Cherreads

Chapter 19 - Chapter 20.

When Nyx smelled the aroma wafting through the air once more, he paused slightly in his steps and looked over at Ellis suspiciously.

Ellis seemed completely unconcerned by his reaction, simply walking calmly into the kitchen and placing a bowl of freshly prepared dish on the table.

Nyx narrowed his eyes, keenly sniffing out the hidden fluctuations of emotion in it - it was anger, obstinacy, and a little ... dont you know resignation?

He understood at once.

Ellis had actually made a special effort to cook something that suited his tastes. It turned out that it wasn't that he wouldn't, he just didn't want to.

Get it, humans, isn't that the reward system?

Nyx leaned on the doorframe, the corner of his mouth raising a smile with a bit of a nasty undertone, ''Yo, isn't this Lord Ellis?I can't believe you'd cook for yourself and make a point of catering to a demon's appetite."

Ellis ignored his flirtation and just gave him a faint look, his tone calm, "To eat or not to eat?"

Nyx scanned the food on the table and eventually walked over and sat down in a chair. He picked up a spoon and scooped up a bite, tasting it slowly before his eyes widened slightly.

Yummy.

He raised an eyebrow in some surprise.Even though it was human cuisine, the flavor of emotions permeated it, so strong that he simply couldn't resist it.

Ellis looked at his lowered head as he ate and said nothing, turning to sit aside and continuing to flip through the ancient books.

For a while, the tutor's dormitory was surprisingly quiet in a rare way, with only the sound of clashing cutlery echoing in the air.

Nyx ate while looking at Ellis thoughtfully. This human mentor, is really getting more and more interesting.Decided, I'll stop calling him Old Wand behind his back from now on.

Nyx woke up to an impatient knock on the door.

"Nyx."Outside the door, Ellis' voice was steady and cold, "Get up."

Inside the room, dark curtains obscured the windows, and only a few rays of light filtered through the cracks and fell on the plush blankets. The demon on the bed was wrapped in the covers, unmoving. He squinted half-asleep and rolled over, burying himself a little deeper.

"Sleep for another five hundred years ..." His voice was muffled, coming out of the thick feather pillows with a heavy dose of sleepiness and a stubborn refusal to get out of bed.

There was silence outside the door for a split second, and in the next second, the temperature in the room plummeted, and a vague wave of magic power came through the air.

With a jolt, Nyx immediately popped up from the bed and stared at the door of the room warily, "Hey, you don't really want to ..."

"If you don't get up, I'll cast a spirit-lifting magic on you."Ellis threatened in a calm tone.

Nyx's eyes widened, shock and anger written all over his face, "You can't treat your contracted demon like that! It's not in the spirit of the contract!"

Ellis was noncommittal, instead reaching out and pushing the door open.

"This has nothing to do with the contract."He stepped in, his eyes sweeping lightly across the room, "This is your punishment for disrupting the academic order."

Nyx immediately got a bad feeling. He clutched the covers and sat up slowly, his hair a mess and his scarlet eyes still blank with sleeplessness. He smacked his lips, "Let's just say, is there a possibility that you, the honorable Lord Royal Magic Tutor, are being a little too strict with me?"

Ellis ignored him and reached out to pull back the curtains, the morning light instantly flooding the room.Nyx let out an agonized groan and reached out to cover his eyes, complaining mournfully, "How can you humans be so cruel!"

Ellis remained impassive and turned to the door, casually saying, "Breakfast is in ten minutes. If you want to stay in bed, don't complain about being hungry."

Nyx grunted in disbelief. He didn't need to eat human food anyway, and he couldn't care less about absorbing some emotional energy when he was hungry.
