«Oh, shit, okay... let's go. Will squeezed his hand, which shimmered with yellow lightning, and a surge of strength hit his chest, sending hot blood rushing through his body.
A flash, and Will disappeared, leaving behind an air wave.
The speed at which he ran was roughly equal to the speed at which the Flash ran, so as not to hurt either the people or the environment he was crossing. The thing was, the Flash's speed could cause natural disasters and even mass explosions if he accelerated enough, so the old Flash often had to restrain his gusts. And that was one of the reasons why he was inferior in physical strength to Superman.
According to the famous formula, force equals mass times acceleration. This meant that the Flash, with his infinitely evolving speed, could potentially develop a force that Superman never dreamed of, but then again, if that happened, the Flash could destroy the Earth.
Funny enough, the same was true for Willard Light, with one exception - he didn't yet know how fast he could be.
Will ran past people walking, leaving behind gusts of wind and surprised looks. He ran past a grandmother whose hat had fallen off, ran past a boy playing with his dog who had dropped his ice cream.....
It turned out that moving at Flash's "everyday" speed was still a skill. Every movement at super-speed was strenuous, even though it could look easy from the outside. Seeing the world moving slowly around you with your own eyes was unusual, inspiring, and maybe some artist could reflect it on a canvas in a blurred form. Except how could one reflect a World of Speed where change was happening Too Fast? For people whose perception was different from normal, they saw the world in a completely different way. This was the world through the eyes of a Speed force wielder.
Will stopped abruptly against a brick wall before his face shattered into a crush. The city dust beneath his feet kicked up, causing people to turn around in surprise.
"There's the parking lot with the fence," a gray, large fence towered directly above him. Five meters high. To the left was a five-story brick building, residential, with Vanessa on the roof, and to the right a guard booth with a horizontally hanging barrier. From the looks of it, nothing remarkable, a quiet neighborhood, right on the border with downtown Gotham.
Behind the fence was a five-story parking lot that looked like a gray castle, connected by a bridge to the glass Newfewch Research Center. It felt like Harley was already hiding there, ready for surprises.
Vanessa noted that there were few people around, and the place itself was dead quiet, calm and important. Something from the category of backwoods, where you can walk with a girl when you want to walk through the city in silence. Only two cars were passing leisurely through the L-shaped road that led to the city center.
Looking up to the roof of the house, Will saw Batgirl already waiting for him on the roof, watching something.
«I see you're already here. I found Harley and her boys. I'll try to get around them from the back, you try to stay quiet and come to me. I marked my position on the map.
Vanessa suddenly jumped down behind a gray wall like a dead monolith.
"For some reason I remember Crazy Frog rolling around on the walls of houses," Will thought to himself.
Running up the wall wasn't that difficult. Pushing off the edge with his heel, he jumped high into the air... not expecting to fly a good few dozen meters from a normal jump.
«MOTHERFUCKER!
Ahead showed the approaching gray walls of a multi-story parking garage. And so once again his strength was out of control.
With inhuman reflex Will put his arms out and prepared to crash straight into the wall at fucking speed, when the air was ringing in his ears and breathing was hindered by the sharp currents of air. At the moment when all his nerves were strained to the limit, his own limbs flashed with lightning and tensed in tenths of a second, as if not only his arms, but all his muscle tissue was capable of accelerating to unimaginable speeds.
If Flash had Speed Force, Willard Light had the limitless power of the God of Thunder.
Disobediently throwing his arms out to the side, Will flipped through the air like a tornado. Will threw his legs up against the wall and pushed backward with the cold precision that had driven Light forward. Buckling under the force of the push, the brick wall dented and cracked helplessly, scattering small shards downward.
The power of his own rotation allowed him to change his trajectory and land on the ground in a sharp roll, fully taking some of the impact on his chakra-strengthened body parts. And all this without a single error in his own chakra control.
«It's weird, I haven't been myself lately," Will said, stretching his neck.
What he had just pulled off came out on pure reflexes, as if he had performed a complicated trick without thinking. Usually such movements were born in the aftermath of a series of complex and long years of training, reinforced not only by new connections in the neurons of the brain, but also expressed in muscle memory, which could not be formed by a click. No human being in reality was capable of overcoming a time span that required not only the fulfillment of constant external oppression and internal effort, but also resources for development that could not be shoved into themselves in a couple of days. And when it came to the amount of food and micronutrients needed to strengthen and build the body of a superhuman - even theoretical calculations produced impossible figures. In other words, it took much more time than a couple of years to overcome the physical limits and develop non-human reflexes and necessary habits. And no amount of genetics, even the most outstanding, would change that factor. But Will did it immediately - pulled off an impossible trick that he wouldn't have been able to repeat a minute ago. As a confirmation of the "limit break" all over his body, his muscles, wrists and even the places of bending began to ache sharply - they were simply not used to such a load, but still endured, because the permissible limits were not broken. It was as if his own body was waiting for the moment when Will would develop it enough for it to show him more, but until that moment came, it would be up to his own physical limitations.
Will was a little frightened of his own abilities, which were growing at an unsteady rate. Whether it was because of what had happened on the World of War or not, he gradually felt his own body gradually transforming, as if it were awakening long-dormant instincts that had always been with him, but he needed time and conditions to reveal them. Otherwise, it was impossible to explain such a sharp growth from the point of view of usual biology. Usually, it was a lethal condition or a great shock that was the trigger for changes in a living creature's organism, and the deadly battle against Nz-z-zik had been that moment in Willard Light's life.
«Yeah, that was pretty good. Who the hell are you? - A mocking voice asked.
Rounding Will's back in a deft movement, a girl in a red and black costume appeared before him... Harlequino.
Will abruptly took a step back, watching Harley Kline herself laugh and gasp at his reaction. There were at least ten pumped up and crazy guys in Harley's entourage, grinning creepily and moronically.
«Look at the suit he's wearing. What are you, another Betsy, Pudding?
«So what was the plan, you say? - Will asked Vanessa over the comms.
«You idiot, Willard Light! Wait for me! - Vanessa shouted irritably in his ear.
«What's the holdup, Cupcake? Did you really come here with Betty-Baby? - Harley asked cheerfully, deftly pulling a huge wooden mallet from behind her back.
"Oh wow..."
«Ha ha ha!
Harley swung the hammer at Will, but he bounced back sharply. The clown quickly spotted Vanessa flying up into the sky, and ordered her boys to run inside the parking lot while she continued to try to get her hands on the newly minted hero.
Everything was happening so fast that Will acted purely by reflex, first he ducked away from the hammer coming down on his head, and then he crashed into Harley with a run, wrapping both arms around her ass and... waist.
"Can't say I didn't do it on purpose... but I hope Kara doesn't find out," he thought as he crashed into a pile of wooden crates and tire tires that lay outside the warehouse.
«Whoo-hoo! Fun! You move pretty fast! - Harley laughed, and though her words were playful and carefree, she pulled out a smaller hammer from somewhere... and of course she smacked Will with it.
And while Will was trying to get away from her, there was a sound in his ear:
«Watch out! Harley Quinn is proficient with most edged weapons, and keeps them hidden in hidden pockets at all times.
«Yeah, I noticed that!
«Who are you talking to, Pudding? I thought we were on a date!
BAM. The hammer whizzed right in front of Will's eyes, hitting him in the face with an air gust. As Will caught hold of Harley, she tossed the hammer into his hands and with a deft backflip, to the cheerful soft laughter, went sideways. And in the seconds that Will marveled at her agility and figure... the hammer suddenly exploded, throwing him several meters away.
«Will! - Vanessa shouted.
«Uh-oh, Batgirl Jr.! Has Batman Sr. found himself another Robin? Well, next time, tell him not to throw toys around or they might explode. Bye-bye! - Harley whispered in a sweet voice, sending them a kiss, and disappeared into the walls of the underground parking garage.
His ears were a little ringing and dizzy, but overall Will felt fine. As he stood up, Vanessa ran over to him and glanced to the side. There, apparently noting Will's health indicators gathered from his suit, considering her next words:
«Judging by your condition, you're within normal limits. Can you move? - she said.
«I guess that's a rhetorical question," Will sighed. - Of course I can.
«You should stop fooling around and use your power or we'll be overtaken by the Titans," she said glumly.
«Wait, are you seriously trying to compete with them?
«It's a great workout. For you.
«Come on, you can't be serious, can you?
«Seriously, because you're not much use right now.
«I'm just warming up.
«Yeah, whatever you say. Now, you follow Harley, I'll sneak into the building through the roof and cover you.
«You're not even gonna ask me how I survived the explosion? Wait, what? You want me to go in there alone?
«Like I said, you need to learn to control the dormant power inside you. A real fight with assassins is the perfect time. Or are you getting cold feet? - she grinned.
«You know how I've told you before that you're really annoying?
«I'll take that as a compliment. Now let's get to work, we don't have much time. - Vanessa threw, flying up into the air in a sudden burst.
«Hey, wait, what are they doing out there?
Will pointed to a glass building so fifty stories high that towered over the parking lot. There, Raven in her black and purple cape and Superboy hovered in the air.
«I think it might have something to do with Harley. We'll find out as the mission progresses," Vanessa said.
«Hey, I don't like the sound of your voice. You don't want to interfere with their mission, do you?
«I didn't say anything, but..." she grinned slyly, "I'm glad you're picking up on my thoughts quickly. Plans change, you deal with Harley, and I direct you to them. We'll probably figure out what's going on here soon.
Vanessa jumped onto the roof of the parking garage and out of Will's sight as he finally shook himself off and slowly made his way down to the underground part of the parking garage.
As expected, Harley was gone, as were her accomplices. The parking lot was empty, and when Will reached the guard station, he saw only the guards who had been disarmed.
"Did you find out where they are?" asked Vanessa over the remote link.
"They're already inside," Will replied as he stepped through the turnstile. - "They're probably headed for the bridge between the parking lot and the research center."
"So we'll meet soon."
"Hey, be careful."
"Why are you suddenly worried about me?"
Will pressed his lips together, stopping beside the unconscious guard, who was sprawled beside a lonely battery. It was a shame to leave the guy like that, and he had to call the police somehow.
"Should there be any reason to worry about your partner?" - Will said.
"I'm getting closer to the target. Talk to you later," and the connection cut off.
«Tsk, I can't tell her that Bats asked me to follow her, can I? - and then glanced at the guard, "Handcuffs, huh? Where's the key? - looked around, but found nothing. Left his gaze on his hands. - Well, I've done something like this once before.
He filled his hands with chakra and ripped open the cuffs. But he overdid it, and inadvertently hit the wall, scattering its concrete component like sand. A battered guard jumped up and slumped against the wall.
«You! The bastard who's with them!
Will held up a hand to reassure him.
«Whoa, whoa, whoa! Buddy! You got it all wrong, I actually set you free! Don't you see my costume? I'm-" and while Will pondered how he should introduce himself....
«Who are you kidding, you look like a juvenile delinquent! I'll get you!
Swinging his chair, the guard inadvertently hit an old TV attached to the wall that weighed at least ten pounds... and as he watched it start to fall, Will thought, "You know what, fuck you."
With a clatter, the guard fell to the floor, right next to the broken TV. Will grinned, got to his feet, and shook his hands off smugly, as if he'd just thrown a dusty bag of garbage in the trash.
«Serves you right, man.

Will rushed through the open iron doors, and the Sensation Sphere let him know that there were at least two people ahead of him. Will turned right and found himself in a white and even dingy hallway with flashing lights, something reminiscent of hospitals in horror movies.
His senses were tense, and for good reason. Two thugs with masks painted with clownish grins opened fire, and Will jerked back sharply.
The bullets flew past, hitting the wall with a ringing thud.
«Here's the uro...
Will was behind him and his buddy before the thug could speak. He knocked the first bastard out with a solid punch to the back of the head, and tripped the second and drove his head into the floor.
"Right on Vanessa's precepts."
«Man...way to not go overboard with this costume.
"In assessing the nature of your movements, I would like to say they are excellent, Master Light. The targets were immobilized with minimal risk to life, despite the traumatic blow to the head."
«Uh... well, thanks, I guess.
"I didn't try though...it came out on its own."
After getting rid of the weapons in the thugs' hands, Will pulled handcuffs from his suit belt and tied their hands together.
"How funny... it's like I'm a cop, but kind of a hero too. Hmm..." - Will straightened up and exhaled as if he had just beaten up some fierce villains. At the very edge of the Feeling Sphere, there was a vague sense of an alien presence.
"Harley and the others are already at the bridge."
«Rgh..." one of the bandits came to his senses and coughed.
«Oh... by the way, can you tell me why Harley came here? - Will asked.
«Rggh...fuck you, you piece of shit!
Will jammed his head into the tile one more time, and the thug howled in pain like a scared bitch.
«Come on, buddy, come on, why don't we talk like men? - Will asked.
«Come on...I'll tell you, I'll tell you! Harley's got some contract with some asshole at a research lab! They're working on some weird shit that's totally mind-blowing! Well, that's what Harley said.
And from the look on his dumb face, he didn't realize it himself.
"Now I see why Batman used force in interrogations all the time - simple and effective.
«Harley as a mercenary? That's new. And what was so interesting she decided to find? - Will reasoned aloud and knocked the bandit out with a nice punch, then took the guns and crumpled them so the bandits wouldn't use them after they woke up.
In the movies, yes, you knock out a bandit and that's it, you win. But in reality, after losing consciousness, people stay in this state for no more than five minutes. There are cases when people are unconscious for more than five minutes, but this is more likely a sign of a strong blow or critical illness, which should immediately call an ambulance. Thus, no matter how you beat assholes, they woke up quite quickly, which made it very difficult to detain them without handcuffs.
Will pinned the two unconscious thugs to the battery and exhaled contentedly.
«Yeah, it's a tough job for a hero.
The sense sphere suggested that Harley had already left above the fifth floor and was moving through the passage between buildings to the research tower, but they were stopped.
Will reached the transition in less than a minute and saw Harley run down a long corridor with windows and disappear around a corner. Then she was thrown backward by a powerful blow, and Vanessa appeared in the corridor in her bat gear.
They started shooting, in which Vanessa showed her usual excellent skills, but Harley was not inferior to her. The experience of constant clashes with Batman was evident. All the power of the costume was offset by Harley's cunning and clownish devices, which caused Vanessa obvious difficulties.
Will ran across the corridor to help Vanessa, but suddenly he felt something coming toward him from the right, outside. And then the line of windows on the bridge was broken by swift green vines, followed by a red-haired woman with green skin and incredibly seductive, scarlet lips.
Poison Ivy herself, adjusting her jacket with a deep neckline of huge boobs, arched an eyebrow when she saw Will. She didn't seem to have expected to see so many people. Her vines formed an impenetrable forest that completely blocked the passage to Vanessa and Harley. It seemed that Poison Ivy had intervened in the situation for a reason.
«Oh mai...," Will whispered.
«There's a lot of you here," Ivy said, expressing her displeasure.
Ivy was to be feared because of several things. One, she was a powerful "villainess" whose power could subdue heroes like Superman, and two, she could destroy entire buildings with her power. And thirdly... she had a monstrous amount of experience fighting Batman.
That was why Willard immediately tensed up and stopped having fun. At this moment, Ivy pointed a bunch of sharp vines with deadly blades in his direction, showing an obvious attack at first glance.
Will looked around carefully, afraid of Ivy's sudden attacks, which could come from anywhere, which didn't surprise the red-haired beauty. She didn't seem to be surprised by anything at all. It seemed that she did not see Will as a serious opponent. And that was understandable. Not many people thought about it, but all Batman's enemies had one big advantage, which Will started to notice when he got to the real DC world instead of its cartoon universe, namely - constantly fighting with Batman and occasionally giving him a decent response, his sworn enemies learned to think more broadly.
And Ivy among them. wasn't the least of them.
"It's about time I surprised her," Will thought, and lunged forward.
This was just what Ivy had been waiting for.
«You're agile. Batman taught you a lot," Poison Ivy clenched her fist, and literally out of nowhere, an impenetrable cocoon of poison vines formed around Will. - But you didn't learn the basic lesson - you speedsters have a weakness in your legs.
He was facing this situation for the first time, so he realized too late that he was trapped. He realized too late that he was trapped. The sharp throw of the vine had flashed before his eyes just as his escape routes were closed, and the last attack had been followed by a dozen more. Ivy had calculated her attack ahead of time, not only cutting off Willard's escape routes, but doing it at a moment when Will's aggravated movements were useless - in other words.... if you're already captured, quick movements won't do you any good. She knew Flash's weaknesses well enough to use them against Will.
«Here comes the hero! - came a familiar, cheerful voice.
At that moment a huge green elephant flew into the corridor-bridge through a hole in the wall and crashed into the cocoon surrounding Will. Beast Boy wrapped his trunk around it to protect it from Ivy's successive attacks, and at the same moment the sharp plants became more numerous, and they came down on Beast Boy in a threatening wave, literally cutting his skin.
And although this rescue was successful, Beast Boy was already starting to get seriously tired, and was losing strength.
And then something else happened that surprised everyone: dozens of vines suddenly snapped apart, causing a frown of annoyance on Ivy's focused face. The air vibrated with something ominous, and a shiver ran down Will's skin. Violet rays struck the remains of the plants in a smeared flash, forming a dark cloud in the air with a demonic face contorted in anger, with several evil-distorted scarlet eyes blazing at it. It was an inhuman presence.
«I told you to wait for me," Raven said, casting dark magic off Ivy's plant walls and landing on the floor in front of Ivy. - By the way, if you lay a hand on my boyfriend again, I'll rip your heart out, bitch.
«Oh, you're so scary," Ivy replied.
«Raven! You're just in time, baby! - shouted Beast Boy, "Hey, Will, good to see you, buddy! We met even sooner than I thought!
«I thought you were going to slack off, but it looks like you've been put to work," Will said mockingly.
«Well... you know," Beast Boy stretched out.
«By the way, why don't you get off me?
All the while, Will held Beast Boy in his arms.
«How long are you two going to keep this up? It's not easy for me to hold Ivy alone," Raven said, not even turning to look at the boys. She had the difficult task of holding back Ivy's attacks, which were hitting her magic barrier with a series of powerful attacks.
«By the way, how did you end up here, Will?
«Vanessa and I were chasing Harley. They got some kind of order from a local researcher," Will explained, setting Beast Boy on the floor.
«I'm sorry to interrupt your lovely conversation... but I think I'm going to kill you," Ivy said, arching an eyebrow.
And her plants snapped ravenously and struck Raven, who immediately swept them into the wall, and there was a rumble, the bridge between the research building and the service parking lot beginning to shake. The floor beneath the plants and Ivy began to crumble, gradually reaching Will and the others as well.
«Hold on guys, I'm going to help you now! - shouted Raven.
But she was interrupted by a vine that struck her from the side, throwing her aside. Ivy's plants clung to the walls and picked up her mistress, sending her straight at Harley and Vanessa, who was having trouble with the enemy's numerical superiority.
«Raven! - Shouted the Green Boy.
The floor beneath his feet collapsed, and Beast Boy began to fall with his girlfriend.
«Bye-bye, kids," Ivy said, closing the remaining aisle with thorny plants.
«Hold on, buddy! - Will shouted, grabbing Beast Boy's arm.
It all happened in a matter of moments, like a shiver through his skin. Will leapt toward the wall, pushed himself off it, and flashed yellow, accelerating beyond his usual super-speed. He flew under Raven and, hitting the vines with his feet holding her back, ripped a piece of the plant with a powerful jerk, freeing Raven from the plant's powerful grip.
«How did you get here? - Beast Boy asked in surprise.
«Don't get distracted! - Raven shouted, flying into the air and fending off another of Ivy's in-flight attacks.
Will had to admit that Poison Ivy remained a serious adversary even when she first appeared as a villain in DC. And after time, having gained experience, she became one of Batman's most powerful opponents. She could single-handedly replace an entire army, which could not compete with her natural power.
In a way, Will could risk throwing himself right at her, but then there was the risk of her gaining control over him, because Ivy possessed a kiss that subdued people.
Raven picked up Beast Boy and Will with magic, then flew straight for the wall.
«Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
«Don't worry, she knows what she's doing! - shouted Beast Boy cheerfully, smiling at the approaching wall.
And so they flew right through the wall, falling right into the research building. Silver squared floors and dingy walls greeted them. And among them, in the grip of poisonous vines, Vanessa Wayne twisted painfully.
«Hey, Ivy, whose fault is it that they ended up here? - Harley, clearly overplaying her hand, took her favorite hammer in her hands while Ivy sighed, "Oh, okay, I'll take care of it!
