Chapter 7 - Chen Mo Begins His Talent Poaching Plan

"...You're just bragging! I'm your roommate—don't I know exactly what you're capable of?"

However, before Zhang Dawei could even finish his sentence, his eyes widened in shock as he stared at Chen Mo's computer screen.

On the screen, a needle appeared and seemed to inject the skull virus, which instantly disappeared. Following that, the words "Black Domain" and its logo appeared, then slowly faded away.

The original desktop returned, with all the software and data intact.

"Holy crap!"

"Holy crap!"

"What the hell just happened?"

Zhang Dawei couldn't help but shout. His loud reaction immediately drew the attention of nearby classmates.

Even Professor Tian Tian, who was doing everything in her power at the podium to try and crack the skull virus alongside several IT security personnel, was startled.

Especially Tian Tian.

She had just thought of a promising antivirus approach, only to have her train of thought completely derailed by Zhang Dawei's outburst.

She frowned.

"Zhang Dawei, what's with the yelling? You'd better give me a good explanation, or your participation grade for computer lab is gone."

But Zhang Dawei seemed not to hear her at all, his eyes fixed on Chen Mo as if he'd seen a ghost.

After a moment of accepting this insane reality—

He was stunned.

Since when was my roommate this awesome?!

Suddenly feeling a chill, he turned to see the entire class staring at him like murderers, including Professor Tian Tian glaring daggers at him… Ahem. He scratched his head awkwardly.

"Professor."

"It wasn't me being dramatic. It's Chen Mo… Chen Mo… He already removed the skull virus!"

What?

"Say what?"

"No way, right? All those computer science professors and cybersecurity experts were helpless, and now you're telling me a student solved it? That's impossible!"

"What? So just because he's a top student, he gets special virus-busting powers?"

"No, I'm not buying it."

"I hope it's true. If Chen Mo really did fix it, then my 60 gigs of 'Cang Teacher' videos are saved!"

Gasps filled the room—most people couldn't believe it.

And understandably so.

All the experts had failed to solve the virus problem. Now a student claimed to have fixed it? The natural reaction was disbelief.

Professor Tian Tian was also stunned. Then she quickly stepped down from the podium.

Her high heels clicked rapidly on the floor—showing just how urgent this was.

The president of Qingmu University and officials from the Hai City Security Bureau had already called. They had stressed the need to do whatever it took to destroy the skull virus before it spread across the country. All internet-related projects were halted. The top priority was to develop an effective removal tool.

Tian Tian had just received those orders.

She was about to attend a high-level meeting with veteran researchers.

And now…

She'd just heard that one of her own students might have solved the problem. It was hard to believe, but she knew her students weren't likely to lie about something like this.

Tian Tian walked straight up to Chen Mo and glanced at his screen. Her breathing grew quick. The skull icon was gone, replaced by a perfectly normal desktop. She knew what this meant.

"You… You… Chen Mo, did you really fix the virus? How did you do it?"

"I just… did it!" Chen Mo smiled, glancing at the adorably fierce Professor Tian Tian. His heart raced. She truly was a top-tier goddess—her presence alone could shake a man's soul.

"..." Tian Tian fell silent. Very funny.

"Did you create a dedicated removal tool? Or was it just a lucky coincidence?"

"Of course I developed a removal tool."

Hiss…

Tian Tian gasped. If Chen Mo had really developed a dedicated removal tool, its value and potential implications were immense. He could even make a fortune overnight.

She couldn't help but ask:

"Can you test it on my computer?"

"Of course." Chen Mo nodded slightly, walked over, and plugged a data cable into her machine.

Seconds later, the same animation played: a needle injected the skull virus, which vanished. Then the Black Domain logo appeared and faded. Her desktop returned to normal.

TAP TAP…

Tian Tian quickly stepped forward and nudged Chen Mo aside to examine her computer. After a thorough check, she confirmed the system had fully recovered, all data was intact, and the virus was completely gone.

It was a perfect removal tool.

It was ready for market release.

Tian Tian took a deep breath, suppressing her excitement. She turned to Chen Mo and said calmly, "Chen Mo, this is a serious matter. Come with me to the office."

"Okay," Chen Mo nodded.

To bring this gorgeous professor over to work for Black Domain, he needed to build a connection first. Then he could gradually reveal his extraordinary capabilities and the value of his company.

But to his surprise, Tian Tian didn't take him to her office—instead, she led him to her private research lab.

She sat down gracefully on a sleek sofa and casually propped her long, black-stockinged legs on the table—strikingly eye-catching.

Although she said nothing, Chen Mo could see that once she had confirmed the tool worked, her earlier tension had completely disappeared.

"You really developed the needle removal tool?" she asked calmly, though clearly impressed.

"Yep. Professor, the skull virus was actually quite simple to neutralize. You all just didn't think of the right approach. The virus had fused with the system, making normal antivirus software ineffective. So I used a 'fight fire with fire' method—created a virus to break through the skull virus's defenses, then launched the cleanup process."

Chen Mo explained the basic principle with confidence.

"Using a virus to fight a virus?"

Tian Tian paused. What a genius.

In theory, it could work. But in practice, it was far harder. Where would you find a virus specifically designed to counteract the skull virus? By the time you found one, specialized removal tools would already be developed.

Did Chen Mo just get lucky?

Or… was it something else?

"Yes. And it works well." Chen Mo smiled.

"Well, regardless of how you did it, as long as it works. Right now, over 90% of Hai City's computers are infected. How do you plan to release this tool? Sell it directly? Or…" Tian Tian trailed off. She couldn't bring herself to ask him to give it away for free.
