James sat quietly in the hospital bed, the faint beeping of machines and the soft breathing of his Pokémon the only sounds in the room. Charmander slept peacefully in the basket beside him, its little flame tail flickering with life, while the newly caught Eevee was curled beside him on the bed, its soft fur rising and falling with every breath.
Just when he started to let himself relax, a familiar ding echoed in his mind.
'The system…?'
A translucent blue screen flickered to life before his eyes.

'All main functions?' James's eyes widened.
The screen shimmered, expanding into a six-tabbed panel.

James gulped, his heart beating fast in excitement. This felt like something out of a video game—and it was all real.

James tapped the first tab. A small window opened:

His eyes lit up.
'Unlimited storage?! I can just store anything like in the games?! This is amazing!'
He quickly exited the tab, eager to see what else awaited.

James nearly fell out of bed.
'A healing, living world where my Pokémon can talk to me… This is totally busted!'
His excitement swelled. He had no idea a "system" could do this much.

James whistled softly.
'That's… insanely useful. I can actually see how strong a Pokémon might become… but even if they're weak and have the 'stone' potential, I'll never abandon them. They're my family now.'

[Map: Displays the world, locations, and people or Pokémon. Locations can be searched, pinned, and tracked. No one can hide from the Justice System.]
James saw a blinking light on a green patch labeled: Bamboo Town.
'So I'm about 14 kilometers from Saffron City… Wow.'
The idea that he could track anyone—even those who might hide in shadows—gave him a strange sense of power. 'This is seriously high-tier tech…'

James let out a breath and smiled.
"Man… this is actually happening," he whispered aloud, a bit overwhelmed.
The system panel quietly faded away, leaving only the faint glow of moonlight coming from the hospital window.
James turned toward the small sleeping Charmander. He focused, calling out mentally:
'Appraisal.'
His eyes glowed faintly blue as a floating panel appeared above Charmander.

James's eyes sparkled.
'Gold…! That's just one level below Diamond!'
He glanced to the curled-up Eevee and repeated the action.

'Silver's great too!' he smiled gently.
He reached out and softly petted both his Pokémon, his heart swelling with warmth.
'I don't care what the system says about potential—I'll raise you both with all I've got.'
As the two Pokémon slept peacefully beside him, and the Justice System lay dormant for the night, James felt something he hadn't felt in years.
