Chapter 3 - First Time in the Dungeon [2]

----------------------------------

[Chapter Size: 2520 Words]

----------------------------------

The two goblins from before were still in their original places, but three new goblins were standing next to them.

Picking up a stone from the ground, I threw it with all my strength in the direction opposite from where the room I was in, and on hearing the stone making sounds, three of the goblins started moving towards it.

Even if I knew that I am stronger now and will not die, why to take a risk when I could simplify it.

*KIEEEEE* *KIEE*

As soon as the three goblins had disappeared from my sight, I darted out of the room and immediately moved towards one of the two goblins, the goblins also turned at the sudden sound, and upon spotting me, immediately roared, running towards me.

*chhk*

I immediately unsheathed my sword and blocked the first goblin's attack which had lunged at my head and overpowering it, pushed it towards the ground as it had no support in the air due to it lunging at me.

I was not fast enough to avoid the attack of the second goblin towards my thighs, but as I turned a bit to the left and crouched, the goblins attack landed on the armor on my abdomen instead of my thighs, only leaving a nick on the armor.

*thwack*

My sword stabbed straight through the goblin, killing it immediately.

*gahhh*

The first goblin had gotten up from the ground, but it was unsteady on its feet, obviously my earlier though to the ground had injured it, but still with a guttural roar, it rushed towards me.

*thud*

Bringing my sheath with the other hand in a solid hit on its head, it fell down, turning into ash.

*rghhhh* *gahhh*

Without even giving me a chance to adjust, the other three goblins also appeared at the end of the corridor, charging towards me.

I gripped my sword and got into a basic sword stance and rushed towards them.

The three goblins did not rush at me at the same time which gave me a chance to grab the first goblin with my left hand as soon as it came near to me and throw it at the last one, simultaneously blocking an attack from the second goblin with my sword sheath and then stab it in its chest, turning it to ash. I quickly followed up and sliced the other two goblins who were still fallen before they got up.

The battle was over and five more magic stones to my pouch, bring the total up to 12 magic stones.

Another thing I felt grateful regarding the system was that it had my health and stats digitalized, meaning that any fatigue or injuries I got would would just result in a decrease of hp points and not hinder me from fighting, and also no mental strain due to the skill gamers mind.

'As Normally, other adventures had to fight while keeping their fatigue and injuries in mind, otherwise they might end up dying due to a momentary lapse of concentration or missing a single strike due to their fatigue build-up.'

I decided to level up first and then think whether to complete the unique quest, reaching floor 5 or not.

There was also the random quest of killing 10 monsters in 5 mins and the daily quest of killing 200 monsters and till now I had only killed 12.

Lets go in order, first the random quest, then the daily quest and then the unique quest.

After deciding my route of action, I headed towards the direction in which the three goblins had rushed back.

*KIEEEEE* *KIEEE* *KIEEEEE*

I think my luck was good? because three more goblins had spawned before I even reached the end of the corridor, which were swiftly taken care off, each with a kick and a slash turning them to ash, adding 3 more magic stones in my pouch.

I then looked at the map, it was lit up and showing the way back from the place I was in and the way back towards the dungeon entrance. The rest of the surroundings were black, maybe I had to explore it for it to light up?

I sheathed my sword and started moving in a random unexplored direction to complete my quest and light up this floor's map.

----------

I ducked to the side and slashed against the final goblin out of the five goblins which had spawned and felt a rush of power passing through my entire body.

Feeling strange I checked the system only to see a notification showing that I had leveled up.

I immediately opened the status screen to check the changes in my status.

---------------------------

---Status:---

Level: 2 (0/200)***

HP: 1600

MP: 2600

CON: 16

SPI: 26

Status points: 2

-----------------------------

The exp required for level 2 was increased to 200, my HP and MP had increased by a 100.

Constitution and spirit had increased by a point, I guess that was the reason which caused me to feel a power surge.

I also had gotten 2 free status points, which I left it as is, keeping it for when I may need it.

I had also successfully completed the random quest and the rewards were,

---------------------

---Quest--------

Random Quest: Kill 10 monsters in 5 min (Completed)

Rewards: Skill - Spatial Sense

-----------------------

On clicking on the the reward, a smaller pop-up screen explained the ability in detail.

----------------------

Spatial sense

Allows you to sense anything in a certain range of space all around you.

Current distance: 5m

Senses can be strengthened the more you use it.

-----------------------

I was really satisfied with such a powerful skill as a reward and once again set out to hunt more goblins.

...

About 30 minutes from my descent into the dungeon, I had lit up maybe 50% of the entire 1st floor, not sure because I had nothing to compare to, and I could not see the entire first floor map.

There were a few more scratches on my armor and I found out another good thing.

I had gotten a small scratch on my cheek due to my carelessness while fighting using the spatial sense for the first time and overloaded my senses with the information from the surroundings and could only evade the attack at the last minute.

The scratch, it immediately healed after the fight, not even a scar was left and when I checked the status screen, it showed my HP had gone down by 5 points.

--------------------------------

HP: 1595 / 1600

---------------------------------

My MP showed no changes as I still had not learned any magic.

The magic stones in my pouch had increased from 12 to 40, and after leveling up to Level 2 the exp from the monster had gone down to 3 exp each from 5 exp.

Once again, tightening my grip on the sword, I set out in an unlighted region on my map to light it up (explore it).

...

Around 2 hours or so had passed since me entering the dungeon. I had reached level 3 and had hunted around 60 more goblins, which now gave me a pitiful 1 exp and some did not even give any exp.

I was taking a small break after completely exploring the first floor, at the staircase to the second floor.

The stairs in front of me extended downwards for quite a distance, the entry way to the second floor of the dungeon.

I looked at the map in the corner of my vision, it was showing the complete 1st floor, even corners or dead-ends which even most of the adventures do not visit.

I felt like I had done something great, completely mapping the entire first floor, and also if I copied it down, could I sell it to the guild? If so how much would it cost?

'Ahem~ Ahem~ I need to concentrate, going forward from here is the second floor of the dungeon, and as per the class, the second floor has a higher chance of an adventurer meeting kobolds or armed goblins and in larger groups.'

After finishing my break, I stood up and started down the stairs to the second floor.

The blue walls of the second floor were still the same color, but the air felt a little more heavier.

Just after going down the stairs, I was greeted by a group of four goblins and two kobolds spawning in the open space near the stairs.

Immediately activating my spatial sense, I dashed towards the first goblin, picking it up by its neck and throwing it towards the two kobolds at the back.

*Bwaaa*

The kobolds with surprised faces could only look on as the goblin hit them square in the face, knocking them over.

*grrrrr*

Sensing a goblin aiming at my chest from the right and another goblin trying to attack near my thigh, I took two steps back going out of the goblins reach and vertically hacked at the right one, cut it down, and turned towards the left one, when I sensed the last goblin sneaking behind it.

Blocking the first goblins attack, I did not immediately deflect the goblins attack, waiting for the goblin behind it to come closer, and then put more force on my sword's swing making the goblin stumble into the one behind it.

*thwack*

Then while the two were unbalanced a single straight stab went through the two of them, dropping two more magic stones.

The fight with the three goblins did not even take 10 seconds, and the two knocked down kobolds and the now lone goblin got up and rushed towards me.

*GRRRR* *KIEEEE*

The kobolds were a little more faster than the goblin, reaching me in a straight dash allowing me to read their movements easily and counter their attacks, with me using my sword sheath to block the attack of a kobold and slice up the other one.

*SHLICK*

I cut the arm of the other kobold in a surprise attack, the kobold in shock for a moment looking between it's fallen arm and its bleeding hand, and soon roared again and turned to attack me, only to find a sharp blade in it's face.

*KIEE? KIEEEEEE*

The lone goblin hesitated for a moment looking at other monsters which had turned to ash and then seemingly gathering courage attacked me, rushed at me and got a sword in it's abdomen turning into ash and dropping a magic stone.

I picked up the magic stones fallen on the ground, but this time instead of storing in my pouch, I tried storing it in my inventory, and was able to easily store them.

But the goblin magic stones and the kobold ones were stored separately in two different squares.

The same type of stones were stacked, goblin magic stones x4, kobold magic stones x2.

'I wanted to store the magic stones which I had gotten from the second floor in my inventory because similar to all cliche stories, those who attended the adventurer class or were not part of any Familia or without a Falna were advised to stay on the first floor only for a few weeks, try to become a little accustomed to the dungeon, find a suitable familia and get the falna from their new patron gods/goddesses, then either alone or form groups to descend to the second floor.'

Also, another thing to note was that magic stones on different floors had a different level of mana in it. E.g., a magic stone from the fifth floor had twice the amount of mana in it compare to the third floor.

Hence the requirement for the magic stones to be appraised at the guild before an adventurer was paid for it.

So if I, who had just completed the adventurer class yesterday, and handed over magic stones from the second floor or lower, there would be many questions raised and answers for me to provide, or I may even be involved in some less than favorable conditions especially considering the current situation of Orario.

...

After nearly 3 hours and a few more breaks, I was able to completely map out the second floor too.

I had also come across a few other parties and avoided them, who knows what would or can happen in the dungeon.

"It was worth the effort of defeating those 40 goblins and 30 kobolds, I was able to level up" I made a imaginary fist bump to myself.

Even after almost 5 to 6 hours of continuous fighting, I still did not feel any fatigue at all, neither physical nor mental, in fact every time I levelled up, I felt even more energized that before.

The conclusion, gamer body and gamer mind skills are definitely broken.

...

The walls of the third floor still were the same shade of light blue.

'Ah, if I remember correctly, you can expect to see dungeon lizards from the third floor onwards and the number of enemies you face increases sharply and the goblins and kobolds become stronger and more cunning.'

*Grrrrrr* *KIEEEEE* *SSSSHHHH*

My greeting for the third floor was even more grander than the 2nd floor, as soon as I entered the first room after going down the stairs, five goblins, three kobolds and one dungeon lizard, if the feeling what I was experiencing from the ceiling above was correct, a total of nine monsters spawning on the third floor was definitely a grand welcome.

*TINGGG* *THWACK*

Keeping an eye out for the dungeon lizard on the ceiling, I got myself in a defensive stance to meet the goblins and kobolds rushing towards me. Blocking the goblin's dagger aiming for my thigh, I slid my sword across its dagger, stabbing it in the chest, and immediately side stepped to my right, allowing the two goblins who attacked me from the front and the back to slip past me.

*SHLICK*

Turning around, a single slash from my sword to their exposed back's was enough to finish the two goblins off, I had to crouch immediately to avoid a kobold's club to my head from behind, and a half sweep from my sword in my crouching position brought down the kobold.

*SSSSSHHHHH*

As I took a breath staring at the other goblins and kobolds, waiting for them to rush at me, the dungeon lizard jumped down at me from the ceiling, it was good thing I had gotten spatial sense, as I was able to immediately sense the the lizards movement and hold up my sword towards the incoming lizard which was already in the air, the end result being the lizard getting skewered from my sword easily.

Seeing me distracted by the lizard, the remaining two goblins and kobolds immediately rushed towards me to attack me but as I easily skewered the dungeon lizard without even looking at the lizard, they stagnated for a few seconds allowing me to take up the attack, I easily slashed a kobold and a goblin before the two leftover monsters, came back to their senses and lunged at me.
