Chapter 49 - .49

Danielle looked confused, and Zachary immediately grabbed her waist.

"Quick, call me 'husband.'"

Danielle winced in pain and let out a soft hiss.

"What are you doing? That hurts."

Zachary slightly loosened his grip but still refused to let go of Danielle.

"Call me 'husband.'"

Danielle noticed a hint of vulnerability in his serious eyes. She furrowed her brows.

"Are you unhappy? Why?"

Zachary didn't say anything but kept looking at her firmly.

Danielle stayed silent for a moment before suddenly smiling.

"Okay, husband, can you let go of me now?"

Zachary's ears turned slightly red, but he acted calm as he released her.

"Mm."

Danielle couldn't help but laugh; he was such a cute person.

Even though they had already shared a bed, in the bedroom, Zachary would say anything. But once out of bed, he acted so innocent. The more Danielle thought about it, the more she found it amusing.

Unexpectedly, she tiptoed and wrapped her arms around his neck, their lips briefly touching. Zachary froze for a moment before taking control of the kiss.

"Oh my god, I didn't see anything!" Fei Yang exaggerated, raising his hands in mock surprise.

Leng, however, wasn't shy at all and watched openly.

Zachary, unwilling to let the moment go, glared at Fei Yang.

"I see you're asking for it. Let's go, we're practicing outside."

Without caring about Fei Yang's protests, he dragged him out.

Leng gave Danielle a thumbs-up. "Seeing you so happy, I almost want to find a man myself."

Danielle glanced at her with a flirtatious look, almost making Leng feel like she might turn into a woman-loving woman right then and there.

Leng blushed slightly, feeling awkward as she avoided Danielle's lingering gaze.

"Don't look at me like that, or I might drag you into bed."

Danielle rolled her eyes and let the playful expression fade as she returned to a clear-eyed look.

"Go away. Even if you wanted to drag me into bed, I'd still have to agree. Look at how desperate you are—maybe you should go find a man."

"Sigh, finding a man is easy, but finding the right one is hard."

A touch of sadness flashed in Leng's eyes as though she was thinking of someone.

Danielle sighed, remembering something.

She hesitated, unsure whether to speak up.

Leng quickly noticed and glared at her.

"Just say it already! You're giving me goosebumps."

Danielle rolled her eyes, realizing she had overthought it.

She activated her wristband, bringing up a repayment message and showing it to Leng.

Leng was surprised. "Is this Lu Yi?"

Danielle nodded. "The transfer date is the same day we met him. He must have been on a mission."

Although the amount was just a few thousand, it wasn't easy for Lu Yi, now a one-armed man, to repay that much.

Leng's smile faded, and for a moment, she seemed lost in thought.

Danielle didn't interrupt her and instead went into the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Jin Shan pretended not to know anything about what was happening outside.

She looked at the tomatoes Danielle had brought out with interest. "Where did you get these tomatoes? I feel like they're better than the ones we get at the store."

And for some reason, she felt a faint energy emanating from these tomatoes, unlike the usual ones.

Danielle casually smiled. "You haven't seen my little garden? I grew them myself. If you like, I can give you a few to take home."

Danielle was generous with a big customer like Jin Shan.

Jin Shan nodded and changed the topic, asking what they were having for dinner.

Danielle thought for a moment. "How about scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and some cabbage stew with meatballs? You know how to make meatballs, right?"

Jin Shan tilted his head, confused. "What are meatballs?"

"You don't know what meatballs are?"

Danielle looked at Jin Shan in disbelief, feeling like he was starting to look like a big fool in her eyes.

But he really didn't know.

Danielle took a deep breath, realizing it wasn't his fault—this was all due to the lack of civilization. Who would have thought that such a great food country had ended up like this?

"Never mind, I'll teach you. First, chop up this meat, the finer the better."

Then Danielle went off to do other things.

When she came back, she found Jin Shan had taken off his shirt. To her surprise, he had a great physique with well-defined muscles. Jin Shan hadn't expected Danielle to come back at that moment and froze, obviously a bit flustered.

"Well, I took it off because my shirt got wet, so I…"

Chopping meat was a physical task, and since he was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, it wasn't convenient. So, he just took it off.

Danielle awkwardly coughed. "Ah, that's fine, you…"

Before she could finish speaking, she was suddenly pulled into a warm embrace.

Zachary's cold voice sounded above Danielle's head.

"Mr. Jin, please be mindful of the situation. I'll go upstairs and get you a short-sleeved shirt."

Jin Shan smiled nonchalantly. "Mr. Zachary, don't worry so much. I just took off my shirt, not my pants. It's not that serious."

"Men should have some decency."

Zachary's words seemed to squeeze out one by one.

Saying this, he directly pulled Danielle out.

Zachary gave Danielle a hard pat on the head. "Wait until he puts on his shirt, then you can go in. Otherwise, you're not allowed to go in."

Danielle winced in pain and obediently nodded, pouting in dissatisfaction.

"Why are you being so rough? I didn't even know he wasn't wearing a shirt."

"Yeah, Mr. Zachary, this has nothing to do with Danielle. If you're going to make a fuss, you should take it out on me."

Jin Shan, holding a tomato, smiled as he walked out.

An unexpected tension built up between the two men, which confused Danielle.

Leng, standing nearby, kept her eyes flashing, laughing quietly. "This is so much more fun than those silly TV dramas, isn't it?"

Zachary furrowed his brows. It was clear that Jin Shan was still trying to provoke him, making it seem like Danielle thought he was petty.

He smiled coldly. "Mr. Jin, you're thinking too much. This is just a little fun between husband and wife. Outsiders wouldn't understand."

The word "outsider" made Jin Shan pause, and he took a deep breath. He turned to Danielle.

"Danielle, the meat filling is chopped up. What should we do next? Should I cut the tomatoes?"

Danielle smiled awkwardly. "Don't rush with that. First, you should put on your shirt. I'm going to the little garden for a bit."

She quickly ran off.

As soon as Danielle left, the two men both snorted coldly and turned away.

Fei Yang looked miserable. His wounds had just healed, yet he had been beaten by Zachary again. Now, his hair had been pulled by Leng, leaving him in a sorry state.

"Leng, next time, can you not yank my hair when you get excited?"

"Hmph, serves you right. Who told you to stand next to me?"

Leng was clearly still a little excited, her mouth moving as she chewed on her words. Fei Yang rolled his eyes.

"Really, you don't date, but you're always focused on other people's business."

Fei Yang quickly distanced himself from Leng, but before he could settle into a comfortable position, a loud explosion came from outside.

Bang!
