Gallade's firm voice reached Evan's ears.
"Yes, it's Marshadow."
"Don't worry, I'll convince him."
"It's very timid and greedy. We can definitely tric...subdue it."
Gallade realized he had misspoken and quickly corrected himself.
Evan, hearing this, was speechless.
What is cheating?
What do you mean by that?
Am I that kind of person?
But considering Marshadow's character, it seems possible to deceive him.
Fine, I'll give it a try.
Conquer him with delicious food.
If that doesn't work, it's okay to fight.
However, if it can't be done, I won't force it.
After all, battling a mythical Pokémon is troublesome.
Marshadow should be incredibly strong.
According to Dragonite, a battle between us might destroy the forest.
If that happens, there might be an environmental alert, and someone might block the exits.
If that happens, Zygarde will emerge and blast you with its devastating Core Enforcer, leaving you miserable.
Books say Zygarde oversees the world's environment and ecology.
If you destroy a forest or cause large-scale fires, you'll draw its attention.
Some people have even tried summoning it before by setting fires in the world's largest Forest, hoping to capture it.
They succeeded in luring it out.
That day, the sky was filled with green light.
It was like missiles launching across the globe.
Through satellites, everyone saw a terrifying sight.
An entire continent was swept away by Zygarde's laser.
It even split the sea in two, exposing thousands of miles of the seabed.
When Zygarde appears, it's relentless. Those responsible faced its wrath on the spot.
The story goes that even when the battle was over, Zygarde was so enraged it intended to hunt down the culprits.
Fortunately, other legendary Pokémon intervened, averting a greater disaster.
This isn't just a guardian of one region but a protector of the entire planet. Its power is unimaginable.
Don't doubt its surveillance. If it targets you, there's no escape.
Zygarde will find you, no matter where you run, and destroy you.
Afterward, it will restore the damage using its powers.
It's truly frightening.
Even seasoned trainers avoid going too far in forest battles.
If they cause harm, they work to restore it quickly, or they call for help and pay rangers to handle it.
Because if Zygarde locks onto you, you're done unless you can leave the planet.
But leaving the planet isn't easy.
In the skies, Rayquaza watches, and if you dare to escape, it'll hit you with a Hyper Beam, saving Zygarde the trouble.
Evan pondered these thoughts, both realistic and far-fetched.
Then, Evan learned more about Marshadow from Gardevoir and Gallade.
Marshadow resides in the forest, seemingly within the ruins of an ancient structure.
As for what lies within those ruins, even Gardevoir and Gallade didn't know.
They had only encountered Marshadow outside and had never ventured into its lair. However, they were sure it lived there.
If someone goes looking, Marshadow will usually respond.
This is largely because Marshadow is timid and prefers to stay hidden in the shadows, scavenging for food.
It's known to sneak around and even take food from Pokémon such as Beedrill.
Marshadow's survival often depends on stealing food or scavenging berries and other edibles.
This gave Evan an idea.
Marshadow was notorious for being gluttonous, enjoying all kinds of delicacies.
It wasn't picky—it loved anything that tasted good, including energy blocks and more.
With Evan's cooking skills, luring Marshadow out seemed like a high possibility.
After hearing Gardevoir's explanation, Evan nodded in understanding.
"I get it," he said. "Then we'll camp right in front of its house."
"Is there a water source nearby?" he added. "If so, camping by a lake would be ideal."
"With a delicious meal ready, I'm sure it'll show up. I've already bought plenty of ingredients."
Evan smirked confidently. Greedy? That's easy to handle.
He planned to cook something irresistible right outside Marshadow's lair.
He was sure Marshadow wouldn't be able to resist, especially with Gardevoir and Gallade there to make it feel safe.
Upon hearing Evan's plan, Gardevoir's eyes lit up.
"There is a lake!" Gardevoir exclaimed.
"Marshadow lives near the lake, and beneath it lies the ruins, but we've never gone down there."
"It's the perfect spot for camping," Gardevoir added, nodding eagerly.
Yes, this was the ideal plan. Marshadow's greed would draw it out.
Evan couldn't help but chuckle. He had a series of ideas already forming in his mind.
If he could use Psychic communication, he'd have no trouble connecting with the timid Pokémon.
Convincing Marshadow, whose mind was comparable to that of a young child, would be easy with the right approach.
A sly smile crept onto Evan's face as he finalized his plan.
"Marshadow, here I come," Evan declared with determination.
Dragonite soon brought Evan to a massive, serene lake. This was the destination he had in mind. The area was tranquil, with no sign of human activity, yet it was bustling with Pokémon.
Evan noticed Frillish floating gracefully on the lake's surface. It seemed that even Water/Ghost Pokémon thrived in this forest. In addition, Ghost-type Pokémon like Sableye and Duskull wandered the area, adding to the eerie charm of the place.
The presence of Phantump further reinforced the idea that this was a haven for Ghost Pokémon, though many of them appeared weak.
"Maybe it's because of Marshadow," Evan mused. The aura Marshadow unintentionally exuded might have scared off stronger Pokémon.
Upon arrival, Evan could sense the potent Ghost energy permeating the air. It was clear that a powerful presence had been here, but Marshadow itself was nowhere to be found.
Evan scanned the surroundings and, finding nothing unusual, instructed Dragonite to land by the lakeside. Without wasting time, he began setting up camp.
Gardevoir and Gallade pitched in, helping Evan set up the tents, while his other Pokémon were released to enjoy themselves. Excited by the opportunity to roam freely, they began playing around the lake, making the most of their rare outdoor adventure.
Evan didn't mind their frolicking and allowed them to have fun, focusing instead on preparing the campsite.
Gallade wasn't in a rush to search for Marshadow either. His plan was simple: the scent of Evan's cooking skills would inevitably lure the elusive Pokémon out of hiding. Once it appeared, Gallade would pinpoint its location with ease.
Though Marshadow was known for its exceptional stealth, Gallade's familiarity with it made the task much easier. Confident in their plan, the group worked harmoniously, knowing it was only a matter of time before Marshadow revealed itself.
