Jeros continued his explanation: "All Kin must adhere to the principle of 'ignorance is bliss.' Generally speaking, their threat to the ordinary populace isn't excessively large. However, they can instigate humans to perform evil rituals and criminal acts."
Silas nodded firmly. "Understood."
"Monsters are relatively simpler compared to Kin. Most of these are creatures from our own world that have undergone drastic mutations due to certain issues or bloodline problems. More straightforward examples of Monsters include Phantoms, Werewolves, the Undead, and Demonesses. Some of them can be seen normally, but most still require a sufficiently high Spirit Vision. For example, Phantoms are Sequence Two Monsters, while Demons are Sequence Five Monsters."
"Demonesses, huh…" Silas really wanted to ask Jeros about Demonesses, but after thinking about it, he decided against it.
He had no connection with Demonesses; rashly inquiring would only arouse unwanted suspicion.
"You seem to have thought of something again." Jeros's perceptiveness made Silas feel a sense of dread.
Silas accessed Silas Sotos's memories regarding Demonesses and said in a low voice, "I once witnessed the execution of Demonesses. I felt they had absolutely no connection to terrifying monsters."
Jeros said impassively, "One cannot judge things by their surface appearance. To people, Demonesses are latent bombs. Eliminating threats in their nascent stages is one of the Church's primary missions."
Silas nodded. "Please continue."
"Finally, there are Beasts. Beasts are easier to understand. They have little to do with Spirit Vision. Most are descendants of certain ancient creatures, or are ancient creatures themselves. This includes Giants, Dragons, Drakes, Griffins, Two-Headed Gnus, and so on. However, most of these creatures are already extinct or live in seclusion and rarely appear."
After hearing all this, Silas gained a deeper understanding of the overall framework of this world.
"That's all for today. You're probably tired. You can go home and rest early," Jeros said, not as strict as his expression suggested.
Silas nodded, preparing to take his leave.
"Oh, by the way, if you have time, you can look at some of the Church's classics and scriptures. They will be very helpful for you in delivering souls," Jeros added.
"Thank you!" Silas said, then bid farewell and left the police station.
Returning home, Silas took off his clothes and lay on the bed, watching the ceiling spin slightly. The Husky lay beside the bed, looking at its master with a hint of concern.
"It's nothing. I'll be fine after some rest," Silas said softly, rubbing his forehead.
"This feeling of overusing Spiritual Energy is absolutely terrible."
For the rest of the time, Silas was too tired to even think, simply letting his mind go blank and resting peacefully.
At dusk, when Ada returned, she saw Silas walking out of the bedroom, his face pale.
"My goodness, what happened to you, Silas?" Without even putting down her schoolbag, Ada rushed over to ask.
Silas waved his hand. "It's nothing. I went to a crime scene today and felt a bit overwhelmed."
Ada asked tentatively, "The one at Hawthorn Alley Park?"
"You know about it?" Silas was taken aback.
Ada nodded. "Eliza passed by there. She heard the person died very gruesomely."
"Yes, very gruesomely. I even observed and touched the body up close, which is why I'm like this now," Silas said with a sigh.
Ada helped Silas sit down, didn't ask about the outcome, put down her bag, changed her clothes, and said, "Then you should rest. I'll go prepare dinner."
"What a kind and beautiful lady!" Silas said approvingly.
Ada smiled faintly. "You should save such compliments for other ladies! You're already twenty-four today. Although your current financial situation doesn't allow for it, you can start looking. After all, once you're confirmed in your position, you'll have barely stepped onto the threshold of the middle class."
"Ahem, you don't need to worry about that. I have my own plans," Silas quickly brushed it off.
He had no time to look for a partner right now; a mountain of things needed his attention.
Ada smiled, tied on her apron, and went into the kitchen.
In the evening, after their usual chat about each other's day, they retired to their respective rooms.
"Oh, by the way, I ran into Evan today. He was very happy to hear you're back safely. He said he and his sister will come over in a few days," Ada suddenly said.
Silas felt a warmth in his heart upon hearing this. "Okay."
Evan was his childhood best friend and also an alumnus of the same university.
In his dream, he once again sat on the throne, overlooking the empty temple.
"What exactly are these statues for?" Silas looked down at the imposing, handsome statues, his expression puzzled.
Holding his spear, he walked down from the throne. Suddenly, he felt as if something new had appeared on the ship.
Sensing it faintly, his eyes shot forward. Through the main entrance of the temple, he saw a figure entirely made of gold.
This figure was currently prostrated on the ground, motionless, seemingly kowtowing to Silas.
"Why does this person look somewhat familiar?" Silas walked over.
"Great Lord of Death and Storms, One True God of the Shadowed Vale and the Abyss, Ruler of Dreams, Master of Death, Sovereign of the Mists, my lost soul, guided by the Priest, has come here, praying for peace and serenity in Your divine kingdom." As soon as they met, the soul recited a string of titles.
Hearing this, Silas was stunned. His mouth was just about to blurt out Chuck's name when he quickly controlled himself and said with utmost calmness, "Chuck Littos, regardless of your life before, you have now obtained a new form. The words of my Priest are my truth. This Icy Warship shall be your eternal haven. Here, you can slumber peacefully and attain eternal serenity, or you can wander amidst the storms and explore other realms."
Chuck then said in a low voice, "Great Lord, your servant was deeply sinful in life. Only upon death did I realize how pitiful and depraved my life was. For this, I should have fallen into hell, enduring the torment of eternal fire for ages. Yet, You still opened Your arms to your servant, allowing me to attain redemption and release. Your mercy, Your greatness, Your boundless love fill your servant with incomparable worship."
"But precisely because of this, your fallen and humble servant is not worthy to slumber peacefully in Your great embrace. Please bestow upon your humble servant armor and weapons, allow your servant to become Your warrior, so that I may repay the great Lord for my redemption and grace. Only then will my soul attain true peace and serenity."
Hearing this, Silas, beneath his mask, pondered for a second, then said loudly, "Very well! My subject, your self-reflection, your loyalty, your honesty have earned you the qualification to become a warrior!"
"Thank you! Thank you!" Chuck prostrated himself completely on the ground, his voice filled with gratitude and joy.
