Twenty minutes later.Nyx stared at the food on the table and fell silent.A plate of dark, dried fruit pastries was brilliantly colored and smelled with a hint of sweetness.A silver platter was set with a delicate tower of dark chocolate, garnished with violet colored frosting, and a small dish of sauce that looked to have a faint reddish tinge to it on the side.
Most importantly - there was some sort of emotional energy hidden in the magical fluctuations of these foods.
Nyx tentatively picked up a piece of the dried fruit cake and took a bite, then his eyes changed slightly.
Anger. There was actually a faint hint of angry mood swings in this stuff, the kind of small impatience that was similar to - a hint of stoic anger in the face of being pissed off at a stubborn demon?
Nyx slowly turned his head to look at Ellis, who was sitting across the table.
Ellis was slowly flipping through a grimoire without looking up, his tone calm, "How does it taste?"
Nyx narrowed his eyes and tsked, "You did that on purpose."
"Hmm?"Ellis finally lifted his head, his golden pupils looking at him calmly, "If it refers to the fact that you created chaos in the academy and caused me to have to deal with a bunch of trouble, it was indeed on purpose."
Nyx: "..."
He looks down at the food on his plate, his eyes subtle.Ellis had made all this stuff, and it was perfectly to his taste? How did this guy manage to do that? There couldn't be a canon that taught Ellis how to make his favorite things, could there?
Nyx sighed and resigned himself to continue eating. It was a bit of a target on his back, but he had to admit that they were indeed to his liking. As he ate, he looked at Ellis thoughtfully.
Ellis, however, was completely unconcerned with his gaze and slowly finished his tea, closed his book, and stood up, "Come with me to the academy when you're done eating."
"Where to?"Nyx asked vaguely.
Ellis glanced at him, "There's a class today that requires your cooperation."
Nyx paused, his chewing stopping for a moment, then gave a smile with a hint of mockery, "Oh?You're not asking me to be the textbook, are you?"
Ellis looked at him calmly, "You could interpret it that way."
Nyx: "..."
This guy wasn't even kidding him. This was a really bad day.
Nyx shuffled behind Ellis as he walked into the main academic building of the academy.
The students within the academy had long heard that Ellis' contracted demon resided in the tutor's dormitory, but it was the first time they had seen it in person. On the long corridor of the high tower, the magic apprentices coming and going stopped and whispered, their gazes tinged with wonder and awe.
Nyx swept around without a care in the world, moodily accepting the gazes of the crowd. He was a narcissistic demon by nature, enjoying the feeling of being looked up to.He raised the corners of his lips and casually raised his hand, a wisp of dark purple magic energy emerged from his fingertips, translucent magic light shadows swirled in his palm like dancing flames, pure and dangerous.
The apprentices of the academy held their breath.
"Oh my god ... it really is a demon."
"It's actually so beautiful ..."
"Tutor Ellis actually contracted such an existence?"
"No wonder Mentor is so powerful ..."
Listening to these murmurs of awe, Nyx's mood grew more and more relaxed. He slowly followed Ellis, deliberately slowing down his pace to enjoy this moment of being noticed.
However, Ellis, who was walking ahead, did not react to this, not even returning his head, not even stopping to wait for him.
Nyx glared at him and muttered disgruntledly, "Can't you just cooperate with me a little?"
Ellis finally stopped and turned back to give him a faint look, his tone calm, "You're here for a lesson, not to show off."
Nyx raised an eyebrow, "But I'm a demon.Showing off is instinctive."
Ellis ignored him and simply pushed open the door to the classroom.
The students were already ready for the class, sitting around the semi-circular staircase classroom, facing the podium in the center. The topic of today's lesson was "The Composition of Higher Order Demons and the Law of Contract", which should have been a theoretical lesson, but Ellis had obviously brought a "living textbook".
