Chapter 3 - C-099 "veilhound" discovered by director "omega"

Anomaly Designation veilhound (C-099)

Classification: Class E (: Cooperative)

Containment Status: Active, under Directive surveillance

Description: The Veilhound is a spectral canine entity resembling a large black hunting dog with faintly glowing amber eyes. Its body appears semi-translucent under certain lighting conditions, and it emits a low, constant growl that can only be heard by individuals sensitive to anomalous frequencies. The entity is incorporeal except when engaging with other anomalies or tracking its designated target.

The Veilhound's primary anomalous trait is its ability to sense and track disruptions in reality, including other anomalies, dimensional rifts, and residual energy from anomalous events. The accuracy of its tracking increases with proximity and the magnitude of the anomaly.

Behavioral Profile: The Veilhound displays a high degree of intelligence and obedience when given commands related to anomaly tracking. However, it demonstrates erratic, hostile tendencies during full moons or when exposed to prolonged anomalous activity. During these periods, the Veilhound's loyalty becomes questionable, requiring it to be muzzled and restrained with Ectoplasmic Suppression Collars (ESC-3).

The Veilhound forms temporary bonds with handlers assigned to it but shows no signs of long-term attachment. It communicates through subtle body language and changes in the pitch of its growl, which experienced handlers can interpret as binary signals.

Containment Protocols:

The Veilhound is housed in a reinforced containment chamber lined with silver-threaded plating when not deployed.

Daily mental conditioning sessions are required to maintain the entity's cooperative state.

The Veilhound must be equipped with an ESC-3 muzzle and collar during all field missions.

Full moon deployments are strictly prohibited without direct authorization from Cooperative Asset Division Command.

Operational Usage:

Tracking rogue anomalies across urban and wilderness zones.

Identifying hidden breaches between dimensions.

Recovering lost anomalous artifacts or personnel.

Assisting in the location of Class H entities before containment teams arrive.

Known Limitations:

Unreliable under lunar influence.

Unable to track anomalies with no physical or dimensional presence.

Requires continuous conditioning to prevent loss of cooperative behavior.

Possible connection to older anomalous entities predating the Directive.

Incident Report C-099-21: On ██/██/20██, the Veilhound deviated from its tracking mission, refusing all commands and leading its handler into a known Class X anomaly zone. The handler was recovered alive but unresponsive, muttering phrases in an unknown language. The Veilhound returned to containment without prompting two days later. Since the incident, the Veilhound has displayed a heightened awareness of human mortality and exhibits prolonged periods of stillness when near dying individuals.

Further research into the Veilhound's origins is ongoing.

Status: Active Cooperative Asset — High Risk
