Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Dangerous Attention

Yuuto's first day at Julien Group started smoothly—on the surface, at least.

Julien had assigned him to assist in the Events Planning Department, which buzzed with energy and creativity. Yuuto was introduced to the team, given a sleek tablet, and put to work organizing venue details, guest lists, and sponsorships for an upcoming high-profile gala.

But wherever he went, he felt Julien's gaze.

Sometimes from the glass wall of Julien's office.

Sometimes when passing by in the hallway.

Sometimes too close.

During lunch, Julien casually sat beside him in the company cafeteria, ignoring curious stares from employees.

"You're adjusting well," Julien said, sipping his wine like they were in a fine restaurant. "But I'm not convinced this is the life you want."

Yuuto blinked. "What do you mean?"

"I mean… you're too delicate for deadlines and paperwork. You're more suited to… silk sheets, starlit balconies, candlelit wine."

Yuuto nearly choked on his juice. "I'm here to work."

Julien leaned in. "And I'm here to watch you bloom."

The heat in Yuuto's cheeks spread to his ears. "Mr. Julien, please."

"Julien," he corrected smoothly. "Say it."

Yuuto looked away. "Julien."

"Perfect." His voice lowered. "I like the way you say my name."

That evening, Aiden arrived home earlier than usual.

Yuuto greeted him in the living room, still in his office attire. Aiden's eyes trailed over the neat collar and blazer that didn't belong to his company. Something about it made his chest tighten.

"How was your first day?" Aiden asked, trying to sound casual.

Yuuto smiled. "Busy, but… I think I did okay. Julien was very welcoming."

Aiden's jaw clenched. "Was he?"

Yuuto nodded. "He took care of me."

Aiden walked past him and poured himself a glass of scotch. "He has a reputation for 'taking care' of people."

Yuuto tilted his head. "Are you… upset?"

"I'm just wondering," Aiden said slowly, "if I made a mistake sending you there."

Yuuto stepped closer, voice soft. "You didn't. I'm learning. I'm growing. Isn't that what you wanted?"

Aiden turned to face him, the cool CEO mask slipping. "What I want is to keep you safe."

Yuuto's breath caught. Aiden rarely sounded so vulnerable.

"I'm not yours to protect forever," Yuuto whispered.

Aiden didn't respond—just stared into his eyes like he was trying to memorize them.

---

Later that night, as Yuuto lay in bed, he couldn't sleep. Thoughts of Aiden's eyes… and Julien's voice… tugged at his heart from opposite sides.

And in the darkness, he wondered:

Was this the start of something thrilling—or something dangerous?
