The man, whose name she'd already forgotten, was everything her parents hoped for: successful, ambitious, and clearly interested in her. But Yomi felt nothing but boredom. He was talking about his five-year plan, his investment strategies, and his desire to climb the corporate ladder.
"So, Lee Yomi-ssi," he finally said, breaking his monologue, "what are your ambitions?"
Yomi stared at him blankly. What were her ambitions? To find a job she loved? To create art that resonated with people? To travel the world? None of these seemed appropriate answers for this perfectly sculpted man.
"I…I'm still figuring things out," she stammered, avoiding his gaze.
He chuckled condescendingly. "Well, you certainly have plenty of time. But you should think about your future. You can't just drift through life."
That was the last straw. Yomi stood up, gathering her purse. "Thank you for the coffee," she said, her voice surprisingly steady. "But I don't think we're a good match. I'm…not interested in a five-year plan right now."
He was momentarily speechless. Rejection wasn't something he was used to. He spluttered, trying to argue, but Yomi simply offered a polite bow and walked away.
