Chapter 7 - Fights

After a long night, Ambrose and I finally made it home as the sun was about to come up. However, I had a great time exploring the city with him. He took me to some of his favorite spots, and it was the only time I saw a genuine smile on his face, but each time we made eye contact, he would stare at me, confused. It had something to do with what Michael said, and I wasn't looking for him to have any sexual relationship with me. Still, I was concerned about what would happen if we didn't do what was needed. I was afraid I would become feral.

I read books about bloodlust vamps and if we were anything like them. I wouldn't want to live. It had to be another way around this one that didn't need Ambrose and I having sex. It was only a bite. Why did we need to have sex to cure my bloodlust? To me, Michael was buffing, trying to see how far we would go. He thought I was a virgin, but he was mistaken. I was eighteen, and maybe it wasn't good that I had experienced sex at a young age, but I was almost nineteen and wasn't a child. Still, I didn't think that was the problem. Ambrose had other things bothering him, and one of them was how we bonded. I could see he was the type of man who loved the pleasure of sleeping with who he liked.

I didn't want to stand in his way, but he was the one who insisted that I stay under him at all times. He didn't want me near Keir and Oliver or any other male. All night, he stood guard, warning other vamps away while he smiled and flirted with every female that passed. I believe he was trying to get me mad, but I wasn't about to be his shadow or pet. If Ambrose thought that he was wrong. I wasn't that girl.

Terrible things always happened to me.

Things I couldn't control, like how my dad left his family for a woman who only wanted his money. It ended with my mom getting the bad end of the deal, being left with nothing and forced to work three jobs. Then, it was the death of my brother. He was gunned down for a drug deal gone wrong, and Andre was in prison. Lastly, I was turned into a vampire, and the bloodlust was killing me. I couldn't take it and had to get away from him before I did something stupid.

"Where are you going?"

"My room—"

"This is your room, Cha. What did I tell you before we left the house?" I turned to him with a glare. He was talking to me as if I was a little child again. I wanted to walk away, but my body wanted to submit. I refused as I turned the knob, only for Ambrose's large hand to cover mine as I turned to his gaze. He had a stern look as if he was telling me something with his eyes, which I ignored, trying to force myself to turn the knob.

"Why do you try to overpower me, Chantal? You don't know how to use your strength yet. Therefore, you cannot overpower me. I will teach you once your bloodlust is under control. I told you this is our room, so don't make me repeat myself."

"News flash, Ambrose, you're not my Father. I left him back in South Carolina over a week ago, and I don't submit to you!" His eyes flickered as his pupils grew. I had no clue what was happening, but I hit a nerve, and before I knew it, his hand was around my neck.

"I'm fucking tired of your smart-ass mouth Chantal—"

"Oh, great. Are you going to tell me how you made me and how you can end me just as quickly? THEN DO IT! DO IT AMBROSE! KILL ME BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE AROUND YOU! I'M NOT A PUPPET, AND I WILL NOT BE YOUR DOG!"

He laughed, which I wasn't expecting. Truly, I thought he was going to hit me, but not laugh. I didn't see anything funny as he slowly trailed his nose up the nape of my neck and then down my shoulder. It had me feeling some way until his teeth sunk into my neck. It was painful but weirdly satisfying, which made me moan. It made him suck harder as he gripped the left side of my neck while chuckling. It was a new feeling, but it didn't take long to figure out what he was doing.

He was trying to drink enough of my blood to make me pass out, but I wasn't going to let him. Quickly, I tried to push him away, but his grip on my neck grew tighter until everything around me started to grow blurry, and the next thing I knew, I was out, only to wake hours later to a faint voice on the other side of the door. One of them belonged to Brose, but the other one I couldn't make out. It was a female, but it wasn't Lucy or Thana. Whoever she was, she was human and pissed, but Ambrose seemed not to care.

'What is she to you?'

'None of your damn business. Plus, it shouldn't matter to you. I told you a long time ago you mean shit to me. I hope you don't think that because you said you had my child, I would care for you. You're still a human trying to care for a half-vamp. How is that going for you? Not well, as I can see."

'You're a fucking asshole, Ambrose! You bailed as soon as Cepheus called you and didn't look back. You told me you loved me, then I had to find out from Lucy that you were back with a bride!'

'As I said, that's none of your fucking business! And Lucy didn't have the right to speak on what I damn do. Just like you, she is shit to me. I never told you I love you and never will. That was all you, Veronica—" Quickly, he paused, feeling that I was awake. I wasn't trying to listen, but my hearing was ten times better than before. I could hear a pin drop across the house or water dripping down the road, and it drove me up the wall.

'Don't fucking walk away from me, Brose!'

'If you know what is best for you. You would walk away, Vicki. My bride is awake, and I can sense her hunger. She doesn't even notice it yet, but she's standing on the opposite side of the door, ready to strike.'

It was unbelievable. I didn't even notice I was standing at the door until I heard him say it. My hand was on the knob, but it wouldn't turn. Ambrose was holding from the other side, keeping me locked in. I had to stop this. I couldn't attack another human. Why was I like this? Ambrose had to help me stop.

'You're bluffing!'

'Am I?' He spoke, opening the door, but before I could reach her, he caught me by the arm and held me to his body tightly. "Calm down, my Little Butterfly. I want you to go back into the room and look on the nightstand. There's a fresh cup of blood waiting for you." Something about the way he spoke to me made me nod and smile up at him as he kissed me, surprising me and him. However, I nodded and went back into the room as I heard him explain to her that he wouldn't stop me next time and would allow me to kill her after he returned to the room, slamming the door shut.

"I'm sorry—"

"There's nothing to be sorry about. What did you hear?" I didn't know what I should have told him. Ambrose and I weren't on good terms by any means, and if I told the truth, he would get mad, but if I lied. He still would be mad. There was no good way out of this. Therefore, I chose to lie. "Nothing."

"You're a bad liar, Cha. Here's a little tip: If you plan on lying, don't allow me to hear your thoughts. You have questions. So, ask what you want to know."

"You had a child with a human. I thought you said you didn't want children." Ambrose turned to me with a frown. I was touching a sensitive subject that I should have left alone.

"I'm not sure if he's mine, but I should have killed him and his mother. Still, if Cep gets word of this, he will be here in the blink of an eye, killing both. Before you ask, I wasn't in love with the hoe."

"Do you know why Cepheus is against you all making vampires?" It took Ambrose a minute to think about it as he sat beside me. It seemed that he didn't know. Maybe he never asked the question or cared.

"I never thought about it or thought to ask. Before he turned me, he would only turn females so he could sleep with them any way he liked. Once he tired of them, he would take their hearts. I was different because he seen me as his son. Fuck, why am I talking about this with you? Go shower. You smell like death."

I turned to him as he stood walking away. What was his fucking problem? We were having a conversation. I was finally seeing the real Ambrose until he flipped. "Fuck you too bitch!" I wasn't a violent person, but Ambrose brought that side of me out as I threw my cup at his face, and in the blink of an eye, he was on top of me.

"You Fucking Bitch! I should kill you!" I wanted to fight back, but something was pulling me towards his lips, but I averted myself to his shoulder, biting down.

"FUCK! Chantal, What Are You Doing?!" He knew what I was doing as he flipped us to where I was on top. I grinded against him, still sucking his blood as he moaned about to give in until he came to his senses. Quickly, Ambrose started to struggle for a moment before laying back and chuckling.

"You think I'm going to give in, or are you trying to pull what I did this morning? News flash, Baby, you can drink all you like, but I still have full control." I didn't realize what he meant until his hands went to the sides of my head and after he broke my neck, causing me to release him.

"A little vampire trick. Lucky for you, you're already dead, or that would have killed you. I'll give that a few seconds to heal if I were you." Instead, I popped my neck back in place as he looked at the bite on his shoulder.

"That hurt like hell. I don't understand. If we are dead, why the hell do we feel pain?" Ambrose laughed as he walked back over, snapping my neck back in the correct position, which made me want to attack him again, but I only glared while walking to the bathroom, as he never answered my question. He was an asshole and knew it.

"Heal me—"

Heal your self bitch." I was pissed and slammed the door in his face.
