Noelle Benami, a young and bright person. Also the daughter of Kentaro Benami, the principal.
As he continues staring at her grave, he begins to reminisce about the memories from long ago.
Forty-Six Years Ago
In a hospital room, a 20-year-old Kentaro sits alongside a beautiful blonde-haired woman who is holding a newborn baby. A beautiful and bright young girl.
"Noelle... Welcome to the beautiful world, Noelle Benami." The blonde-haired woman softly spoke.
The baby was sleeping softly in her arms as she held her. Gently she looked over at Kentaro and smiled.
"Come say hi to your daughter, silly." The blonde-haired woman smiled.
Kentaro approached excitedly as he took a seat beside her on the hospital bed. His eyes tearing up as he looked at his daughter.
"She's beautiful, Kaga. She even has your nose." Kentaro expressed as he gently brushed Noelle's cheek with his finger.
"Well, she has your eyes." Kaga remarked with a smile as she leaned her head on Kentaro's shoulder.
The two sit in silence and happiness as they stare at Noelle happily. Kaga gently rocks her as she pulls her closer.
"You're going to do great things; you'll... even light up anything with your bright smile..." Kaga's soft speech slowly breaks up as she slowly begins to drift.
"Kaga? Are you okay?" Kentaro worried as he held her up.
Kaga is slow to respond as she struggles to open her eyes.
Kentaro set her down in her hospital bed gently before rushing to the door.
"NURSE! I NEED A NURSE!" Kentaro shouted in the hallway before looking back to see more blood flowing from her lower waist.
"QUICKLY, PLEASE!" Kentaro shouted once again. This time followed by several hospital staff rushing into the room.
The staff quickly took Noelle out of Kaga's hands and placed her into a safe baby cart. As others try to get Kaga to walk up,.
Kentaro stood in despair as he watched from the hallway before...
BAM
The nurses shut the door in a rush to keep Kentaro out so that they could work.
Kentaro watched from the window in fear. Before falling to his knees with tears falling from his eyes as he starts to plead.
"Please, no, don't take her from me... Please don't." Kentaro sobbed as his face was planted on the ground.
Other patients and visitors walked around him in concern and condolences. Yet no one reached out to him.
Two hours later
Kentaro sat outside on a chair, his face puffy and red, as he lay back and stared at the ceiling. The hospital's light flickered every so often.
CLICK
Kentaro's head jolts down to see the door to Kaga's room opening. A nurse walking out slowly but quick to spot him. Causing Kentaro to get up and rush over to her.
"Kaga! How is my wife, Kaga?!" Kentaro begged for an answer as he compulsively grabbed hold of the nurse's shoulders.
The nurse feels concerned as she places her hand onto his chest and looks him in his eyes.
"She lost a lot of blood; it seems one of the lacerations from when she gave birth had reopened and caused her to start hemorrhaging."
"IS SHE OKAY!" Kentaro interrupted, ignoring anything else besides an answer.
"S-She's..."
Suddenly a doctor walked out from the door as well, standing behind the nurse, his eyes locked onto Kentaro with a stone-cold glare. Causing Kentaro to release the nurse.
"Mr. Benami... Kaga will live." The doctor informs him as he walks up beside him and places his hand on his shoulder.
"It's honestly a miracle that she was able to regain consciousness after losing that amount of blood. But I assure you, she will be fine after a bit of rest. However, that also means you should get some as well. You may rest with your wife, but we'll have to take Noelle to our infant care floor." The doctor expresses
"O-Okay, just let me see Kaga." Kentaro pleads.
"No problem, we'll bring Noelle back once Kaga and you are well rested." The doctor informs him one last time before releasing Kentaro's shoulder and walking off with another nurse walking out with Noelle in her arms.
Kentaro quickly brushed through the door and into the room. Where Kaga was resting peacefully, the bedsheets and Kaga's gown were changed out into something clean. His eyes glistening with tears as he closes the door behind him and walks over to Kaga's bedside. Falling to his knees as he looks up at her.
"T-Thank you... Thank you, thank you, thank you..." Kentaro softly repeated as his eyes teared up fully.
Four Hours Later
Kentaro was asleep, slouched in the hospital chair that was close by Kaga's bedside. A sudden caressing feeling slowly woke him up. As his eyes slowly peeled open, he saw Kaga looking over at him still lying down. Her eyes gently watching him.
It only took a few seconds before Kentaro's eyes sparked open and he jerked out of his chair straight to her side. On his knees as he held her hand in his hands.
"Kaga, Kaga! I-I thought I lost you... I-I..." Kentaro stuttered as he felt his breath becoming shaky as he spoke.
"I know... I know..." Kaga softly replied as she continued looking at him, her gentle smile pasted on her face.
"I was afraid; I was so scared... I don't know what I would've done if I lost you..." Kentaro softly retorted as he continued to be shaky.
Kaga sighed in relief as she moved her hand and started gently tracing Kentaro's face with her finger.
"The same thing you would've done had you lost me... Raise Noelle with kindness and happiness. Making sure she shined as brightly as she does now. That's what you would've done. Because that's just how you are, Kentaro Benami." Kaga gushed softly as she raised her hand to his cheek and held it against it.
"That's why I married you." Kaga smiled as she and Kentaro just looked into each other's eyes peacefully.
Their silence spoke volumes as their love truly showed itself.
