Chapter 29 - Back in Stonehold City

On this day, a carriage drawn by two magical beasts was seen leaving Gellock City.

This was Adrian and the kids, along with another young man.

The young man whose name was John was a slave that Adrian had bought in Gellock City.

He was around 18 years old and was an ordinary mortal whom Adrian had hired. He was an orphan that Adrian found on one of his tours of the city with the children.

Initially, Adrian was against hiring a mortal, but he could only relent in front of Olivia's pleading. He reluctantly approached him and offered him a job. The only reason he hired him was so they could have a coachman for their wagon.

Even though he could do it, he felt like it would be a waste of his time. The young man was naturally elated and immediately agreed without hesitation.

To Adrian, it was a spontaneous decision, but for John, it was a chance of a lifetime. As a resident of the city, he knew that the major powers had people with Golden Core realm strength.

To be able to work for someone whose strength was directly below that was a heaven-sent opportunity. If not for Adrian stopping him, he would have prostrated himself and started kissing his feet then and there.

The four returned to the courtyard, and with a warning from Adrian, the magical beasts calmed down and didn't make any trouble for John.

As they approached the gates of the city, Adrian sat down in the carriage with two kids beside him.

This time they didn't bother to hide. Because the guards were stricter with their inspections, and also there was no reason to.

The guards conducted their inspection and didn't find anything amiss. Adrian had already kept both his storage ring and that of Melvin's inside the Blood Star.

They were able to leave the city smoothly and without a fuss. As they traveled through the wilderness, Adrian spent his time cultivating. Aside from this, he also spent time with Jayson and Olivia.

This solidified their bond as a family. Now both he and Jayson wholeheartedly considered Olivia to be their sister. Two months quickly passed like this before they finally arrived at Stonehold City.

Returning to this city brought a mix of emotions back for him. The last time he was leaving this city, he was the young master of the Thorne family and was destined for greatness.

But now, upon his return...

"Hahh", he let out a long sigh before silently clenching his fist and steeling his resolve.

After paying the toll at the gate, they entered the familiar city.

Well, the city was only familiar to Adrian. Both kids were excited as they took in all the different sights in this seemingly large and vibrant city. It was their first time in such a large city aside from Thorne City.

After making their way towards a fairly large inn, Adrian rented out a slightly larger courtyard this time. He rented it out for a whole year, spending most of the Qi stones he had left.

Now that they were going to settle down in this city for who knows how long, he decided it would be better for them to have their own residence. However, with the property prices in Stonehold city, they could only afford to rent.

The courtyard had 2 bedrooms. Adrian took one while the two kids shared another. Their servant John would sleep in the living room. It also had a concealment formation, which was important to Adrian. He didn't want anyone to know he was practicing alchemy.

After finally settling down, it was already evening. John went to prepare their meals while the kids went to take a bath. Adrian was also a little tired and decided to take a shower as well. After everyone had freshened up, they had dinner together.

Both Olivia and Jayson were finally excited to have proper meals. All they had been eating for the past two months were roasted meat and rations left over from the mountain room.

Adrian was amused watching the two kids stuff their faces with food. When they were done, everyone retired to bed for the night.

Tomorrow was going to be a brand new start for them, so they were all looking forward to it.

After putting the kids to bed, Adrian finally went back to his room. As he sat on his bed, he began to take inventory of his possessions. He had about 50,000 low-grade Qi stones left.

For an ordinary person, this would be a staggering amount, but for the heir of one of the great families, this was simply pitiful. Alchemy was a path that required money.

The price of herbs was certainly not cheap, and a large amount of resources were needed to nurture a single alchemist. He brought out Melvin's storage ring from the blood star and started to inspect it.

After the owner died, the seal on the ring was automatically broken, which saved him some effort.

Inside the storage ring, he found a sizable amount of Bronze grade herbs. These herbs were the most common and basic herbs used to practice alchemy.

He also found a few Silver grade herbs. Among the rank 2 herbs was a box. Adrian could guess the content of the box. During the week he spent in Gellock City after the incident, he had come to know the outcome of the auction.

He brought it out, opened it, and, sure enough, inside it was the Gold grade Silvereye grass.

He wasn't too surprised as he had already guessed the contents of the box.

Rather, his gaze fell on the herb as he picked it up and admired its dazzling silver.

He finally knew where it got its name from as his gaze moved to the leaves on the stem.

The shape of the eyes was distinct as they looked as if they were staring right back at him. To be honest, it was a little creepy.

He put the grass back into the box and kept it inside the Blood Star.

He peeked back into the storage ring and his gaze finally landed on the thing he was the most excited about. He brought out the cauldron and stared at it with an excited look in his eyes.
