Chapter 21 - Gellock City

He was, after all at the fifth level of the foundation establishment realm. They posed no threat to him at all. While Adrian and his crew were eating. They were suddenly surrounded by the bandits.

"Haha, what do we have here, boys?"

The leader said in a mocking tone. He was completely confident in their victory. After all, they not only outnumbered them, but their levels were also higher.

The mercenaries that Adrian hired were already on their feet with their weapons drawn. Their faces were filled with apprehension as they were surveying their surroundings, while calculating their chances of victory.

Adrian just sat there and continued his meal silently. His indifference annoyed the bandits.

"Damn it. Before we just came here for the money, but it seems like this idiot has a death wish." With that, they attacked abruptly.

Since the attack was abrupt, the three mercenaries could not react in time. Throughout the encounter, Adrian had not released his aura at all, so the bandits naturally did not know his true cultivation level. If they did, they wouldn't have dared to attack them.

They thought that his level was similar to theirs or just a little better. Three bandits rushed towards him and swung their sabers downwards without any hesitation.

It was at this moment that Adrian, who was previously sitting leisurely, vanished before their eyes.

He appeared behind one of the bandits and threw a simple punch. This 'simple' punch actually pierced through the man's body and shattered his heart directly.

He vanished again and appeared in front of another bandit and threw another punch towards his head.

His head exploded into bits and pieces while Adrian made his way towards the third bandit.

A kick sent him flying, and he crashed into a nearby tree. His life and death remained unknown.

All these took place in the span of a few breaths, and when he was done, he just stood there staring and the rest of the bandits while swiping his hand to get rid of the excess blood leisurely.

The bandits stood there in horror while the mercenaries were shocked. All of the previous experiences left Adrian with a lot of pent-up anger.

He had been keeping it together for the sake of the kids, but the attack now just gave him an outlet.

He released all his fury, and he rushed towards the bandits and started attacking wantonly.

He targeted the bandit leader and attacked him with a flurry of punches. The other mercenaries also found their opponents while the remaining bandits rushed to help their leader.

However, the bandits were only delaying the inevitable as a punch from Adrian landed on the chest of the bandit leader.

Blood splattered as the bandit leader was sent flying away.

The remaining bandits saw this and started running away, trying to escape. They knew they had no chance if even their leader was dead.

But how could Adrian let them escape? He promptly chased after them and swiftly dispatched them one by one. Some tried to beg for mercy, but Adrian didn't care to listen.

When he returned, he found out that his bodyguards had already completed their battles.

When Adrian returned, they looked at him with a mixture of admiration and curiosity.

They didn't expect that their employer would be so fierce. One of them was even wondering what they were doing there if he was so strong.

Adrian quietly went up to the body of the leader and took off his storage ring. This was an unexpected find. One had to know that storage rings were not something a Qi Condensation stage cultivator could get their hands on.

Even rogue Foundation Establishment cultivators would have a hard time getting one. After searching through the ring, all he found were some piles of qi stones, a few low-level pills, and other items that Adrian considered junk.

He was about to toss it aside when he noticed a map made of beast skin in the corner of the ring. He took it out and opened it. Anything that a bandit kept must be a treasure.

The map depicted a mountain range that Adrian was all too familiar with. It was the misty mountains. However, the stretch of mountains depicted on the map was unfamiliar to him.

Adrian stared at the map that showed a winding path within the mountain range.

However, this mountain range looked unfamiliar. He guessed that it was in the inner regions of the misty mountain. He was currently not strong enough to explore it.

He kept it within his storage ring and took out a piece of cloth to wipe his bloody hand.

He then sat down quietly as if he had not just killed a few men. The mercenaries saw this and decided not to disturb him. Instead, they searched the rest of the bandit's body to see if they could get lucky.

The rest of the night passed by in an uneventful manner.

After a couple more days, they reached their destination, which was Gellock City. It was another small city similar in size to Roser City. However, it was in a much more widely known that the hidden and deserted Roser City.

After arriving, Adrian promptly paid the mercenaries and sent them on their way. This was the destination he had told them they would be travelling to.

Then he brought out the kids who were already bored out of their minds after spending a few days in the carriage. He decided to explore the city with them while searching for a suitable place to stay.

The children's eyes sparkled as they could finally move around freely. All they had been doing for the past week was cultivating.

Even Olivia had started cultivating. She was already nine years old, so starting a bit early wasn't too much of an issue.

Besides, the cultivation technique that she was using was one that was extremely suitable for her. Initially, when they were discussing the issue, what Adrian was worried about was her talent and aptitude.

Since she was initially brought in as a servant, both of those criteria weren't tested so he wasn't sure what would suit her best. He took a shot in the dark and ended up picking a wood-attribute cultivation technique.

He was pleasantly surprised when the technique he picked was very compatible with her. It was one of the techniques from the inheritance, so it was definitely one of the best.
