Miriam P.O.V.
Stars shone as sugar spilled over black marble, glistening in the sun. The night sky was such a welcome sight, appearing like magic at each sunset, promising to return as she faded in dawn's first light. There were times in the daytime, under skies of blue, Miriam would think of those faraway stars and how they'd return after the shadows blended into the dark.
"You taste like lemon and raspberries, my favorite." declared Alpha Kevin after I had allowed him to kiss me breathlessly, again. I could only blush in response as he escorted me to his sedan along with his brother and his friends.
Dean acted as our driver for the night. They were placed on my guard duty since I was familiar with them. Walker, Dean, Ross and Brent are so happy for us and the pack. We had already said our goodbyes to Ruth, Gavin and Kandi. The moon cast a soft, silver glow. Stars adorned the velvety sky. Shadows danced in the moonlight as we drove into the night.
Alpha Kevin took a deep breath and said,"Listen, I don't want to do anything that you don't want to do. We can go as fast or as slow as you would like the ball is completely in your court. I am just going to require certain things to keep my wolf calm."
"Such as?" I asked, looking him boldly right in the eyes. Something people are never to do with an Alpha unless they are their mate or challenging them.
"For starters, I will need to make sure you have a security detail assigned from my pack with you at all times. I have permission to enter the Moon Shine Pack regarding you at all times. I would like to make you a member of my pack as well. Providing you with dual membership in both packs. I am allowed to introduce you to my pack as their future Luna at an upcoming event. I spend time with you daily to calm my wolf. You will need to start Luna training for me a.s.a.p." stated Alpha Kevin in a matter-of-fact tone.
The blackest night hugs the land as if it were the bedtime story of creation's dreams. It's like nighttime has come to bathe the moon in her comforting black.
"As I said before, my sister and I are originally from the Night Walker Pack. My father was Beta Wyatt Montgomery of the Montgomery dynasty and my sister and I are the last of our clan. So we are unmistakably close. I don't need a protection detail. I am fully capable of taking care of myself in the event that any trouble arises. I was trained from a small child to be a warrior and a Luna. I will handle both with ease. I just thought I had more time to live my life and be a kid and have fun." I revealed to him calmly.
"I still can't believe Short Stacks is a Moor and from the original Royal family of our werewolf kind. Why did I not know this?" demanded Walker.
"I don't go around broadcasting my bloodline. I don't need a target on my back besides not many people know the truth and much of history has been rewritten to paint a different picture. Many think we have all perished and for now it is good that our enemies think so." I voiced as I looked back out the window at the serene, moonlit meadow stretched before us. The darkness whispered secrets.
Nocturnal creatures stirred in the silence. The night sky was a canvas of stars. Moonbeams kissed the earth.
"More reason for Dean, Walker, Ross and Brent to be your personal shadow. I would like to see how good of a fighter you are before I decide to add more. I can't afford to lose you. By the way, I am a hybrid. I am half vampire and a werewolf. I would like to run with Cleopatra. My wolf, Ramses, is thrilled to finally have her in our lives. I am happy that our wolves are getting along so well." stated Alpha Kevin with a devilish smirk.
I was rendered speechless by his words. I could only blush. They are getting along a little too well if you ask me. I don't know about letting them out to meet and greet each other, yet. I think my damn wolf might let him fuck us. That is definitely a no-go at the moment.
Alpha Kevin chuckled at me and my inability to form rational words at that moment. Then, he kissed my hand and my cheek.
Resulting, in me looking out of the window engulfed in a comfortable silence all around me. The guys were on their phones.
Suddenly, the night seemed like it was cloaked in mystery. The darkness whispered secrets. The night was alive with whispers and I felt like we were being watched.
All of a sudden, Cleopatra and Ramses were on high alert.
Shadows played tricks on the senses. The night exuded a sense of enchantment. The world was bathed in moonlight. Silence settled in like a shroud. The darkness held its secrets close. I could see Alpha Kevin mindlinking with Dean, Walker, Ross and Brent.
Then, unexpectedly, it felt like the night held its breath. I smelled them before we saw them.
"Rogues! Rogues! What is the plan? I can fight!" I demanded as I quickly sent my sister a 911 text regarding rogues and my current location.
"You will stay in the vehicle. We are outnumbered. My men are on the way. We will fight only if we have no other choice, but you will remain safely in this vehicle." declared Alpha Kevin as the night whispered of ancient mysteries, and he tried to push his authority on me.
"I am not some fragile flower. I am a Warrior! I am meant to be treated as a helpmate, not a burden." I proclaimed loudly, showing my annoyance already with him.
"Please short stuff, don't fight us on this. We wouldn't be able to focus on fighting if we were worried about your safety." countered Walker, grabbing my hand and giving me sad puppy dog eyes. His brother growled at him. So now, I have a jealous, controlling and possessive Alpha on my hands. This is not going to work for me. I swear I thought I had more time before this was a real issue for me.
"Fine, but my sister and the pack's warriors are on the way as well." I revealed, sitting back bracing myself for impact. I knew any attack on us would happen soon. They couldn't afford to allow us to reach the fork in the road that divided our two packlands. They could better control the outcome out here in no-man's land on the outskirts of town.
Suddenly, we are attacked. They shot out our tires and threw a bomb under our car. Our sedan was on fire. Sending our vehicle flying in the air, then causing it to do flips and roll down a hill.
