Chapter 18 - Barbara’s kiss

After discussing the details of the clothing, the next thing was easy. Under Yilan's financial offensive, the boss lady finally agreed to make the clothes within three days.

After everything was done, it was time for lunch. The proprietress warmly invited the two to have lunch together, but they refused. He took Barbara to the Deer Hunter Restaurant.

"Please give me some Northern smoked chicken, a cream of mushroom soup, and a grilled mushroom pizza… Barbara, I remember you like white sauce and vegetable stew, right?"

After getting a positive answer from Barbara, Yilan spoke to Sarah, the waitress at the Deer Hunter Restaurant, "Give me another serving of white sauce and vegetable stew, slightly spicy."

"Brother Yilan even remembers the dishes and flavors that I like."

While waiting for the food to be served, Barbara said and propped up her chin. Without waiting for Yilan's reply, she said thoughtfully:

"Thinking about it carefully, Brother Yilan, you have really changed a lot. Your temperament is completely different from before. Moreover, you know so much about idols and can design clothes!"

"I have spent most of this year reading in the Mondstadt Library, so naturally I know a lot."

Yilan had long anticipated that some people would be confused about the change in his image, and he had already prepared a plan in his mind, so there was naturally no problem in dealing with it.

Then he changed the subject very naturally and said, "Speaking of which, I also have some ideas about the song you are going to sing. Do you want to hear it?"

"Really? Brother Yilan, please tell us about it!" Barbara was really attracted by Yilan's new topic and no longer worried about the change in his temperament.

"Before that, can you tell me what style you hope your songs will be in?"

"First of all, it has to do with the wind. After all, Mondstadt is the city of wind and dandelions. Then, it also requires hard work and a longing for beauty…"

Barbara couldn't help but frown as she spoke and said in distress, "Actually, I don't know how to describe it specifically. Miss Alice said that the idol's songs and Mond's poems are completely different, so I don't know where to start."

"Wind, hard work, and a longing for beauty…?"

Yilan murmured softly with a thoughtful look, then smiled and said, "I have a general idea. Composing the music will take some time, but I can write the general lyrics now. See if there is anything that needs to be changed."

Immediately, Yilan asked the waiter for paper and pen and started writing on the dining table.

Barbara was originally sitting opposite Yilan, but out of curiosity, she sat next to him and leaned over to read the lyrics written by Yilan.

The distance between the two was getting closer and closer, but they were so focused that they didn't notice it until Barbara felt a burst of hot air blowing on her face, and then she realized that Yilan's lips almost touched the side of her cheek.

"——!"

Barbara quickly sat up straight, her heart beating fast and her fair cheeks flushed with an alluring blush.

She carefully moved her gaze towards Yilan like a spy, but found that he didn't notice her at all. At the same time, she felt relieved but couldn't help feeling a little annoyed—was she not as cute as the words on the paper?

But just as this thought came to her mind, she couldn't help but blame herself and think:

'Barbara, Barbara, you are usually a very reserved girl, why do you always lose control of yourself in front of Brother Yilan?'

But even if she thought so in her heart, Barbara had to admit that Yilan, who was seriously writing lyrics in the afternoon sun, had a fascinating charm.

"It's done." Yilan handed the paper with the lyrics to Barbara.

Barbara took the paper, looked at the words on it, and whispered in a voice as soft as a silver bell:

[The future is like the wind]

[Calling to us]

[No one knows what awaits in the future]

[But I still want to move forward]

[Because I don't want to regret it]

[A beating heart cannot be stopped]

[Let's all be free]

[I will never give up]

[Because it's decided]

[Through tears and laughter, I will work hard]

[Want to go beyond the limit]

[Just tell yourself]

[It is important to believe]

[Go further step by step]

[Even if it is a small existence]

[I also have big dreams]

[I won't lose, let's fly together]

The future is like the wind

So free, so free

[Fly, fly, let us fly high in the wind and depict our dreams]

"I think this song is perfect for your debut song." Yilan smiled and asked Barbara, who was still immersed in the lyrics: "What do you think?"

"I've never seen lyrics like this before. It's totally different from any poetry I've heard before…"

"Don't you like it?"

"No, I mean…" Barbara seemed to not know how to describe it, but her sparkling eyes revealed her thoughts.

"Although it's completely different from Mond's poetry, my heart tells me that this must be the 'idol's song' that Miss Alice mentioned!"

"Brother Yilan, you are so awesome!!"

Barbara looked at Yilan with admiration. She probably thought that besides Noelle, Yilan would have another fangirl. "Can I ask what the name of this song is?"

"Let's call it The Future is Like the Wind." Yilan replied with a smile.

After having lunch together, Yilan and Barbara walked around the street for a while. Seeing that Barbara was a little tired, Yilan took her to the Cat's Tail Tavern.

Yes, it's the pub where Diona is the bartender.

The two of them each ordered a glass of non-alcoholic juice and some desserts. They played with the cat and chatted about things related to their idols. In this slightly tipsy atmosphere, an afternoon passed quickly.

In the evening, when the two were about to part, Yilan politely sent her to the door of her home.

"Goodbye, Brother Yilan!"

Barbara took a few small steps forward and then suddenly turned to face Yilan.

The flying hair floated in the air as she moved. The girl leaned forward with her head slightly tilted, looking extremely playful and cute.

"Today is the happiest day since I was born. Thank you, Brother Yilan!"

There was joy in the girl's voice.

"It's my great honor." Yilan bowed slightly and said politely, "It seems that my planning for this date was quite successful."

"Date…?"

In the setting sun, Barbara's cheeks were slightly flushed.

Then,

Before Yilan could react, she suddenly trotted over, kissed Yilan lightly on the cheek, and then ran back home quickly, leaving only the sound remaining in the air.

"Brother Yilan, don't get me wrong, this is just a thank you for helping me so much!"

"Just thanks…?"

Yilan gently touched the place where she was kissed. There was still a slight wetness left by the girl's moist lips.

Now even he, who claimed to be an expert in love theory, was a little confused about Barbara's psychology.

[Positive Energy +10]

Well, it looks like I did a good thing.
