After pushing the food back to the dormitory area, Oscar immediately set aside a portion to send to the other teachers.
Since Flender wasn't at the academy, the teachers didn't refuse.
"Hehe, you're quite considerate," one of them remarked.
Shrek Academy had a rule that teachers couldn't accept anything from students. However, Ning Tianchen and the others weren't officially Shrek Academy students yet.
Zhao Wuji didn't take everything—just a symbolic dish to accompany his drink.
As night fell, Tang San and the others showed no signs of waking up, so the group decided not to wait any longer and started eating.
During the meal, Ning Tianchen casually glanced at Dai Mubai a few times.
Good grief—his fiancée was still lying in bed severely injured, yet he had the appetite to eat heartily, and his portion wasn't small either.
Midway through the meal, a fat boy with a Mohawk hairstyle pushed open the dormitory door, looking aggrieved as he exclaimed,
"Oi, Xiao Ao! I was only out playing for half a day, and you guys are sneaking food behind my back? And Boss Dai, how disloyal can you be!"
The newcomer was none other than Ma Hongjun, one of Shrek Academy's current students besides Dai Mubai and Oscar.
But halfway through his rant, when he saw Ning Rongrong, his eyes lit up, and an unsettling heat surged within him.
"Dead fatty, who are you looking at?!" Ning Rongrong snapped.
Ma Hongjun replied teasingly, "Oh, such a fiery temper—I like it."
"Fatso, do you have a death wish?" Dai Mubai roared.
Ma Hongjun seemed startled, and Oscar quickly signaled him with a glance.
Ning Tianchen remained calm, leisurely gnawing on a chicken leg in his hand. "If you're feeling suicidal, I don't mind helping you along."
Being "provoked" like this, Ma Hongjun ignored Dai Mubai's presence and angrily retorted, "Who do you think you are, kid? Are you looking to die?"
This guy was someone who could force Teacher Zhao to activate his True Body martial soul—fatso, you're the one courting death.
Oscar inwardly sighed and quickly pulled Ma Hongjun aside.
After some explanation, Ma Hongjun finally understood the situation regarding Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong.
What a character—he changed his attitude faster than flipping pages in a book. "So we're all classmates, huh? Family fighting against family—it's all a misunderstanding! My name is Ma Hongjun, my martial soul is the Evil Fire Phoenix, and I'm also part of Shrek Academy."
"Tianchen, Rongrong, don't be mad. Fatso's martial soul has a defect, which makes his… urges more intense," Dai Mubai said with a sly grin.
Ma Hongjun muttered under his breath, "I think things are fine just the way they are."
"Fatso, why don't you release your martial soul and let Tianchen and Rongrong take a look? They might know a way to help with the evil fire," Oscar suggested.
After all, they were from major factions and surely had more knowledge than ordinary soul masters.
Ma Hongjun nodded and summoned his Evil Fire Phoenix martial soul.
Upon seeing it, Ning Rongrong burst out laughing. "This clearly looks like a chicken!"
Ning Tianchen couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Incomplete mutation—it kind of looks like a chicken."
"Damn it, you're definitely mocking me!"
With that, he grabbed a chicken leg and began devouring it furiously. "You're the chicken leg—watch me chew you to death!"
Ning Tianchen didn't say anything further.
There were multiple ways for Ma Hongjun to resolve his evil fire issue.
One option was to ensure that every future soul ring came from a Fire Phoenix, using the bloodline power within the soul rings to evolve his martial soul further.
Another option was spirit grass.
But why should Ning Tianchen tell him that?
Ma Hongjun wasn't in his current state solely because of the evil fire. Just look at Dai Mubai—even without the evil fire, he still indulged in debauchery.
Half an hour later, everyone had eaten their fill.
"Fatso, are you coming with me tonight? There's a new fun place that just opened in the city," Dai Mubai suggested.
Ma Hongjun readily agreed and then asked, "Little Ao, Tianchen, are you guys coming too?"
"What kind of place? I want to go play too!" Ning Rongrong asked innocently, blinking her eyes.
Dai Mubai glared at Ma Hongjun. "Why are you running your mouth? Of course Tianchen and Little Ao aren't going!"
Oscar simply didn't have the money, and his moral compass kept him from associating with them.
And Ning Tianchen had Ning Rongrong by his side—how could he possibly go?
"Cough, cough, you two go ahead. We'll clean up here," Ning Tianchen said, not wanting to expose Ning Rongrong to such talk.
After the two left, Ning Rongrong, like a curious child, bombarded Oscar with questions.
Out of desperation, Oscar finally told her the truth.
"This Dai Mubai—yesterday he played around with three women, and now, so late at night, he's still thinking about…" Ning Rongrong trailed off, her last shred of goodwill toward Dai Mubai and Ma Hongjun vanishing completely.
Perhaps the women Dai Mubai played with during the day couldn't stay out overnight, forcing him to seek pleasure elsewhere.
And as for Ma Hongjun, he didn't even spare his elder brother's wife—what moral bottom line did he have left?
"Oscar, how can the principal and teachers let them behave like this?" Ning Rongrong fumed.
Oscar shrugged. "Fatso's teacher is the principal himself. And at our academy, the teachers and principal only care about cultivation progress—they rarely interfere in students' private lives. Matters like these are left to personal discretion."
Ning Rongrong suddenly felt regretful. If she'd known this would happen, she wouldn't have come here. What if big brother Tianchen got corrupted…
Thinking this, she looked at Ning Tianchen warily. "Big brother Tianchen, Rongrong forbids you from playing with them."
Ning Tianchen chuckled. "Don't worry, Rongrong. If I did something like that, Grandpa Sword wouldn't let me off easy."
Hearing this, she finally relaxed.
"Go check on Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing. We can't go in, but if there's anything, let us know right away," Ning Tianchen said, patting her shoulder.
…
Flender had just returned to the academy and learned about today's events from Zhao Wuji.
"Old Zhao, you've noticed it too. Ning Tianchen and Ning Rongrong are disciples of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect."
Zhao Wuji smiled. "Who doesn't recognize the Seven Kill Sword and the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda? Principal, we've hit the jackpot. That Ning Tianchen is likely a disciple of Sword Dao Chenxin. His swordsmanship is extraordinary—I barely held back, and I nearly lost to him."
Upon hearing this, Flender first laughed heartily, then grew somewhat troubled.
Back at the shop, Ning Rongrong hadn't treated him well. If she found out he was the principal, who knows what trouble might arise.
As for the matters Ning Fengzhi had entrusted him with in his letter, they wouldn't be easy to handle.
Suddenly, a sharp voice came from outside the window. "Zhao Wuji, come out."
Just like in the original timeline, Zhao Wuji was bound to get beaten up by Tang Hao.
And this time, since Tang San was severely injured, Tang Hao didn't hold back.
…
Under the bright moon and sparse stars, a middle-aged man with a buzz cut walked along the main road in the outskirts.
"Little San and Xiao Wu should already be at Shrek Academy by now. After all these years, I wonder how Flender is doing."
This person was none other than Yu Xiaogang.
With Tang San as his accomplished disciple, he felt it was time for him to "come out of retirement."
Of course, it wasn't because he couldn't make it in Nuoding City that he chose to seek refuge with Flender.
He was the brains of the operation, and his decision to join was entirely to help Flender manage Shrek Academy.
