Riley dug her nails into her palms so hard it hurt.
She had to endure this... She'd been too impatient. The timing wasn't right yet. For now, she could only endure it.
Forcing a strained smile, Riley said, "Logan, I understand."
Then she turned to Selina, voice gentle. "Selina, I'm really sorry. I promise this won't happen again. I truly see you as a friend."
Selina raised an eyebrow. She hadn't expected Riley to be this good at swallowing her pride.
Having made his point, Logan took Selina's hand and led her out.
Once they were in the car and seated, he glanced at her. "Feeling better now?"
Selina choked slightly. "What do you mean? Just because I got to put your childhood sweetheart in her place, I'm supposed to be in a good mood? What do you think I am, petty?"
Logan didn't respond right away. He glanced at her, slow and meaningful. No words needed.
Selina's cheeks turned red under that look.
