"Who's Anna?" I asked a little curious, my voice cutting through the tension in the air.
Freya gazed at me, trying to hide her hatred, but I'd already seen it. She then blinked at me in confusion before finally processing my words.
"Oh… she's Elder Williams' daughter." Freya explained before adding, "She's like me, but acts like a whole female because her father is the chief of this village."
Ah… the entitled female. Forgot that was also part of the beastworld. Freya was quite friendly, so it kind of slipped my mind.
Guess it wouldn't hurt to meet her. See this female's rudeness first hand, so I'd know what to expect. I would have to learn how to deal with entitled females eventually if I was going to be living in this world for the rest of my second life.
May it be a long time filled with great memories.
"I see… So… are we going to meet her?" I questioned, mentally shaking my head at the last thought. "She is calling for us, right?"
"Um yes. She does want to meet you." Freya paused for a moment. "You do understand what I meant by her acting like a whole female?"
"I do." I nodded my head.
At least, I think I have an idea of what to expect. And how to counter it with witty language and sarcasm. Of course, some things would probably just go over their heads considering our vocabs are slightly different.
Sometimes being from another world has its downsides…
Freya narrowed her eyes at me like she didn't really believe me before finally sighing, "Alright… Let's get this over-"
"FREYA! I KNOW YOU'RE THERE!" A shrill voice screamed. "STOP HIDING!"
Freya whined along with her males and I felt pity for them. That voice had my ears aching and I could only imagine how much worse it was with beastmen hearing.
"Guess we should go…" I murmured.
Freya nodded her head in agreement and we quickly made our way downstairs. Once we were outside, I found myself staring at three females with a bunch of males standing behind them.
"Did she have to bring half the village with her…" I muttered under my breath without a second thought.
Freya gave me a strange look, clearly hearing what I said. Thankfully, the person my comment was aimed at didn't hear my words and instead took a step forward with her lackeys moving behind her.
They were all dressed in a similar tunic dress and from the same ears and tail, I took an educated guess that they were jaguar females.
That and the fact that the one in front was Anna, Elder Williams' daughter. At least that was my guess as to who she was. Freya did say she acted like a whole female and from another educated guess and Freya's explanation, whole females were seen as better than females with beastman features.
All in all, staring down at the three females gave me a sense of deja vu. Like I'd seen something like this before somewhere. I didn't have a chance to think about it further, because the female in front opened her mouth.
"Took you long enough prey!" Anna growled, causing Freya to flinch. "You better say sorry for making me wait in this heat for so long."
It didn't take a genius to see she was using Freya being a herbivore as an insult. I wasn't sure if it was insulting because the village was full of predator type beastmen or if herbivores were just generally looked down upon in this world.
Whatever the case was, I didn't take kindly to Anna insulting Freya. Especially to make herself look good in front of others.
I narrowed my eyes at Anna. "No one asked you to come here. You're the rude one for unexpectedly coming here when you knew Freya had a guest."
Maybe it was stupid of me to open my big mouth like that, but I couldn't take her bullying Freya like that. Just because she was Elder Williams' daughter didn't make her better than everyone.
"You have no right to speak here, feral lover." Anna scoffed, flicking her shoulder length blond hair. She gave me a once over and smirked. "Of course, now I understand why you have a feral mate. You're too ugly to get a normal male, so you have to attract the unwanted."
"You're right." Lackey One laughed, causing the others to follow suit. "She looks so horrible, her village must have kicked her out in disgust."
"You mean they must have paid the ferals to take her away." Lackey Two added.
Plastics. I thought as I glared at the trio. They remind me of the Plastics. The beastmen version.
Despite figuring out what they reminded me of, Anna and her lackey's words made my blood boil. It wasn't really them insulting me that got to me, I could take that.
But insulting Ahi, even indirectly, had me turning into the Wicked Witch of the West. I wanted to smack that smirk off her face, but who knows what trouble that'll lead to.
Her males were clearly ready to fight and my only protection was Freya's males. And there was no way I was going to put their lives in danger for pettiness.
Instead, I did the next most immature possible. I turned to Freya, grabbing her arm. "Let's head inside before it gets hotter. Coming here to see a female yap at us was a waste of time."
Maybe it was a mature thing to walk away from the whole situation, but taunting Anna also made it immature at the same time. And she didn't take my words kindly, her smirk turning to a scowl as she realized I was going to ignore her.
"I guess you're going to run away, because you know I'm right." Anna taunted me. "No male wants a female like you-"
Before she could finish, a voice cried out, "I want to be her male!"
Everyone turned their attention to the male who had spoken, my face falling at the sight. Jasper walked over to my side, looking proud at himself while I almost facepalmed.
I thought this situation couldn't get any worse and it just did.
