Danielle returned with the two injured people, just in time to see the bodyguard team coming out from next door.
When she saw Chu Hong, Danielle thought for a moment and still decided to give a reminder.
"Chu Xiong is at Jin Xiu Garden right now."
She said this without looking at Chu Hong's expression, and turned around to enter the house with Wang Dazhuang, who was visibly surprised.
"How are you two doing? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Danielle's expression was filled with concern and guilt. It was all because of her that they had to suffer through this ordeal.
Leng shook his head. "No need, let me rest for a bit. These are minor injuries, I can treat them, no need to waste money at the hospital."
Fei Yang lay down on the sofa with a long sigh. "Danielle, don't worry. These injuries might look scary, but they're not serious."
Suddenly, Fei Yang remembered something and jumped up from the sofa.
"Oh no, I forgot that Rain and Qingqing are still at my house."
Fei Yang immediately wanted to rush out, but Zachary quickly stopped him.
"They're fine."
Danielle had already let the two little ones out. As soon as Fei Qingqing came out, she ran to Fei Yang crying.
The little one was clearly frightened.
Danielle gently rubbed the two kids' heads. "I'm sorry, this all happened because of me."
"Danielle, don't say that. We're friends."
Fei Yang smiled foolishly, not caring about the situation at all. "Besides, didn't you save me?"
Leng, who wasn't very talkative, still nodded in agreement.
Danielle felt touched. Before she could say anything more, an exaggerated wailing sound came from outside.
It sounded like Chu Xiong. Just as she was curious, the front door was knocked.
Danielle frowned immediately. How much more of this was there going to be? She rolled up her sleeves and stormed outside.
"I told you, I have nothing to do with him!"
Danielle's angry voice dropped abruptly when she saw Jin Shan standing there.
"Why is it you?"
Jin Shan looked back in confusion, "Who else would it be?"
"No, I meant weren't you supposed to be handling something?"
Danielle awkwardly lowered her sleeves, just as Zachary walked over, pulling her into his arms and leading her back inside.
"Let's talk inside."
Jin Shan looked at Zachary's possessive gesture, and his interest in Danielle grew even more.
He hadn't expected that Danielle would actually indulge this man!
Jin Shan walked in leisurely behind them, and the bodyguards remained outside, facing away from Danielle's house.
Once inside, Jin Shan gave a polite smile to Leng and Fei Yang. "I'm sorry about this. Because of some internal matters with the Jin family, you two were caught up in it. This is a small token from me, please accept it."
He showed them his wristband and tapped it.
Soon, a notification chimed.
"Two million received."
Fei Yang jumped up immediately upon hearing the amount.
"Two... two million?"
Jin Shan smiled slightly, his lips curling into a polite, yet distant smile.
"Yes. Because of the trouble caused by the Jin family, this is a small compensation. I hope you both accept it."
Leng, familiar with Fei Yang, immediately knew what was about to happen and quickly covered his mouth, preventing him from embarrassing himself.
Leng calmly nodded at Jin Shan. "Then I'll accept your kindness, Mr. Jin. Danielle, can I borrow a room? I'd like to treat Fei Yang's injuries."
Danielle tried to suppress a smile and pointed to the guest room downstairs.
"Go ahead, everything you need is in there."
Danielle sent the two little ones upstairs to play. After the house was quiet, she motioned for Jin Shan to sit and then asked about what had happened earlier.
Jin Shan looked guilty, explaining that it was all because of the red-braised bear paw he had brought back.
The people in the Jin family had a natural gift for cooking. When they saw such a unique and delicious dish, how could they not go wild?
Jin Mei'er had a talent similar to Jin Shan's, both having an awakened sense of smell.
But Jin Baiwei, the head of the Jin family, thought that Jin Shan was luckier than Jin Mei'er. That's why he chose Jin Shan to be the future head of the family.
Jin Mei'er refused to accept such a ridiculous reason, so she worked hard to prove her luck was better than Jin Shan's.
Who would've thought that a plate of red-braised bear paw would make her admit her luck wasn't as good?
The Jin family's descendants all visited the shop every month, so why was it Jin Shan who encountered Danielle, not her?
Fueled by anger, Jin Mei'er took it out on Danielle.
A cold light flickered in Jin Shan's eyes as he looked at Danielle. "Danielle, don't worry. I've already handled it. I promise the Jin family won't bother you again."
Danielle nodded. "You'd better keep your word, or I won't hesitate to cancel our deal."
It was just fifty million. With her ability, it would only be a matter of time before she earned it.
Jin Shan nodded but said nothing. After all, making too many promises would come off as insincere. He preferred to show his actions.
He then handed Danielle four invitation cards. "My grandfather's birthday is on the eighth of next month. I hope you and the others can come."
Danielle looked at Zachary. "Do you want to go?"
Zachary didn't mind either way.
But Jin Shan had other ideas. He wanted to show everyone that Danielle was on his side.
He smiled slightly. "That day, not only will the Jin family be there, but also other influential families from the middle circle. If, at that time, people think you're aligned with us, I believe your troubles will be fewer."
This reasoning... Danielle couldn't refuse.
And... the illegitimate children of the eight major families? They were the perfect source of information.
After all, the affairs of the central circle wouldn't just appear on the wristbands.
Even people from the middle or lower circles wouldn't know much about the life in the central circle.
Danielle thought about it and nodded. "Alright, we'll definitely come."
Zachary took the invitation, his gaze toward Jin Shan cold and distant.
"Since everything's settled, we won't keep you, Mr. Jin."
Jin Shan picked up on Zachary's displeasure, but he didn't care.
After all, he was thirty years old now. How could he compete with a younger man? He had better ways to handle things.
Jin Shan smiled at Danielle, his demeanor magnanimous.
"It's already getting late. I don't know what Danielle wants to do tonight, but I can help."
Danielle thought about their agreement and didn't hesitate. She nodded.
Jin Shan, seeing Zachary's tight-lipped expression, confidently took off his coat and walked toward the kitchen.
"Danielle, I'll wait for you in there."
