Chapter 11 - Chapter 11.

Nyx had been just casually flipping through the book, looking at it idly, when suddenly, his eyes rested on a page of ancient magic spells.

"Oh?"He narrowed his eyes and revealed an amused smile, "What is this?"

The spellbook was obviously ancient, the paper slightly yellowed, the writing on it elegant and mysterious.Nyx glanced at it lazily and casually recited a few incantations.

In the next second, the pages suddenly surged with magic, and Nyx watched as the heavy grimoire suddenly began to tremble, followed by-"Quack."

The pen in Ellis' hand stuttered.

He looked up and saw that his grimoire - a precious tome that had been on his desk - was leaping uncontrollably across the table and, with a frog's beak sprouting from its cover, began to chant in a melodious song, "The abyss sings, the destiny echoes..."

Ellis: "..."

Nyx: "..."

The two look in silence at the magic book that has suddenly turned into a singing frog.

After a few seconds, Nyx suddenly bursts out laughing so hard he can't stand up straight, "Hahahahaha!Ellis, your book has become a sperm! That's the funniest magic I've ever seen!I'm worthy of being the best demon ever, and this is what I call true magic in disguise.Ellis, did you see that?"

Ellis rubbed his brow, took a deep breath, and calmly asked, "What did you do?"

Nyx spread his hands in mock innocence, "I just recited the incantation on it, who knew it would actually work?"

Ellis looked at him, his eyes calm and restrained, "What did you recite?"

Nyx blinked and glanced down at the page, then scratched his head in some embarrassment, "Uh ... it seems to be ... 'Give knowledge to the singing, make the silent to speak'?"

"..." Ellis' eyes became more subtle and intriguing.

Nyx pretended not to see it, and reached out to poke at the "frog" magic book, which closed its cover, as if closing its mouth, and then opened it violently, singing, "My wisdom is like the deep sea, my melody is like the stars --"

Nyx laughed and slapped the table, "Bravo, that's even better than the bard at the academy!"

Ellis finally relented and reached down to close the book, pressing it to the tabletop and whispering the spell to undo the magic. The spellbook shuddered slightly and finally returned to normal, transforming back into a silent, wordless book.

Nyx propped his chin up and looked at it with intent, "Are you sure you don't want to keep it?I think it's brilliant."

Ellis gave him a look, his voice calm, "If you don't want to be penalized for copying 'how to properly use ancient magic' three times, stop reading nonsense."

Nyx immediately curbed his laughter and raised his hands in surrender, "Alright, alright, I won't recite anymore."

Only then did Ellis withdraw his gaze and continue his research, while Nyx sat next to him, staring thoughtfully at the silent book, a mischievous smile quietly curling up at the corner of his mouth.

He didn't say that he wouldn't secretly try another spell later.

Ellis had thought that was the end of the matter, however it wasn't that simple.
