Chapter 2: "Exposition? Ugh, Fine. Talk Slowly, Old Man."
Alt title:So Jinwoo is Basically Anime Batman? Cool.
Scene:
Deadpool's walking down the street, still in his suit, katanas bouncing on his back. People are side-eyeing him, but no one's screaming, so apparently walking around in full murder gear is normal here.
"Okay, so either this universe is used to cosplay murder hobos, or they think I'm part of BTS' edgy new concept. Either way, no one's called the cops yet, so I'm rollin' with it."
He stops at a convenience store. Tries to buy ramen. Doesn't have Korean currency. Starts bartering with a Chuck E. Cheese token and half a Kit-Kat. While arguing with the cashier, a grizzled old man in a cap walks in and just… stares at him.
"You a Hunter?" the man asks, suspicious.
"That depends. Are Hunters like Pokémon trainers or more like the IRS?"
Old man sits him down outside the shop. Lights a cigarette. Clearly ready to lore-dump.
The Conversation:
"The world's changed, boy. Gates started opening up years ago. Monsters started pouring in. Then came the Hunters. People who awakened powers to fight back. Saved us. Barely."
Deadpool: "Awakening powers from nowhere, monsters invading, a chosen few standing between humanity and extinction—yep, sounds like every anime I've never finished."
"But now… there's only one real protector left. Sung Jin-Woo. The Shadow Monarch."
"Shadow Monarch? What is this, a Kingdom Hearts DLC?"
The old man ignores him. Keeps talking.
"He took down the Americans' top Hunter. Thomas Andrae. With one hand. Left him bleeding and broken. People say he's not even human anymore."
"Mood."
Deadpool grabs a notebook. Starts writing "Find Sung Jin-Woo. Ask him if he lifts."
"Where's tall, dark and shadowy now?" he asks.
"Out of the country. Some Hunters' meeting. Tensions are high. Rumors flyin' about his father being a criminal. World's lookin' shaky without him here."
Deadpool: "Classic. The one overpowered plot armor character is conveniently out of town. That means I'm stuck here doing… ugh. Side quests."
Cut to: A random person runs by, screaming about a gate opening nearby. Panic. Civilians fleeing.
Deadpool sighs.
"Well, guess it's hero time. Or whatever the budget version of that is. Let's go see what flavor of boss fight this world serves for breakfast."
He cracks his knuckles, adjusts his katanas, and strolls toward the chaos.
