"Why do they keep a monster that would need corpses?" Emma asked.
"Money, they made a deal with a conscious Lost, who used to be a great spirit, whose ability was to control Lost. They used the controlled Lost for transport, work, and food. The wrong thing about it is that it needs a mountain of fresh corpses every week. Shy House got hold of this information somehow, and made a deal with. They would be doing the dirty work for them, and in exchange they would be able to roam around free, and sometimes Alita would even help them out, and get 5% of their profits. Figured id just explain this to you guys, before something stupid happens. " Alita explained.
"What? Why!?" Emma and Oliver said in unison.
"So we can't get justice?" Oliver asked.
"Why would money be the drive? If they were that powerful, couldn't they just do stuff, and no one would stop them." Emma asked, due to her suffering.
"If we are a part of Avid, no we cannot get justice."
"Emma, great spirits are in control of this world, although George doesn't do much. He does harm those who mess with his taxpayers." Alita answered their questions leaving the area, and the two followed.
"You guys must be running really low on spirituality by now, we got to go back to base."
As soon as Alita said that, Emma remembered that she had felt really weak, and broken. Resulting her to ask Alita to guide her back to the base.
During the whole walk back Emma just asked Alita some questions she had on her mind, because of her suffering of course. She also had been thinking to herself about something, how much work did she have to do to get her wish?
Emma accidently said that aloud, because she had already spoken the questions that had come to mind.
"Alot, I don't know what your wish is, but I know for a fact it's probably going to be a whole lot of work. so much that you might even think to yourself that you hate the wish that you seeked for so badly, you forget the meaning of your convictions, and even think that it would be impossible to get. So if you don't continue to try getting your wish, even if you feel otherwise , you might never be able to get it.
"My advice to you is, continue to chase your wish, even if you learn to hate because of how much work that has to be done. If you still hate it when you get your wish, then you can just toss it aside, and try getting some other wish." Alita answered.
"I'm willing to do anything for this wish, I don't mind doing a bit of work," Emma responded, playing along since she already heard her talk about it.
"Alright that's good then, just promise me not to hurt yourself too much for this wish, or at least know the value of yourself, and your wish, to determine the best course of action."
"Um, Alright I will." Emma answered.
Emma wondered why Alita had told her that like she was a suicidal person, sure she was depressed, but anyone would be depressed after seeing so much dead people that she knew, and breaking what she thought was a strong conviction in just 40ish minutes.
Once they entered the building, Oliver headed straight toward one of the rooms, with baggy eyes, and Alita had helped Emma to her own room. At this Emma had felt really exhausted, she could barely move a leg without using much power.
"How long will this last?" Emma asked.
"What are you talking about?" Alita answered, tucking Emma in her bed.
"Everything, the killing, the suffering, problems." Emma said, about to fall asleep.
"Never, probably. "
"Maybe, it would come back after hiding away for a bit, or it would just stay with you, and you would have to adapt to it." Alita told her.
Emma didn't really want to talk about these things anymore, feeling like it was a burden not meant to carry before sleep. Instead she asked about what she meant about the stars, and told her to tell the whole folktale.
"Sure, I might not remember the full thing just so you know.
There were a whole legion of heroes in the spirit world who fought against unimaginable powerful things, and they won.. Sometimes. They faced many adversaries varying from the strength of a great spirit, or beings who passed limits of strength, they had won against all of those things. Of course they had suffered major losses against these beings, not every win comes with zero loss. They killed all of them, in exchange they had gotten rid of most of the evils in the world."
"When they died it was said that the spirit mother refused to bury them since their suffering was too great for her, so instead she sended them to the blank sky. Filling the black sky with lights that shined through the night. "
"Spirit had separated their spirit from their suffering giving them peace in death. But because she did that she essentially made the Night. Making many experience the sufferings of the great heroes." Alita told her.
Emma had fallen asleep at this point with her mind being at peace, it was quite easy for her now.
When she woke up the next morning she got up and got ready for most of the day. She remembered what happened throughout yesterday, and thought to herself ' I wish I still was in that dream,"
She went downstairs, and unexpectedly saw the other remaining two of E squad Avid members discussing something.
"Oh Emma. Just in time, would you like to leave Avid?" Oliver told her. Making her surprised, but remembered what Avid did.
"Oliver, don't be this naive, you can't target an entire gang on your own. It would at least take another strong organization who is willing to help to pull it off." Alita responded.
