Ting ting ting ting.
The knocks that followed after she had closed the door were not only insistent, but much louder now. It took her a deep breath and a sigh before she opened the door again. This time, everyone had their hands off of their weapons and had their heads hanging in a bow. Though the old man spoke quickly, she couldn't understand a word they had said.
Looking them up and down, she noticed that everyone wore the same kind of robes. Though, while the old man had a full flower etched onto his robes, the others had only four or five petals sewn in. Her eyes then landed on the wolf like woman and the human girl resting in her arms.
She couldn't deny that everyone here was good looking, even the old man. But the sleeping girl was absolutely beautiful with her pale flesh that occasionally dripped in sweat, her paled lips, the red pool leaking down her-
"Holy shit she's dying! Quickly, get her on the table!" She shouted in realization, gesturing everyone to get in quickly.
After everyone was in, she pointed to the table and closed the metal door. As soon as the wolf woman laid the girl down, she quickly pushed her aside to kneel down beside the patient. While the others were saying something in their own language, she held her hands over the girl and closed her eyes to examine the wound.
If anything, this patient was quite lucky. The wound was made by a smooth blade that stabbed straight through, narrowly missing her heart. The other injuries were superficial, save for the deep gash in her leg made by some sort of inflamed blade.
Though she wanted to ask if she could treat the patient, she had no idea how to communicate with the people talking quickly around her. Instead, she looked up at the old man who seemed to be the leader of the group and tilted her head a bit. It wasn't until she gestured to the patient that the man closed his eyes and nodded, sending the others into a flurry of rageful shouting.
Annoyed not only at their tantrum, but also how she couldn't understand them, she reached up and snapped her fingers. The force sent her Mana to fill the room, silencing all those around her so she could focus on the patient.
How long had it been since she had used her Mana like this? Luckily, a simple spell was all that was needed for a wound like this. Gathering her Mana in her arms, she pressed her left hand on the girls core while her right rested on her forehead.
She steeped her Mana slowly into the girl, checking for any other internal bleeding while also tracking her constitution. Luckily, this girl seemed to have a build of a fighter, so her Vitality shouldn't be a problem. The issue was the lack of blood, but that problem can be fixed with those around her.
"Now then, let's start with the big one and work our way out." She said out loud, sending her Mana to work.
After several minutes of reconstructing the woman's flesh, she let out a sigh of relief. The worst was over. Now she had to figure out the blood problem. Raising her right hand, she snapped her fingers once more to allow the rest to speak up.
The first to speak was the old man, who pressed his fist into his palm and bowed his head towards her. The rest quickly followed in suit, repeating what the man had said in genuine grace. She took the time to mimic the sound waves their voices made with her Mana to try and translate what they were saying.
"Hmm, the language seems simple enough. Pretty close to the Asian languages of my world, but pretty strange, like all of then wrapped together with a tiny bow." She folded her arms as she spoke.
"My apologies, it seems we've been quite rude." The old man suddenly spoke up once more, making her jump a bit.
"Woah, I can understand you now. Wow, was this spell really that simple?" She asked herself as she looked down at her hands.
"Spell? Oh, you must mean this artifact. It allows us to communicate no matter the language." The old man said as he pulled out his necklace, showing her a small tablet with a character written on it.
"Huh, an artifact. Isn't that something. May I?" She asked as she slowly stood up before holding her hand out.
"Oh, of course." The man chuckled softly as he took the necklace off and handed it to her.
As it landed in her palm, she pumped her Mana to decipher the mechanics behind it. Strangely enough, though her Mana could flow through it, she couldn't find out how it worked.
"Does this require a battery? I can't seem to get my Mana to work on it." She muttered to herself as she held the necklace up to see it better.
"Savior, if I may ask, what is Mana?" The man asked with a cocked brow.
The question made her heart drop. Turning her head quickly, she eyed everyone up and down before looking down at the patient. It seems she had missed one crucial detail when accepting these people into their home. No matter how much she searched, she couldn't feel any Mana coming from them.
"How, how have you all survived out here without Mana?" She asked as she took a cautious step back.
"Wait Savior, please, allow me to explain!" The old man suddenly spoke up as he saw her step back. "Please, trust me when I say we truly mean you no harm."
"Just answer the question. How are you all in space without Mana?" She glared at the man while tucking her hand behind her back to grab her pistol.
It seemed the others had sensed the danger she exuded. Without warning, the old man suddenly drew up a well of energy that clashed with her Mana. Not only did it drive her curiosity to its extremes, but it seemed to have prevented the others from drawing their weapons.
"Savior, allow this Old Master to explain. This force you feel is called Divine Qi. It is the life force of us Martial Artists and is something we are all born with. I feel it is similar to this 'Mana' that you seem to wield." Old Maste spoke in a softer tone to try and sooth her worries.
After testing the Qi with her Mana, she slowly nodded and put her pistol back into the Corridor. Sighing softly, she handed the necklace back and rubbed the back of her head with a wry chuckle.
"Sorry, it's been so long since I've seen anything living out here that wasn't trying to kill me." She apologized as she put her right fist over her heart. "Name's...fuck what was it?"
She suddenly turned away while folding her arms. How long had it been since she even thought of her name? Hundreds of years? She couldn't even remember if she had a name. Looking down at her shoulder, she saw the same number she had seen since this armor was put on her. Seeing it was better than nothing, she turned back to the group and smiled under her helmet.
"Just call me Seven Three, or just Seven is fine. Sorry about earlier, it's been a while since I've seen friendly faces." She said as she turned back to offer her hand.
The old man smiled as accepted the shake. "My name is Elder Lu Yin of the White Lilly Sect on Rainfall Star. These are some of my disciples. Starting from the left we have Fifth Disciple Muten of the Ku'Tel race."
"Thank you for saving our Senior, Master Seven" The lizard man bowed as he wad called. His scales were a deep emerald with some long whiskers making up a sort of mustache on his upper lip, trailing down to his collarbone.
"Next we have Fourth Disciple Lao Ying of the Shinta race."
"Thank you for saving Senior!" The wolf woman bowed as well with happy tears in her eyes. Unlike the Ku'Tel, this girl closely resembled a human. Though, unlike the piercing yellow eyes he had, this girl had purple eyes and tanned flesh that was surrounded by a grayish fur with two wolf ears planted ontop of her head. What drew Seven more was that fluffy tail that wagged happily behind her. Oh how she wished she could feel through her armor, what she wouldn't give to pet Ying's tail.
"This is Fourth Desciple Lu Bao, my grandson."
"Thank you for saving my sister, Savior." Lu Bao said as he bowed his head. His blue eyes were filled with happy tears as well, making his face a red that heavily contrasted with the deep red hair he wore on his head. Seven could sense the deep love he held for his sister, making her all the more happy that she saved the poor girls life.
"And the one on the table is Sixth Disciple Lu Xiao, my granddaughter."
Seven looked down at the sleeping girl and gave a warm smile. It was nice to feel the love everyone had for this girl, making the effort feel all the more worth it. The girls hair was also a deep red, making her wonder if this child had emerald eyes like those from her home world. A dangerous thought crossed her mind at that moment, making her shake her head and look at the Elder.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all. Go ahead and have a seat, I'll grab you all some water then see to your wounds." She said before wandering to the makeshift kitchen she had made.
