Chapter 24 - The auction 2

As more and more items were auctioned, the atmosphere in the auction house gradually became livelier. After about 2 hours of non-stop auctioning, a beautiful woman brought a scroll on stage.

At first glance, this scroll looked extremely ordinary, but the audience knew something that could be brought out in the auction, especially this late into the game, was definitely special.

The melodious voice of Amanda rang out as she said,

"Dear guests, this scroll contains the top-grade Silver grade martial skill, the Earth Fist".

"It was entrusted to us by someone who obtained a fortuitous encounter and managed to obtain this skill".

"The asking price is 20,000 low-grade Qi stones, and each increment must be at least 1,000 Qi stones."

As soon as her voice fell, the auction house became dead silent for a moment before erupting in discussions.

"Oh my God, so expensive!"

"I've never even seen that many Qi stones before."

"Only the big shots in the private rooms will probably be able to afford it."

"Sigh...this auction has nothing to do with us poor folks."

Multiple discussions broke out among people on the ground floor. As these discussions were going on, the bidding had already started.

"20,000 low-grade Qi stones."

"22,000 low-grade Qi stones."

"25,000 low-grade Qi stones."

Various voices belonging to the individuals in the private rooms rang out.

"28,000 low-grade Qi stones. Everyone, my Jones family is interested in this martial skill. Please do us a favor this one time."

An old man's voice sounded out from one of the private rooms. The Jones family was a noble family that resided in Gellock City. They really weren't anything special.

"Hmph, who gives a shit about your Jones family."

"30,000 low-grade Qi stones".

A cold voice replied to the man from the Jones family as he also raised the price. The auction continued, and the price was increased by various individuals.

Finally, after the price reached 41,000 low-grade Qi stones, many people gave up, and the Jones family finally won it. The old man seemed dead set on obtaining that martial skill, and he finally got it.

After the successful auction, another item was brought on stage. This time, it was an axe. It was about three feet long with a double-sided blade that shone under the lights of the auction house.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this axe is a peak silver-grade weapon that was obtained alongside the axe by the same individual.

The starting price of this axe is 30,000 low-grade Qi stones, and the increments have to be at least 1,000 low-grade Qi stones."

As soon as Amanda's words fell, a commotion was made in the auction house.

"Oh my God! A peak silver-grade weapon. I've never even seen one before."

"Damn, my sword is just a mid-grade bronze-rank weapon. How powerful would a peak silver-grade weapon be?"

"Ahh, I'm so jealous. I wish I could just snatch it off the stage."

"Hehe, try that and your head will fly off faster than you can even think."

As the various discussions rang out, the eyes of the people in the private rooms started sparkling.

Some people who were previously dejected that they had missed out on the martial skill were now happy that they hadn't bid on it.

If they had, they wouldn't have enough money for this axe. Their eyes turned red as they were determined to get this axe. There was a reason why the commotion was much more than that of the martial skill.

A martial skill could be copied and spread to multiple individuals. In fact, the one that was auctioned off today was probably also a copy. However, a weapon was different.

A good weapon could allow its user to burst out with power far greater than their level. In high-level battles, the difference between two cultivators of similar strength would be the quality of their weapons.

The bids rose quickly and soon surpassed 50,000 Qi stones. As soon as the people thought the bidding was over, a voice resounded in everyone's ears.

"55,000 low-grade Qi stones."

As soon as people heard the voice, the noise quietened down.

That was the city lord. The face of the person who had previously bid turned ugly.

He had previously thought that no one would be able to compete with him for this axe and that it was already his.

Now, he wasn't so sure.

Even though he was from one of the noble families in the city and the city lord wouldn't threaten him, it was still a bad idea to compete with the city lord for an item.

He gritted his teeth and tried for the last time.

" 60,000 low-grade Qi stones."

"65,000 low-grade Qi stones."

The city lord's impassive voice sounded again without delay. It was as if he didn't care about the price of the item. The man's face fell as he knew he had lost this battle. He wasn't rich enough to spend that much on a single item.

Since no other bids were made, the item was won by the city lord. After a few more items were auctioned off, the whole auction house gradually became silent.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the main event of the evening."

As soon as Amanda said this, a stalk of grass was brought out on stage by an attendant.

It looked like an ordinary stalk of grass. The only difference was that it was completely silver in color.

"I'm sure many of you have an idea about the final item of this auction. I won't waste anyone's time anymore. This is the Gold rank silvereye grass. It's a remarkable ingredient that can be used to make a Gold rank pill."

"The starting price for this item is 60,000 Qi stones and each increase must be at least 2,000 Qi stones."

As soon as she finished speaking, the whole auction house fell into silence for a brief moment before there was an uproar. Many eyes shone with delight and greed upon seeing the grass.

Anything of the Gold rank was a rare commodity in Gellock City and didn't appear easily in the city. It was usually snatched up before anyone noticed, and one being available for auction was even rarer.
