This was supposed to be foolproof, and everything had been going according to plan.... Until it wasn't. He wasn't expecting that, even after killing his lifelong nemesis, Melvin, he wasn't able to obtain the silvereye grass. Several scenarios were going through his mind.
Maybe Melvin hid it somewhere they couldn't find it? However, he quickly dismissed this thought. They acted quickly to prevent this from happening in the first place. The only other conclusion would be....' someone else beat me to it'.
As soon as he thought of this, a cold glint flashed through his eyes as he tried to figure out who it was. The next day, a piece of shocking news spread through the city.
The news of alchemist Melvin's death spread like wildfire throughout the city. Many people knew about the auction and knew that he had obtained a significant windfall.
However, no one would expect that he would be attacked so quickly. After all, there were very few individuals who could threaten alchemist Melvin in Gellock City. He was one of the only two Silver grade alchemists in the city.
Even the city lord would think twice before antagonizing such a renowned alchemist. The death caused a wave of mixed reactions among the residents. City guards started patrolling all across town, and even the guards at the gates started taking action.
Everyone who wanted to leave had to undergo stringent scrutiny from the guards in order to go through the city gates.
This was the action of the city lord. While he might not have shown it, he was also secretly interested in this matter. Under the guise of investigations, he was hoping to use this method to find alchemist Melvin's killer.
Of course, this wasn't out of camaraderie as he himself was not too fond of Melvin. Melvin had always been arrogant towards him, and even if he wasn't directly rude, he didn't show him as much respect as the other bigwigs in the city.
The city lord wanted to find Melvin's treasures. Particularly, the silvereye grass. He knew that this was probably the reason why Melvin was killed. This made Adrian give up on his plans of leaving immediately.
If he tried to leave now, not only would Melvin's storage ring be discovered on him, but he would also be exposing his identity.
Storage rings of the same rank could not be kept within each other. Since his storage ring was of the Gold grade, he could store Melvin's Bronze grade storage ring inside it.
The problem was the fact that nobody in the city, not even the City Lord, had a gold grade storage ring. An item of that value was far too precious and couldn't be found in such a small city.
Forget Melvin's storage ring, if they found out that a 'rogue' cultivator like him had a Gold grade storage ring, all hell would break loose.
Even in such a small city, he still had to tread carefully. He was still too weak to challenge the powers in the city. There were multiple individuals in the Golden core realm, and squashing him would be easy for them.
It wasn't that he hadn't thought of the consequences of his actions, however, there was nothing to be done. This was the only way he could obtain a suitable cauldron to practice alchemy.
As he lay in bed thinking about this problem, his mind drifted off to another storage tool he had. He glanced down to look at the Blood Star around his neck as a seemingly crazy idea appeared in his mind.
Due to his recent 'busy' schedule, he hadn't had time to truly think about the blood star. All he remembered from the inheritance was that it was a Supreme rank artifact.
"Supreme rank, huh?" Adrian muttered to himself absentmindedly. He had never heard of the supreme rank before. The highest rank of weapons and artifacts that he knew of was the Celestial rank.
'Is the Supreme rank higher, or is it just a different classification system?' He asked this question to no one in particular. Well, that wasn't what was important now.
He knew the Blood Star was a storage artifact. Perhaps he could use it to get out of his current predicament.
As soon as this thought came into his mind, it sprouted like grass that refused to be weeded.
Upon further thought, he realized its feasibility. The blood star was a supreme treasure capable of storing anything.
Perhaps it could also store other storage treasures.
Before, Adrian did not know how to use the blood star because it hadn't 'chosen' him yet. While it was a supreme treasure, the space within it was limited by the strength of its wielder.
In the hands of the sage of slaughter, the space inside it was so vast, it could only be considered endless. It was like its own separate world.
However, after passing away, the treasure reverted to its default configuration. The space inside shrank until it completely encapsulated the inheritance left behind by the Sage of Slaughter.
However, now that Adrian was its new owner and it was completely empty, the space inside was only about 500 cubic meters. However, this did not reduce the value of the pendant.
The true value of the pendant lay in its ability to store ANYTHING.
Things that would not normally be able to be stored were capable of being stored in the pendant....Including life. That was why it was so valuable.
Of course, Adrian didn't know the full extent of its abilities and would only find out later in the future. He circulated his qi to activate the pendant while holding Melvin's storage ring.
A formless, invisible energy gushed out of the pendant and encapsulated the ring.
Immediately, the ring vanished from his hand. Adrian immediately sent his spirit into the pendant. Since he was the owner of the Blood Star, everything inside was within his sight. To his delight, he found the storage ring lying on the ground in the pendant.
This confirmed his guess. Now he could leave the city without worry. However, he decided to wait for a while. There was no reason to rush. Time passed and soon, a week had gone by.
