This is way harder than I thought it was going to be. I don't know Levi's game plan and I hate being in the dark. According to my men, he is seriously looking for Samantha. Checking hospitals and mortuaries. What baffles me the most is the fact that he almost killed her.
The reason why he wanted to do that is beyond me. And nobody can tell me it was not planned because it was according to his now dead bodyguard/personal assistant cum assassin.
I was seated in LeBreux by quarter to 12 on that day. Levi set up the meeting to finally give his wife to me. I don't know why but he had been putting this off for almost a month even after taking my money. It wasn't until I finally put my foot down and gave him an ultimatum he decided to fulfill his end of the deal. I don't know what but it is like he gets nothing done till his hands are forced.
He picked the place and he picked the time. I was surprised when I got there that he was not there yet. But it made sense considering the fact that I was fifteen minutes early and he was probably coming with his wife. When it was seven minutes to twelve, I started to think he was going to bail on this meeting again like the others in the past and I was already planning to deal with him.
Less than five minutes later, there was a crash outside and I rushed to check. Inside one of the cars was the Samantha Anniston. Even more beautiful than the pictures Micheal sent me and her driver in front. My personal assistant and my driver were with me in that instant and we tried to pry the doors open.
Suddenly my driver left us and went after the guy that caused this accident who was trying to run but he was not doing much of a great job because he was dragging one feet, probably broken and was doubled over. My driver caught up to him and knocked him out.
"Everyone get back, I think the car is going to explode." I heard someone say and every other person started running back. My personal assistant and I were able to open the car and I carried Samantha out and ran a few steps just before the car exploded.
After it exploded, we were able to get the driver out. He had burns everywhere. I had my driver take the other driver somewhere and my assistant and I took Samantha and her driver to the hospital. I did not report the incident to the police and spent a fortune covering it up because I wanted to get to the root of it. It was not just an accident, it was attempted murder.
It is something more than the power or control he has over her. At first, he did not want to let her go, then he reluctantly agreed after being persuaded by me and on the day he was meant to bring her to me, he tried to kill her. Was he trying to tell me that if he can't have her, no one can? If that is it then this man is even more deranged than I thought he was. Because going through all these trouble for a woman you don't even like is diabolical.
He was supposed to be at LeBreux that day but he did not show up. I had even assumed he was coming with his wife but obviously, he didn't which probably to him was a smart move to not place him at the scene of his crime, which was good because cleaning up his mess was a bitch. I put in a lot of money into deleting the original footages from the restaurant and the street camera, keeping the media quiet, paying the eye witnesses hush money and clearing the cars involved in the accident.
As for Samantha, I was able to pull her out of the car just before it exploded. I took her to one of the best hospitals which is also one I heavily fund. It was necessary so that I could get them to give her premium treatment and also keep things under the table. When I heard Levi was snooping around, I pulled her out and took her to my house while still employing the best healthcare home service. I don't even know this woman but something about her calls out to me and makes me want to go above and beyond for her.
Right now, according to the doctor, she is back on her feet and good to go back to her daily activities. And I heard she has been asking questions. Of course she has, I literally took her from a crime scene and instead of taking her back to her home, I am hiding her in mine. I am sure that is called kidnapping. She has not been able to ask me about anything because I have not seen her since I brought her to my house a week ago. I left her in Tammy's care and she reports back to me. I leave the house before she is out of her room and come back way past midnight. On some days, I don't go home at all.
My phone rings and I check the screen, oh shit, it is my sister. She must have heard the news. Knowing my sister, she heard about it the day it happened but was probably giving me time to come to my senses and redeem myself by doing the right thing. I contemplate letting it ring out and not picking up but I change my mind and pick it.
"Hello."
"Where are you?"
"Oh? No hello, no hi, no how're you holding up?"
"Don't fuck with me Ezekiel. Where the hell are you?" Uh oh, she is pissed. I close my eyes tightly before answering "in the office."
"I'm waiting for you at home." This made me jump to my feet.
"YOU WHAT???"
"Don't worry, she didn't see me, I took care of that with Tammy, but if you're not here within the hour, I will gladly show myself."
"No you won't."
"You don't want to test that theory." Knowing my sister, no I don't want to test out that theory because she will make good on her promise. If anyone will tell Samantha the truth, she deserves to hear it from me. I am the reason she is here. Literally.
I hang up the call and start clearing my table. I dial my driver and ask him to ready the car.
I grab my suit and my briefcase and leave my office. On my way out, I pass my secretary and give her instructions to lock my door and head straight for the elevator. Maybe it is because I am in a hurry but this elevator ride seems longer than I remember.
The moment the door dings open, I walk briskly to the door and into the car that my driver has already waiting for me.
I text Tammy on my way home to keep Samantha away from the door and the living room since I will need to use those to get to my home office where my sister is waiting for me.
When I get home, there is nobody in the living room but I hear voices coming from the music room. I don't wait to dwell on it and I make a dash for the stairs and to my office.
I barge in and there my sister is sitting in my chair looking like the blueprint for every masculine presenting woman. Her booted feet are crossed at the ankles and sitting on my table at she looks at me with a bored expression.
"What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same."
"I live here but you on the other hand, need to go." This seems to anger her as she brings her foot down and stands up to me.
"I won't leave till I have answers about the stupid decisions you've been making."
I drop my briefcase and suit that I was holding the entire time and flop down on one of the visitors chairs.
"You won't understand."
"Humour me."
She sits back down and listens while I tell her everything from the investment to the collateral to the way Levi had been putting off the delivery and finally to the accident that I know was premeditated by her husband.
"So where is the other driver?"
"He is dead." Her eyes widen.
"Did you…?"
"No I didn't. I didn't take him to the hospital either. He was alive long enough to tell us everything and feel the pain he brought to himself. He took a life and almost took another. He died a day later."
"What did you do to him."
"I took care of his body."
"What…"
"You don't need to know. I have told you what you need to know, now leave." She does not make any attempt to stand up and I sigh.
"So what are you going to do now."
"I really don't…" The door opens behind me and…
"Janet?"
Oh shit.
