"Um… where should I start?" I chuckled nervously, unsure exactly what Freya wanted to know.
Well I did have an idea from her countless questions earlier, but it was hard to remember them all when you were getting death stares every few minutes.
Honestly it was being around a possessive villain and his oblivious partner who could do no wrong.
Freya mused, "You're really sheltered, aren't you?"
"...."
I mean it was kind of true that I was sheltered, but that was only because I wasn't from this world. Not because I was some kind of beauty that needed to be hidden from the world.
Although I don't really understand that, but then again I'm going off a tangent.
"Yeah! Most whole females are really arrogant and won't go near females like me." Freya answered. "But you're really nice, even if you gaze at things like you've never seen them before."
"Really…" I raised a brow, making a side note to look into this whole female thing.
And work on my facial expressions. Didn't need any strange characters picking up that I'm 'sheltered'.
"Really. Really." Freya nodded. "I may not look like it, but I saw everything… even my males' glares at you."
I take back that comment about her being oblivious. It's clear now she was just playing dumb. At least her mates looked guilty about being caught when she sent them a glare.
"I see…" I murmured. "Didn't realize I seemed clueless."
"It's fine." Freya waved a hand as William placed cups of water on the table. "Your mate is paying us twenty small crystals a day so I'll teach you everything there is to know about being a female."
"Okay… If that's not too much for you." I replied as I took a cup, sipping on the cool water.
While I was grateful for the help, I couldn't help but feel a little weird about it. Wasn't sure why though.
"It's not too much trouble. Us getting paid twenty crystals is enough to clear our debt. We'll be able to move to the city…" Freya paused for a moment. "But that's enough… Tell me what kind of beast you are."
So crystals were basically currency here. Good to know. I wanted to ask about the debt thing but decided against it. Debt was a touchy subject for a lot of people.
Instead, I answered Freya's question, "I'm human."
I knew it was maybe dumb telling them that, but I didn't really want to lie. Besides, I knew how well it went for a certain female lead who lied about her being an ape.
Was not going to make that mistake.
"H-human?" Freya frowned as she finally accepted being fed. "Is that some feral beast? I've never heard of them."
"Same here." The male Freya was sitting on added, narrowing his eyes at me.
Freya hit the male in the chest. "Shhh! You don't know a lot anyway."
Pfft. It seemed someone didn't hold back and the male who spoke looked like those words cut through him. You could see the physical pain on his face.
"I'm not surprised you don't know we exist." I said, turning Freya's attention back to me. "We're a hidden tribe from far away… one that recently got destroyed."
It was a half-truth made up on the spot, but hopefully my bad sad face would end the topic there. Otherwise, I'd be in some trouble.
And thankfully that was the case. My bad acting worked. Somehow.
Freya gazed at me with sad eyes. "I'm sorry… I didn't mean to bring up bad memories."
"It's okay." I gave her a small smile. "You didn't know. Besides, I have Ahi now."
"Oh that must be you mate!" Freya perked up. "How did you meet?"
"Well… He saved me from a crocodile beastman after I got lost in the jungle." I explained.
I made it look like Ahi saved me because I didn't want anyone knowing about my taser. Didn't need anyone knowing the tricks I had.
Not that anyone would believe a female taking a grown male down.
Freya's eyes sparkled, but before she could say anything there was a knock on the door.
"Anna is demanding you come downstairs with the new female." The red haired from earlier muttered as he walked over to Freya.
Freya's face darkened and I knew this Anna chick was bad news.

The wind shifted, annoying the male for a moment. Wind shouldn't have gotten this far into the underground cave he was dozing in.
Suddenly, the wind got sweeter and caressed his ears, almost like it was begging the male to follow it.
The change woke him for a deep sleep and he decided to tune into the wind. He wasn't really focusing much, just wanting to go back to sleep.
But when he started dozing off again, the wind picked up, much stronger than before. It became more intoxicating and the male knew some was up.
He could feel the rising magic in the air.
Then like a lightning bolt unexpectedly striking down on him the male felt pain seared through him for a split second.
It went as quickly as it came.
But the male already snapped his eyes wide open. He knew whatever was happening was not normal. It was something that would only happen once in his lifetime.
His female was close by, calling for him to find her.
He thought it would never happen and yet it did. Just when he was starting to enjoy lazing around his home. The pain flared up in him again, almost like it was reading his mind.
Grumbling, the male got up and let out a large yawn. Seemed the Beast God was not going to wait for him. He needed to take this chance.
He just hoped the female was worth losing all that sleep.
