Chapter 122 - Hello Old Friend...

Chase shook his head.

"Then what is it?"

She shrugged.

"Cryptis, duh!"

"What the hell is Cryptis?"

The two bantered back in forth, as Chase refused to believe that he was just as disabled as everyone had believed.

She shrugged.

"It's obviously the energy you use, so just try it!"

Neveah seemed to be quite excited about seeing him use such an alien form of energy, so eventually he decided to just give in.

He shut his eyes, and began to siphon the "Cryptis" into the ruin on his shoulder.

This time it was much much stranger.

As if the energy seemed to react differently when you actually observed it by what it truly was.

Then a spark flew off of Chase's shoulder, one that had actually burned straight through his uniform.

He squinted his eye, glancing at Neveah who had a big smirk plastered on her face.

"Come on, don't just stop!"

She exclaimed, excited to see the summon actually happen.

So Chase kept siphoning the energy, and the room around them started to grow warmer.

"Whoa!"

She said with awe, as something must have happened.

He could see a hue of green from behind his eyelids, as if the world was testing him to see if he would break his concentration.

He wasn't going to break.

He was the son of Blaze of House Phoenix, and he was going to summon this damned dog if it was the last thing he would ever do.

Then he started to truly feel it.

It was like static electricity was charging within his shoulder.

He shut his eyes even harder, pressing his eyelids together.

Tears were starting to build up behind his eyes.

Then full of a strange sense of anger and determination, he let out a quiet whisper.

Even though it was only a whisper, the words were filled with a euphoric sense of power, as if the very word had the might to rival even the name of Eternity...

"Kerberos..."

At first nothing happened, and he decided that he might as well open his eyes now.

So he did, and the first thing he seen was the flame he had set on the ground had grown about three meters tall, and was burning a bright green.

"Nothing happened..."

Neveah said, her voice full of disappointment.

And then as if hearing her sadness, the flame began to swirl around Chase magically.

Then all of the static feelings in his shoulder exploded outward, and a ball of wild neon flames was shot toward the other side of room.

A loud crash was heard, and then everything went silent.

Then the two glanced at each other, and stood up.

They backed away slowly, as a low growl echoed through the entire dungeon.

The stone below them was starting to melt from the sheer heat.

And then a pair of bright green eyes started to burn within the shadows in the distance.

"Strong..."

Neveah muttered, as he could hear the fear in her voice.

But all Chase could feel was joy, raw unbridled joy...

The feeling was so familiar, yet so strange at the same time.

In fact, he wanted to run toward the neon green eyes with his arms open, but was still unsure of what exactly he had just created.

Mainly, because of how different it seemed.

Then flames ignited from the shadows, and a four meter tall hell hound let out a joyous bark.

He had grown quite tall since the last time he had seen the canine.

Neveah was grabbing the back of Chase's shirt, and hiding from the big dog.

Then she yelped, as he sprinted toward the big drooling furball made of flames.

"What are you doing!?"

She yelled.

He didn't answer her, as Sparky galloped toward him, barking happily.

The two met with mutual tackles.

Chase jumped at the dog, and the dog pounced back.

He must have underestimated just how strong the dog had gotten since he had inhabited his soul.

He hit the ground with a loud crash, and Sparky's giant paws were pressing him into the ground, as the dog licked his face violently.

"Good to- see- you too- buddy!"

Chase managed, from beneath the monster's giant tongue.

"It's... A hell hound!"

Neveah gasped in amazement, as she was standing dumbfounded a few meters away.

Sparky turned his head, and then pounced on her.

Be it a lot weaker than he had done to him, probably because she was a lot smaller and most likely didn't have a durability based Axis affinity.

She shrieked, as Sparky began to bark happily on top of her.

Chase couldn't help but let out a truly happy laugh, as a single tear traced down his cheek.

The two had been united for the first time in so long...
