Freya took Evan into the palace.

Then she turned to Evan and said:

"Give me your Pokémon, and I'll heal them."

After saying this, she pointed to the treatment machine beside her.

Every gym is equipped with such equipment—just to deal with situations like this. After all, you can't always run to the Pokémon Center when a Pokémon is injured, right? That would be such a waste of time. Therefore, gyms are typically equipped with treatment machines for gym leaders to use.

Evan didn't hesitate and handed her the Poké Balls directly, letting her handle the treatment.

After placing all the Poké Balls on the treatment device, she asked Evan to sit down and then poured him a cup of tea.

"Are you going on a journey?" she asked. "I thought you had really stopped being a trainer. That guy said before that you opened a breeding house. I even said I'd visit it when I had some free time, but here you are."

After pouring Evan a cup of tea, she continued speaking, a mix of curiosity and complaint in her tone.

Freya was the kind of person anyone could befriend. It was precisely this friendly personality that made her very popular back in school. She could get along with everyone. The relationship between Evan and Freya had always been good, though they had drifted apart after graduation due to their own busy lives. Still, now that they'd met again, it didn't feel awkward at all.

Listening to her comments, Evan explained, "I did open a breeding house. If you're interested, you should visit. That guy didn't lie to you. But, having said that, how did you end up as the leader of this gym?"

Evan was puzzled—how did the gym leadership become hers?

Freya smiled for the first time. "This is my grandma's gym," she explained. "She's been ill recently, so I came to take over. Here, this is your Badge."

After her explanation, she handed Evan the Badge. If her grandmother hadn't been unwell, Freya wouldn't have taken this responsibility.

Upon hearing this, Evan nodded, understanding the situation. He took the Badge and put it away carefully.

The two chatted for a while, enjoying their tea, and soon Pidgeot was fully healed. Evan retrieved his Poké Balls and stood up to leave.

Before heading out, Evan said, "Next time, you should visit my breeding house. It's near the Hope Orphanage in Lake City—you know where that is. I've taken over the place now. I came out this time to capture some Pokémon. I'll pick up a few supplies and then head to Forest Glade. So, I'll take my leave now, monitor."

Freya smiled and nodded. "Good."

"Then I won't keep you any longer," Freya said. "I'll be busy next time, but when my uncle comes back, I'll come to your place to find you."

Evan nodded.

With that, Evan released a Dragonite in front of her. Freya's eyes widened in shock.

"Wait a minute!" she exclaimed. "You weren't using your full strength just now?!"

Her disbelief was palpable. She had thought Evan was going all out during their earlier battle, yet now, he casually brought out a Dragonite.

Evan smiled confidently at her reaction. "Isn't that obvious? Do you really think I need to use my full strength in a gym battle? That would be overkill. I'd be wasting energy." He added with a grin, "If my Pokémon went all out, even I'd be scared."

Dragonite, standing beside Evan, looked down at him. While Evan appeared nonchalant, Dragonite had its own thoughts: It might be your Psychic abilities going berserk which terrifies me.

Dragonite had only been with Evan for a short while but had already learned a lot about him—especially from Gallade. From what Gallade had told him, Evan's Psychic powers were immensely strong, bordering on mythical. Dragonite could sense this power and often found it overwhelming.

Freya remained confused, her mind spinning with questions. Evan didn't elaborate. Instead, he patted Dragonite, signaling it to prepare for takeoff.

"See you next time, monitor," he said, waving as Dragonite spread its wings. "We're off."

As Evan and Dragonite ascended into the sky, Freya watched his retreating figure, lost in thought.

Her classmate, the one who had graduated not long ago, seemed to have become incredibly powerful. How long before he becomes an Elite? she wondered, a mix of awe and frustration.

"Horrifying!" she muttered to herself. Urgent: My classmate is on track to become an Elite, and I'm still a busy gym leader. What should I do?

Freya shook her head, feeling a bit overwhelmed. Evan might not realize how far ahead he seemed, but she was keenly aware of the gap between them. Even so, she smiled to herself. After all, he was still her old classmate—and her monitor.

Evan, on the other hand, had no idea what Freya was thinking. Nor did he have any particular feelings for her beyond friendship. As far as he was concerned, she wasn't the type of person who piqued his deeper interest.

But if she had been... well, who knows what might've happened?

After receiving the Badge, Evan immediately had Dragonite take him back to the city.

Once there, Evan began shopping for supplies. Tents, camping equipment—he didn't own any of these essentials. If he planned to camp in the forest, he would need to gear up properly. Sleeping on the bare ground, especially in a place teeming with wild Pokémon, many of which might be Ghost-types, was far from ideal.

He also picked up protective gear and a set of cookware. Since he had ventured out now, it was inevitable that he would embark on more journeys in the future. Buying these things now would certainly come in handy later.

After getting all the necessary equipment, Evan bought some ingredients for cooking. Once prepared, he released Dragonite under the amazed gazes of passersby. With everything ready, he mounted Dragonite, and they soared into the sky, heading toward the forest.

After flying for a while, Gardevoir reappeared, teleporting directly into Evan's arms. It pointed in a specific direction and said, "Go that way."

Evan nodded. "Dragonite, over there," he instructed.

Dragonite immediately adjusted its course, flying toward the direction Gardevoir indicated.

"How long will it take to get there?" Evan asked. Then another question popped into his mind. "By the way, what is the Pokémon Gallade was talking about?"

Gardevoir didn't reply verbally. Instead, Gallade's Psychic link activated, and its voice resonated in Evan's mind.

"It'll take about half an hour of flying to reach the destination. It's a bit far, deep in the forest. As for the Pokémon..." Gallade paused briefly before continuing. "It's that coward, Marshadow."

Evan was instantly puzzled. "What?" he said in disbelief. "Marshadow? Are you serious?"

His mind raced as he tried to process this information. Marshadow? That's a mythical Pokémon. The thought left Evan both confused and skeptical.

"Are you sure about this? Marshadow? You're not pulling my leg, are you?" he asked, his voice tinged with doubt.

Gallade's Psychic tone remained calm. "It's true."

Evan shook his head in astonishment. A mythical Pokémon like Marshadow? Are we really going to face one? He found it hard to believe. Legendary and Mythical Pokémon weren't just difficult to encounter; earning their trust was another monumental challenge.

"Mythical Pokémon are nearly impossible to catch without their acknowledgment," Evan muttered to himself. "Is it really that simple to conquer one?"

He couldn't help but question the entire situation. After all, when it came to Mythical Pokémon, even meeting one was a rare feat, let alone gaining its trust.
