Chapter 120 - Whispers

Both him and Neo had decided too stop at their dorm rooms before heading to their classes.

Mainly so that they could change into their uniforms, and try to get the blood stains out of their skin.

They met back up a little after classes had started.

There wasn't really a need to say anything, as both had a lot on their minds.

In the span of a day or two- Chase had touched divinity, Easily defeated an eleven star opponent, and learned that he was a lost heir of an ancient clan.

So his mind was definitely still racing.

The two of them walked through the lively halls and eventually made it too their first class of the day.

Luke gave them a strange look as the two new best buddies quietly walked into class about ten minutes late.

Chase took his seat next to Equan, who leaned over and whispered in his ear as he was setting his bags down.

"How was that detention?"

Chase shrugged.

"Boring..."

He lied.

In fact, he had actually found the tortures of the previous day strangely fun.

He set his head down on the desk, and looked down at the runic band on his wrist.

The screen showed a single option on it.

'Calibrated...'

He tapped it, and it surged too life.

About twenty different metrics shifted onto the black screen, each with its own number and star next to it.

He grinned.

Chase had finally gained a way to track his progress.

He glanced at the Phoenix sigil on his wrist, and back down at the Vox.

As he read it, his grin turned to a frown.

His Axis was only at about a star and a half, while his primis was at a single star.

All of the other stats were around the same as the previous ones, which made his feel quite underwhelmed.

'You would think that after killing a Naga, defeating an Imperial, and all of the other things that I would at least be two stars...'

But of course, it wasn't that easy.

One of the lower lines read four different metrics, all with question marks where the stars and numbers should have been.

Primis Affinity: ???

Primis Passive Abilities: ???

Cryptis Affinity: ???

Star Potential: ???

'How the hell does it not know my potential...?'

He thought, frustration clouding his thoughts.

'And what is a Cryptis affinity?'

His mind flashed to the fragmented memories inside of the mimic's nightmare world, and how the green flames had seemed to nearly destroy his body.

'I wonder...'

Then something light, hit him quite hard in the forehead.

He looked up only to see Neo making a bunch of frantic gestures that Chase couldn't translate.

Then in an attempt to get him to look toward the door, Neo had been a little too late.

As Professor Luke was trying to lecture about House traditions, Poppy stormed into the classroom.

Ignoring Luke she stomped over to Chase's desk, and slammed her hands on the table in front of him.

"What did you do to me last night?!"

She yelled, drawing over everyone's attention.

Neo was practically hiding underneath his desk in the front of the room.

Chase's face must have been bright red, mainly because that wasn't something you just yelled in front of a class with no context.

Equan was laughing next to him, as well as the rest of the class who was whispering and snickering not even trying to be discrete.

Poppy must have realized what she had just said, and decided to turn around and walk to her desk with her head down.

Chase was left sitting there with a confused expression on his face.

Luke had quite a bewildered expression, as he had completely silenced from his boring lecture.

Then in front of them, Gideon turned around and spoke in a low voice.

"You guys hear about The Underbelly match last night?"

Chase was still wondering why on earth Poppy had accused him of whatever she was accusing him of, until it finally clicked.

'Eternity...'

He thought... She must have had fragmented memories as well, and had probably woken up in a strange place just as Neo and him had.

"Yeah, they are calling him The Grinning Devil..."

Equan mentioned with a big grin on his face.

Chase was swiftly brought out of his thoughts, and flinched at the mention of... well... him.

"I heard he ripped out Gregor's insides, and devoured them like some sort of demonic ritual..."

Then Chase put his head down on the desk, and was trying to hold back a laugh at the stupid comment from Equan.

"Nah, I heard that he has illusion abilities and was able to trick Gregor into giving up..."

Gideon exclaimed, an excited expression slipping onto his face.

Chase was too busy grinning like an idiot to listen in anymore to his friend's comparing the rumors they heard of this masked figure.

Then a quiet beep was heard from his Vox.

He sat up, and held it out in front of him with curiosity.

"Yo, when did you get a Vox... That looks like one of the older ones."

Gideon said, but Chase was far too lost in a sudden realization.

Below the potential statistic, a new category had formed...

It read...

Summons: One

Kerberos...
