As the days turned into weeks, Margaret's behavior towards Emily became increasingly demanding. She would assign Emily tasks, from cooking meals to cleaning the house, without even asking her father. Emily felt like she was being treated like a servant, with no regard for her feelings or well-being.
Despite her frustration, Emily tried to keep up with the workload, hoping to win back her father's love and approval. She would often go out of her way to help with Lily, thinking that if she showed her father she was capable and caring, he would notice and appreciate her efforts.
But Margaret was always one step ahead, manipulating Emily's father into believing that Emily was a burden. She would whisper in his ear, "John, Emily's being difficult again. She's not helping out enough with Lily."
Emily's father, oblivious to Margaret's manipulation, would scold Emily, "Emily, you need to be more helpful. Margaret's doing a lot for this family, and you should appreciate it."
The words stung, and Emily felt her resentment growing. She realized that Margaret was painting her as a burden, turning her father against her. Emily's determination to stand up for herself grew stronger, but she knew she had to tread carefully.
As the days went by, Emily felt like she was walking on thin ice, never knowing when Margaret would lash out at her next. But she refused to give up, holding onto the hope that her father would one day see the truth and stand up for her.
The question was, would he realize his mistake in time, or would Margaret's manipulation tear them further apart?
