eyes ran over my body, causing me to cover myself with my hand before he nodded.

"You have my word. Now, get dressed before I lose whatever little control I have." It made me look down at his hard member and back at his smirk before I left for the other side of the room while he went into the bathroom laughing. He probably thought I was a virgin, but that ship sailed after I let Trey talk me into having sex with him a long time ago, but I didn't sleep around like most my age.

However, I hurried to get dressed and sat in a chair near the window, looking over the woods. I could see things differently now, and it was beautiful. Maybe being a vamp wasn't too bad. I was already in love with the way the lights danced in the distance, but it was weird that I was able to hear people talking from miles away and their hearts beating. I didn't realize I was becoming hungry until a cup was shoved into my face.

"He hasn't fed you. That stupid ass boy! Brose has to understand that you have to adjust; you cannot feed once a day as we do. The next time, he forgets, feed on him. It won't kill him, but it will stop you from the blood lust or running off, killing someone or, worse, turning someone feral. Remember, I only let you live because he fucked up and made you his mate. If I kill you, it will kill him, and I will not harm my son."

I stared at Cepheus; he was a beautiful man, but he was lying about something. I didn't believe one bit that he was keeping me alive because of Ambrose, but that was what he wanted us to believe. However, that was something we would have to figure out. But I was mesmerized by how the moonlight shimmered off him. He didn't smile, but when he noticed me staring, his soft hands touched my chin. I was scared but also under the spell of his authority, even though he wasn't my master.

"T-thank you— but I don't know what to call you." He chuckled as he gave me a glimpse of his fangs.

"Fuck you are so beautiful— If I would have made you mine."

"What?"

"Don't worry about my rumbling. I would have preferred for you to call me your master in more ways than one— but it seems Ambrose claimed what has always been his." I stared at him, clueless as his smile. I felt like I was under a spell as he kneeled to my level, smelling my neck before running his tongue along my jawline when Ambrose burst through the door with his eyes glowing.

"You can call me what Ambrose does. Father, since you will be with him for eternity. I have faith in you, and he will pull off something my beloved and I couldn't. It was sad that she was killed over something people will never understand. Trust me, you will find out that no matter where you go, humans are the stupidest creatures on this earth. They killed my love because they thought she was a creature of the night. She was human, but Brose turned his love without knowing." He said as he left a kiss on my cheek.

"You forgot to feed her. You should know when she needs to be fed. I know you can feel her hunger growing within her. Don't forget again, or you will be her meal."

"It's not like her crazy ass hasn't already bitten me, and it hadn't healed yet. Come, Chantal." It was unbelievable how I moved like a dog to his command. I didn't like the feeling as I stopped right in front of his tall frame. Gently, Brose caressed my face and kissed my forehead. I know it was all an act for Cepheus and for what he saw. "Lick where you bit me."

"Have you lost it? I will not!"

"Lick it!" He demanded as I looked back at Cepheus watching us. He looked mad but continued to watch what I would do. However, Ambrose turned my head back to him as he lifted me like I weighed nothing as I wrapped my legs around his waist. After I gently kissed his shoulder, causing him to grab my butt as I sucked the place I bit him, then ran my tongue across the holes. Ambrose moaned while Cepheus cleared his throat.

"You don't have to put on a show for me. I understand she is yours, Ambrose, but you have an hour and a half before you leave. You need to get going and do what is needed since I instructed them to leave, whether with you or not. You have a lot to learn about each other. So, stop thinking you can outrun your destiny, Brose."

"Destiny? What the hell—"

"Ah, will you look at the time? You two better be leaving. The time is ticking." Just like that, Cepheus was gone, leaving us alone while he slowly placed me back on my feet, touching his neck. Although, I never knew anything moved that fast until tonight. Still, I believed he was hiding something, and his actions showed it. But none of it mattered since we were on our way to see my mom. I was happy he was giving me the chance to see her one last time.

"This is where you live?"

"Yeah, is there something wrong?" It was the hood, but the apartments were nice. The only problem was the crime in the area. Nevertheless, Ambrose acted as if something was bothering him. "Look, if you don't want to—"

"That's not it, but I cannot allow you to go any further than this. I didn't save you for you to die all over again. This is werewolf territory, and it's deadly for newly turned vamps. I'll go, but you need to stay put, and I mean it if you get out of this car once it is parked. I will not help you, and I mean it, Chantal. It will be your punishment."

Chantal saw me as being mean to her, but I didn't want her harmed. It was best for me to go in after I learned everything I needed about her mother. At the same time, I made sure to keep a low profile because I didn't want to acknowledge the werewolves. I knew they smelled me as I could sense them. They were everywhere, but they chose to ignore me. If Chantal had been with me, it would have been a different story. They would have felt her vulnerability and would have attacked. She would have been another vampire out of the way for them.

I couldn't let that happen; I knew if something had killed her. I would feel it and eventually die myself. Losing a mate would have killed me or drove me to kill myself. Even if I lived, a part of me would always be missing, but the true thing was. I didn't cope well with losing others. I doubt that anyone did. Plus, I already had issues and couldn't handle more. Therefore, I hoped Chantal would listen and stay in the car that I parked three blocks away as I finally made it to her mother's door, knocking twice, and waited for someone to answer when I felt a hand touch my side.

I sensed her, and it caused me to turn to her short figure quickly. "I told you to stay in the fucking car!"

"And I decided not to. No one bothered me, Brose. They know me, as you can see. I'm in one piece by your side."

She was something else and was going to be a hard-headed vamp to train, but I couldn't get distracted now. We had to get to the airport, and I sighed and threw up my hands when the door opened.

"Chantal! What the hell?! Where were you? We have been looking for you for days. Lacey, said you fell and hit your head." She cried, pulling out her phone.

"Don't! Look at me." I spoke as she did what I asked. "Give your daughter a long hug and a kiss on her forehead. This will be the last time you will ever see her again. You will go on thinking she's dead like the rest, but you will know the truth in your heart."

"Ambrose, I thought—" She started to say as I turned to her with glowing eyes. Chantal quickly bowed as I turned back to her mother.

"My Baby Girl! What's happening? Do your, Dad, know you're alive? Did he help with this?" Chantal didn't mention shit about her father, causing me to text Cepheus warning him about our new problem that he said he would handle, but I didn't expect to get pulled into the apartment as Shanice shut the door. Once behind the closed door, she hugged her daughter once more before I handed her a debit card with her name on it.

"What's this?"

"Mama, know you are set for life. I can't tell you much but know that I got into some trouble, and Ambrose helped me out. We didn't mean to kill Trey and his Boys, but he promised to protect me. I have to leave... I'm sorry, but I have to leave you sooner than I thought, but you will never have to worry about money again as I promised. Take the card and buy or build your dream home but know I will never stop loving you and Dad." Chantal cried, turning to me. She had me in my feelings for what I was about to do, although it was for the greater good.

"Do it. I don't want her hurting knowing I'm out there. Make her forget about me." My mouth opened as Shanice looked between us. I was conflicted, but it was what Chantal wanted. Therefore, I stepped forward and looked into the woman's eyes, then made her believe she was a self-made millionaire with two sons. One dead and the other in prison as I told her to move far away and never look back.

After Chantal and I left, but as I expected, we had to fight our way out of the complex. The wolves were waiting for her and didn't expect me. I knew for sure she was getting punished once we landed in Romania, but I needed to figure out how. However, I knew she wasn't going to like it.
