He sat paralyzed in Ellis's tutor's quarters, a book in his hand, flipping idly through it while his eyes drifted across the desk to Ellis from time to time.
Ellis was concentrating on organizing a research note, seemingly completely undisturbed by him.
After a few moments of silence, Nyx finally couldn't help but speak, "Ellis-"
Ellis didn't look up, "You're supposed to be copying the code."
Nyx instantly gave a mournful expression and dropped his pen, "This is so boring."
Ellis glanced at him lightly, "You chose it yourself, if you want to stay in the academy, you have to follow the rules."
Nyx slumped down on the table, his face buried in his arms, and sulked, "You're not even as cold as the rumors say you are."
Ellis finally stopped writing and glanced at him, his tone calm, "Rumors?"
Nyx's red eyes narrowed slightly, the corners of his mouth lifting into a smirk, "It's said outside that you're the most aloof and unapproachable tutor in the academy, that even your magic carries an icy aura, but you're not that aloof to me."
Ellis' demeanor didn't change as he turned a page in his notebook, his tone bland, "Because you're always causing trouble."
Nyx blinked and suddenly braced himself, slowly approaching Ellis, "And what if I make more trouble?"
Ellis closes the book and looks at him with a quiet gaze, "Then your copying duties will double."
Nyx: "..."
He paused, sighed, and finally resigned himself to picking up a pen, "Fine, fine, I'll just copy."
Ellis continued flipping through the books, casually saying, "If your writing is too scribbled, I'll make you rewrite it."
Nyx's hand shook and he almost threw the pen out.
"... Ellis, you're the real devil."
Ellis turned his head slightly sideways, revealing a smile if nothing else, "Thanks for the compliment."
However, Nyx's "peace and quiet" didn't last long.
The next day, there was once again a commotion in the academy.
"Look, why is there a black ribbon hanging from the academy's bell tower?"
"It seems to be some kind of special magic ribbon ... but how did it float up there?"
"Wait, aren't there words carved on it?"
The crowd looked up and saw that the black ribbon read in ancient magical script, "Nyx Lucifer once ruled the Academy sky here."
Students:"..."
Tutors:"..."
The entire academy was silent for a split second, and then, I don't know who laughed out loud first, and then the entire campus fell into a heated discussion.
When Ellis received the news, the pen in his hand stopped for an instant, he slowly closed his book and took a deep breath."Nyx."
The demon sitting on the windowsill raised his eyes lazily, "Hmm?"
Ellis' voice was calm, "What did you do again?"
Nyx smiled, "Just a little artistic endeavor.Spice up life a bit, you don't mind, do you?"
Ellis: "..."
Penalty copying assignment, doubled.
Nyx's entire body cracked up when he was penalized for copying again.
He slumped on the table with a lifeless look, muttering, "I'm just adding a bit of artistic atmosphere to the academy, and I actually have to be penalized for copying ten times ..."
Ellis calmly flipped through the books without lifting his head, "Twenty times."
Nyx sat up violently straight and stared wide-eyed, "?You clearly said ten times just now!"
Ellis' tone is smooth, "You're annoying me."
Nyx: "..."
He glared hard at Ellis, like he was trying to turn his eyes into a physical attack. But Ellis just blandly turned a page in his book, completely ignoring his protests.
Gritting his teeth, Nyx picked up his pen and barely managed to write two lines before he started swinging again. He threw the pen down on the table and stared at Ellis with a dangerous look in his eyes, "Ellis."
Ellis finally raised his eyes and looked to him, waiting quietly for him to speak.
Nyx gave a slow smile, "Did you do that on purpose?"
Ellis' tone remained the same, "Meaning which way?"
Nyx narrowed his eyes and lowered his voice a few notches, "You punished me for copying when you knew that demons have a natural aversion to repetitive labor."
Ellis' expression didn't change, even showing a rare hint of a smirk, "Do you think this is the first time I've dealt with a demon?"
Nyx froze.
Ellis continued, "If I had asked you to do a more challenging punishment, you would have found a way to exploit it and turn it into some sort of game or test, or maybe even use it for your own pleasure in turn."His tone was smooth as if he were expounding on some academic theory, "But repetitive scribbling is the most boring, patience-expanding way to do it, enough to bore you without hurting you."
Nyx was speechless for a moment, and after a few moments of silence, he let out a low laugh."Ellis, you are so cunning."
Ellis looked at him, "Thanks for the compliment."
