They had thought this through. Silas nodded his head as he stepped in through the door, ducking into the door that led into the ventilation system of them hero association building.
The area was massive with tunnels leading into various areas, but the resistance seemed to know where they were going. They must have installed a mole into the 'hero' association.
They would look back once in a while, but Silas was fast enough to avert their gaze. One of his super powers, which he called Blink, allowed him to move faster than the human eye.
Since the resistance weren't very quite with their movements for some reason, it helped Silas and Luke hide even easier. So, the two groups crawled through the ventilation shafts.
"So, Wolf is still back with the guard?" One of them spoke in a distorted voice, turning to the one crawling besides him. He was wearing a goat mask.
"What did you expect?" The other guy who wore a sheep mask, replied in his similarly distorted voice, "Wolf had his powers contained by those cuffs,"
Silas raised a brow hearing this. So, this was the reason those two vanished after Wolf got cuffed by Dexter? These guys must have taken their time to plan and prepare this run.
'It is a shame they aren't going home with the core,' Silas reminded himself, and as the thought entered his mind, the group halted. One by one, they dropped from the air shafts.
Silas raised a brow, dragging Luke to hide. As one, wearing a tiger mask, was coming down, he looked back to see if anything suspicious was there. He looked and saw nothing.
After searching for some minutes, he calmly dropped down. Silas frowned, waiting in patience to make sure that every one of them had left, before turning around to crawl up.
He looked down from the square cutout in the shafts, searching for cameras, then he calmly jumped down. He helped Luke come down without hurting himself in the process.
"They must have compromised the security in advance," Silas explained to Luke who'd gone pale from walking with him deep in enemy headquarters, "Or we'd have been caught."
"That isn't any more assurance than saying we're at the mercy of their mistakes," Luke was on edge, and he didn't hide it. Any mistake they made now, could cost them their lives.
Silas may be strong, but if he was trapped here, then he wouldn't survive. After walking for a while, they saw the group of masked people gathered around a door while murmuring.
"Are you sure you can crack the code?" the one with a tiger mask asked, his hand on the shoulder of one wearing a fox mask. Seeing the guy shrug, he said, "You'd sound the alarm."
"Don't jinx us, you turd!" the one with a goat mask warned after he slapped the back of Tiger's head. He turned to Fox, rubbing him on the back, "You won't blow us up, will you?"
"Continue molesting me, and I just may." Fox replied in a deep distorted voice before he stepped back, and beep sounded. He put both hands on his waist, looking from left to right.
The door cracked open, and the group rushed inside, and there it sat— the Arctic Core, floating above a elevated metallic platform. It was a white orb with spinning silver rings.
"Haha, now all we just have to worry about is leaving this place," Sheep exclaimed, his gaze fixated on the floating orb. He turned to Fox, "You go to the computers and unlock it."
The second he turned to the side, and saw the pair of alluring red eyes staring back, he staggered back in shock. The others quickly turned in that direction and they jumped back.
"Are you scared?" The woman sitting by the computers giggled as she twirled the glass of wine in her hands, a condescending gleam in her eyes as she twisted her cheery red lips.
"Fuck, we never guessed you'd be here, Lilia." Tiger laughed out loud, standing by the others in a formation, no one daring to break out, "Don't you have more important issues?"
"I'm free tonight," She clicked a button on the computer desk, and more lights switched on, illuminating the room completely. The turrets hidden in the darkness were all revealed.
"Those are all laced with Aclamatine, the drug that raptures the human nervous system and leads to a partial or total crippling of the body functions," Lilia added in a silvery tone.
"Why did you let us walk all the way here if you weren't letting us touch the orb?" Fox found the strength to speak after a while, trembling as he looked around himself in shock.
"Bait," she replied seductively, raising the glance of wine to her lips and taking a sip, an intense gleam in her eyes. She smirked with the wine dribbling down the corner of her lips.
"Don't think any obscene thoughts when around her," Tiger quickly turned to the other members of his group, the back of his coat wet from sweat, "She feeds on those thoughts!"
"Haha," Lilia giggled coyly, lowering the cup from her lips, then licking the wine with her gaze locked on Tiger, "You are thinking of pinning me on the table aren't you, Tiger?"
"Fuck. Don't let that woman get in your head, she is an S-Rank Hero!" The second his voice fell, one of the men in his formation charged out, only for the turrets to unleash hell.
Once the spray of bullets ripped him to pieces, right before their very eyes, the man fell to the ground and his mask rolled to Lilia's feet. She giggled, "Oh my, the goat lost control."
The head of the man, torn from the body by bullets, rolled over to Tiger's feet. Seeing it happen before his eyes, and not being able to do anything, he felt ashamed, "You monster…"
"Oh, stop it." She laughed, her voice a melody. Suddenly, she vanished from her position and appeared with her hand on Silas', who had his hand reaching for the orb, wrist, "Hello."
