Chapter 36 - Beastmaster

Dusk, a gentle breeze, no rain.

Half a day had passed since Master Karlu reported that the trolls were marching towards the mining area.

Galen stood on the city wall, gazing into the distance with vacant eyes, his mental power connected to the base map.

On the road from Witherbark Village to the mine, Galen had 미리 arranged many mechanical gadgets, disguised as small spiders, mice, and velociraptors.

Galen had lit up most of the northern field of vision with these small animals, numbering more than a dozen.

Galen's mental power was highly concentrated as he stared intently at the map.

Suddenly, there was a disturbance in the north.

Tall figures emerged from the darkness of the field of vision, their green skin covered in moss, their disheveled hair hanging loose, and two huge fangs protruding from their mouths, making these creatures look ferocious.

Leading the way was a strong troll riding a white velociraptor, with long green hair and a spear in his hand, surrounded by several troll witch doctors wearing white wooden masks.

Galen recognized him: Beastmaster Rak'zan, a famous strongman of the Witherbark tribe, a master level velociraptor knight, and a notorious bloodthirsty butcher on the Arathi Highlands.

Not only that, Galen also knew that killing him in his previous life could drop the Swift White Velociraptor mount, but unfortunately, the drop rate was too low, and Galen had never obtained it in his previous life.

Following Rak'zan was a large group of trolls, wielding axes and wooden shields, wearing simple leather armor, their huge feet and thick thighs allowing them to walk on the undulating hills as if on flat ground.

At the rear were a group of headhunters, their fiery red hair particularly conspicuous among the green, their backs hunched over, carrying a bag of javelins for throwing.

Thanks to their height of more than two meters, the trolls marched quickly.

It took nearly five minutes for this large group of trolls to disappear from view and enter the darkness on the other side.

Galen exited the current interface, slowly exhaled, turned to the guards behind him and said, "Inform Aide-de-camp Amor that the trolls will arrive in about half an hour.

At the same time, notify Archmage Gandalf to contact Danath and inform him of the trolls' movements."

Two guards ran off to inform Amor and Gandalf respectively.

Just as the guards relayed Galen's words to Amor on the city wall, they saw the Ravenholdt Manor stalker appear at the city gate, shouting, "The trolls are still five kilometers away from us."

Amor looked surprised, he didn't know how His Highness the Prince was able to get the news faster than the stalker scouts.

Of course, this thought was only fleeting, and the top priority now was to prepare for battle.

"Everyone, be on alert."

The waiting time is always long.

Troll figures began to appear at the mouth of the canyon, one, two, three.

Led by the velociraptor knight Rak'zan, the trolls slowly marched into the canyon in formation.

Although the trolls saw the watchtowers on both sides of the canyon, they only scouted them and ignored them after finding that the entire watchtower was empty.

In front of the city wall, the trolls stopped advancing outside the range of the musketeers.

Beastmaster Rak'zan rode the albino velociraptor to the front and fell silent as he looked at the stone-built city gate in front of him.

Rak'zan had just returned to Witherbark Village from Shadra'Alor a few days ago.

He rode his albino velociraptor all the way through the mountain pass inside the Alterac Mountains, arriving one step earlier than Chieftain Zalas Witherbark, only to find that Witherbark Village had been blocked by humans, and many scouts had been killed or injured, with no knowledge of what had happened outside.

It wasn't until a letter from a human traitor informing him that a team from the human kingdom had re-stationed in the mining area south of Witherbark Village and joined forces with the human army in the north to strangle their scouts.

How could Rak'zan, who was already hot-tempered, endure this?

He angrily smashed his beloved wine glass, issued an order to gather young and strong men overnight, spent nearly a day preparing the team, and then rushed over to teach the humans a lesson, avenge the dead tribesmen, and vent the anger in his heart.

The city gate in front of him was a bit unexpected.

The last time he led the tribe to destroy this human mining area and drive the humans out of this area, at that time this place was just a stockade gate made of wooden frames, and he rode his beloved little heart and scattered these woods with a single charge.

But now in front of him is a stone wall.

But it's just a five-meter-high stone wall.

Two warriors can jump onto the city wall with cooperation.

Rak'zan looked at the hundreds of human soldiers on the city head and was quite confident in his heart.

This is a sure thing.

He will be able to destroy the human mine again.

How can humans be allowed to mine at the bedside of Witherbark Village?

On the other side, Galen looked at the more than 2,000 Scarlet Flame Army soldiers ambushing under the city wall, as well as more than 1,000 noble private soldiers, nearly 4,000 strong men.

Outside the canyon, Danath was rapidly approaching the canyon, attacking from both sides.

What a good way to lure the enemy in deep and catch a rabbit in a hat.

This is a sure thing.

Heh! Heh! Heh!

Gandalf glanced at Galen strangely, feeling that the prince's smile just now was very sinister, and he must be holding back some bad water.

He quietly took half a step back.

Outside the city gate, Rak'zan got off his mount and became a little impatient.

He wanted to kill all the humans inside as soon as possible, destroy the city wall, vent his anger, and seize the fruits of victory as soon as possible.

He raised his spear in his right hand and shouted, "For the glory of the Witherbark tribe, warriors, advance, attack with me."

The warriors in the front row raised their shields and began to charge, while the headhunters behind them drew their spears, ready to provide long-range cover, and the witch doctors prepared to release buff spells at any time.

Rak'zan had already begun to imagine the next scene: his warriors rushing to the bottom of the city wall, cooperating to jump onto the city wall, and killing wantonly.

"Warriors, raise your shields."

"Musketeers, four hundred meters ahead, suppressive fire."

The infantry and musketeers on the city wall were all from the base.

The effective range of their muskets was 150 yards, and the effective probability of shooting at 400 yards.

Later, they could also research long-barreled muskets in the barracks to increase the range of the musketeers.

The infantry directly held up their shields, forming a row on the city wall, guarding in front of the musketeers, allowing them to concentrate and shoot the enemy with peace of mind.

Shield Defense: Infantry wield heavy shields, which can reduce the damage from long-range physical attacks.

The infantry's shield defense was simply the nemesis of the headhunters' javelin attacks, and the damage caused by their javelins was minimal.

The musketeers raised their muskets, aimed, and fired.

With such a large group of trolls, they didn't need to aim carefully, they just needed to aim at the approximate position and fire.

After the musket was fired, the city wall was filled with the gunpowder smoke of black powder.

The metal bullets hit the wooden shields of the trolls in the front row, and the muffled sound of the bullets entering the wood rose and fell, adding a bit of intensity to the battlefield.

"Correct the aim."

"Second team, three hundred and fifty meters ahead, fire."

Occasional bullets passed through the gaps between the shields and hit the trolls.

The trolls who were hit by the bullets unexpectedly let out painful howls.

After three rounds of suppressive fire, the wooden shields of some trolls began to be shattered by the bullets.

The exposed trolls were immediately finished off by the musketeers and fell to the ground, and the vacant positions were filled by the shield-wielding trolls behind them.

At this moment, the headhunters also began to counterattack by throwing spears, but most of the attacks were blocked by the shield-wielding infantry.

The trolls paid a small price and finally arrived at the bottom of the city wall.
