The day passed by swiftly, but for Chase it felt like an eternity.
He now had the name of Sparky's summon, but still had no clue on how to actually use said name.
During Alchemy class he had went to the bathroom and tried to summon the hellhound in one of the stalls, but of course it was no use.
So he had one last option.
As class was being dismissed for the day, Chase ran up to Neveah of House Evermore.
"Hey!"
He called out, gaining a bunch of odd looks from some of her friends she had been walking with.
"Ew, let's go girls... It's the Stray."
One of her friends with pink hair, said with a disgusted expression.
Chase ignored it, and Neveah waved them off and tilted her head at him.
"What's up?"
"I need a favor... Do you think that you could help me learn how too use summoning magic?"
Neveah scratched her eyebrow, and shrugged.
"Sure!"
She said with a big smile.
So the two walked for a while, and Neveah pointed out that they should do it in the courtyard since that was where a lot of natural energy already resided.
Chase shook his head.
"No, if it works it has too stay a secret..."
She raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, then where do you want me to teach you?"
Chase thought for a moment, while looking around.
"The dungeon..."
.
.
.
Well it turns out Neveah just so happens to be scared of the dark, and it was quite bad at that.
They were standing before the same room where Chase had been devoured by a mimic the previous night.
Neveah was hiding behind the large stone door, frantically shaking her head in refusal.
"Absolutely not!"
Chase shrugged, not sure as to why she was so terrified of the dark room.
So he used his energy, and lit a large flame on the palm of his hand.
He didn't notice what had changed until after a few moments.
His flame was actively lighting up nearly half of the vast dungeon.
It had gotten far brighter than it used to be.
"Whoa..."
He couldn't help but stare at the strangely vibrant flame, that had happened to evolve overnight.
"Come on!"
He called out, stepping into the dungeon with little traces of fear within his soul.
Eventually, he got the girl to come with him.
The two were sitting a few feet across from each other, both sitting in cross legged positions.
"I really don't like this..."
She muttered under her breath.
"It's not even that bad!"
Chase protested, as he threw a small fireball into the darker half of the room.
Of course, nothing but a singular rotting corpse of a mimic sat on the ground.
"And it smells horrible..."
She complained.
Chase just shrugged.
"Then let's just do this quick."
So she started to explain how energetic summons really worked.
It turned out that it was a lot simpler than Chase had originally thought it was.
All you had to do was siphon energy into the summon's rune, and use all of the built up energy in one push.
She gave him a demonstration, lifting up her sleeve to show the emerald rune on her elbow.
It began to glow a faint green color, and then she followed up with her bird's name.
She muttered the name Yefestus, and a small bird fluttered to life on her palm.
Patting the head of her bird gently, she glanced at Chase.
"Do you know the name of your summon?"
He nodded, and tugged on his uniforms collar, showing her Sparky's rune.
"Strange..."
She whispered, studying the rune with an unexplainable look on her face.
Eventually, she backed up and nodded at him- Letting him know it was time to try to summon his familiar.
He shut his eyes, and began to direct his natural energy toward the rune on his shoulder.
It felt quite painful at first, and he too clench his fists and bit his own tongue just so that he could ignore the pain.
It took him quite a long time for the energy to actually build up inside of the rune.
"You don't have an actual affinity do you...?"
She asked, breaking his concentration.
"Not that I know of..."
He frowned.
She raised an eyebrow.
"Then what are the flames?"
He shook his head.
"I don't know, but my affinity- whatever it is, has nothing to do with the fire I can make..."
She seemed to be lost in thought for a few moments, until she looked around the room and let out a sigh.
"Then don't try to use energy."
She said with a shrug, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Chase tilted his head in confusion.
"If everything in the world relies on energy... Then how I am I supposed to use an energetic summon if not with energy?"
She pointed at his Vox.
"Do you have any other traits, like Apex, or maybe Nexus?"
Chase thought for a moment.
"I have whatever Cryptis is..."
She looked as if she had never heard that name before, but eventually just shrugged.
"Try it."
He scratched the back of his head.
"I don't know how..."
Then she stood up, and moved far too close to him for his comfort.
Her shoulder was practically rubbing against his.
He was thankful for the dark room, as he avoided her eyes.
Then she put a hand on the ruin.
"Siphon the energy."
After collecting his thoughts, he did as she said.
He felt the particles move throughout his veins, and start to build up where the ruin was.
Then she backed away, and tilted her head.
"That's not Primis..."
"Huh?"
"That isn't Primis..."
Her gaze hardened on him, as if she was studying everything about his face and eventually came to a strange conclusion.
"You have no Primis inside of you..."
"That doesn't make any sense."
He protested, as if refusing to believe that what he had been using wasn't Primis.
"I can't sense any within you, and that's quite litterly what my affinity is based around..."
Chase sat with a dumbfounded expression for a moment, and then glanced down at the flame that was dancing around the floor in front of him.
