Chapter 26 - Chapter 27.

"Nyx."Ellis' voice sounded faintly.

The magical fire in Nyx's hand instantly went out, and he blinked his bright eyes, then gave an innocent smile and slowly turned his head, "I was just kidding."

Ellis stood in the doorway, looking at him with cool eyes, obviously not quite believing his "joke" statement.

Nyx shrugged and hopped down from the lectern, smiling as he walked towards Ellis, "Alright, alright, I won't scare them."

He inclined his head to look at Ellis, a hint of wryness flashing in his eyes, "You came over here specifically to pick me up because you were afraid I'd scare your students?"

Ellis said lightly, "It's good that you know."

Nyx let out a low chuckle and gently shrugged his shoulders, "Alright, since you've said so, I'll begrudgingly tighten up a bit."

After he finished speaking, he turned to look at the scholars in the lecture hall and winked with a meaningful smile, "That's all for today's 'lecture', good luck to you all."

Then, he leisurely followed Ellis out of the lecture hall.

Since being reprimanded by Ellis that day, Nyx hadn't looked at him properly for two days.

He still lived in Ellis's tutor's dormitory, still hung around the academy, and still pranked him from time to time, but as soon as Ellis appeared in his line of sight, he immediately changed to a cold and detached attitude and didn't even look at him.

Ellis wasn't one to lower his voice and admit his mistakes, but he also knew that Nyx was really angry this time.

Granted, a demon's mood changes were always elusive, but Nyx's attitude already said it all.

"What the hell did you do to piss off your demon like that?"

In the tutor's lounge in the late afternoon, Ellis' colleague Steven looked at him with a raised eyebrow, a cup of hot tea in his hand.

Ellis pinched his brow and spoke in a calm tone, "He went too far, I reprimanded him."

Steven blew on the air in his teacup, "A few lectures can make a demon angry for two days? Are you sure you didn't say that too hard?"

Ellis was silent for a moment, seeming to recall his words at the time, and ultimately didn't deny it.

"So what are you going to do?"Steven smiled, "My advice is to coax it, it's very easy to coax.I used to have magical elves, when they get angry, they look like they're tugging, but really, with a little coaxing, they'll soon stick around."

Ellis lightly glanced at him, his voice calm and firm, "Demons and elves are different."

"Okay, okay, okay, you're good."Steven shrugged and left the lounge with his cup of tea.

After he left, the old mentor sitting on the other side, Meclair, suddenly smiled and sighed meaningfully, "It's really nostalgic."

Ellis raised his eyes to him, as if waiting for him to continue.

Meclair slowly put down the scroll in his hands, his tone carrying a bit of nostalgia, "You know what?Back then, I advised Mentor Steven the same way."

Ellis faintly froze, "You also persuaded him to coax magical elves?"

"No."Meclair smiled meaningfully, "I advised him to coax the magical creatures he raised."

Ellis looked at him thoughtfully, "And then?"

"And then?"Meclair sighed, "Mentor Steven came back at me then with a disdainful look on his face - 'You're raising a dog, can a dog be the same as a magical creature with a spirit?'"

Ellis: "..."

"But ah ..." Meclair paused, his tone languid, "I've been trying to clarify something."

Ellis raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.

Meclair let out a soft laugh and slowly said, "What I had back then, was no ordinary dog."

He paused and gave a meaningful smile, "It was a three-headed dog."

Ellis: "..."
