Chapter 16 - Killing Him A Second Time

"Impossible—" Tiger shouted as the ice cracked up all around him, then exploded in a fiery outburst. He turned to the others of his team, melting the ice away from their bodies.

Leaving Lilia to her own fate, they quickly rushed after Silas through the hole he'd bore in the tiles, their eyes widening to an empty room and their "door" leading out the building.

"How did he manage to move the dimensional door with such a speed?" Fox asked, his gaze shifting to Tiger who'd clenched his fists tight, "He must've been hiding his strength."

"After them, they couldn't have gone that far!" Sheep, whose mask was cracked from a near death experience, shouted as he swung his index finger into the gate, "Hurry, Hurry!"

The others turned to him, then silence befell the group. They quickly jumped into the dimensional gate, only to find themselves right behind those guards waiting at the gates.

"Camouflage, quick!" Tiger commanded, but nothing happened. It was then the image of goat, the fool who'd died first because of his self-control, flashed through Tiger's mind.

One of the guards scratched their chin and yawned, looking out the corner of his eyes.

——

Silas dragged Luke through their mirage, running at a speed that wouldn't turn either of them to paste. He was still disturbed from the battle with Lilia— he was even rock-hard.

Terrifyingly enough, after what he saw Goat go through, Silas believed that he survived that moment with merely a sliver of luck. Any obscene thoughts, and he'd have lost control.

Luke did a good job, moving the door all the way from the ventilation shafts to the area right beneath them. He avoided their security all on his own while they were all distracted.

That was crazy work! Silas finally released Luke after they were well out of the heroes association's range. With the ice core in his inventory, they returned to Ice's humble home.

"You're really handing that to Ice?" Luke asked, watching as Silas shrugged and pushed open the doors. The second the doors opened, he sighed and turned to look inside the house.

The second his gaze entered the room, it met with Ice's glare. Luke staggered back, then his eyes lowered from hers. Ice crossed her legs, and stomped on someone's back as she sat.

Luke was at a loss for words seeing this, but Silas stepped inside, finding those words in a calm tone, "Persus came here? He must've been such a fool believing that you were weak."

Silas' gaze darted across the room, and a grin formed on his face. Luke saw it too and it was the reason he was that shaken. Selena was missing from the spot that they had left her.

"Why did you let her go? I would have believed this was an illusion." As the words left his mouth, Ice who could barely walk earlier, lunged for Silas' neck with her kitchen knife.

Before she could reach his neck, he stepped forward and slammed his fist right into her face, sending Ice flying across the room. Silas watched as "she" slid down the wall, "Hmm,"

He watched as the illusion reverted, Ice shifted into a blue haired man. The man on the ground shifted and was revealed to be Selena. Seeing this, Silas raised a brow in confusion.

Silas paused, staring at the man in confusion then at Selena, 'I thought that'd he'd hide her somewhere and have taken Ice as a hostage. I didn't think she was right there all along.'

"Looking for your friend? I made quick work of her when I got here." Persus laughed as he lifted his head, glaring into Silas' eyes, "If you don't want her to die, then give it to me."

Before another word could leave his lips, Silas appeared with Persus' neck grasped in a choke hold, dragging him off his feet and up the wall, "What makes you think I care, fool?"

Silas stretched his other hand to Selena, his pupils narrowed to slits, "What if I kill the one you call your daughter? I disintegrate the atoms of air she breathes into her nostrils?"

Luke shook his head, charging through the room with a cold gleam in his eyes, rushing up the stairs as Silas grinned. Persus' pupils snapped to Luke then back to the smiling Silas.

"Would that have been what you wanted?" Silas grinned, tightening his grasp on Persus' neck as he put his other hand into his pockets, "Why do you think I let Luke stand outside?"

Persus' pupils widened, trembling as he shifted his gaze from Silas to Luke who was on the stairs, and his lips began to tremble. Silas scoffed seeing Persus getting this worked up.

"After our battle at the mansion, I noticed that there was a weakness to your power." A cold gleam flashed Silas' his eyes, and he continued, "Your illusions' range is quite limited."

"She's in here!" Luke shouted, glaring at Selena who was seated on Ice's chair, and she looked very confused. Luke rushed to her before she could escape, and he grabbed her arm.

Silas turned from the staircase to Persus whose pupils were dilating, and smirked. The blue haired man grabbed Silas' hand, "But the two of you are in the illusion now! You can—"

"Luke must have studied the layout of the room before jumping in," Silas groaned, then turned to the 'Selena' lying on the ground, "You should have just listened you stubborn girl."

"Shut up," As she grabbed the couch, raising herself to her feet, the illusion over her body crumbled and Ice's livid face was revealed, "I was taken by surprise by his stupid illusions."

That could probably be true. Persus could have helped her waste her energy through his illusions until she collapsed. On the other hand, Persus must have taken her out in one blow.

Silas shrugged, but neither mattered to him. He clenched his chokehold and Persus' neck blew up in his grasp, blood raining as Persus' head fell— Fear was drawn on his face forever.

Ice stared, her pupils trembling as she looked around. She wanted to speak, but couldn't find the words, only watching as Silas lowered his hands, wiping it across his grey trousers.
