Chapter 3 - An Extra in the Spotlight

Victoria Phoenix, known as Suzuki in the game, stepped out of the carriage with an elegance that could stop anyone in their tracks. Her appearance was even more captivating than her in-game art.

But as soon as she set foot on the ground, her face shifted to one of frustration and concern, mirroring the emotions her character felt in the game.

Silas chuckled under his breath. He knew exactly what she was going through.

"She's probably as freaked out as I am," he thought. "Except she's the villainess, so that's gonna be interesting."

Then, a thought struck him — the system had told him to "have fun" in this new life. So why not take it seriously?

With a mischievous grin, Silas strode towards Victoria, bowing with dramatic flair.

"O beautiful lady Victoria! It is a true honor to meet you!"

Victoria — or rather, Suzuki — froze, taken aback by the unexpected approach. In the game, this kind of interaction never happened. Side characters like Silas were never meant to make a move on her. The plot didn't allow for it.

But after a beat, she composed herself, her awkwardness mixing with a hint of hope.

Maybe this is a chance to act differently...

After all, she was in control of her fate now. She didn't want to end up like the villainess in the original story.

"U-uh… hello there!" she stammered, her voice betraying her NEET bookworm nature. She wasn't quite the poised villainess she was meant to be.

Silas, enjoying the moment, tilted his head slightly. "May I walk with you to our first class?"

He was having fun with this. After all, what else was there to do in this messed-up new world? Why not dive into the chaos of the main cast's drama?

"Ummm..." Victoria faltered, glancing around uncertainly. "Are we even in the same class?"

She gave a nervous laugh, an awkward smile tugging at her lips. It was the complete opposite of the confident, scheming villainess she was supposed to be.

Silas froze, realization hitting him like a ton of bricks. Right... I'm literally an extra. I don't even belong in the main cast's classes.

His face fell slightly, but then he shrugged it off with a light chuckle. "I see… I guess not."

He gave a dramatic bow to her. "My apologies for the intrusion."

As he turned to leave, he caught a glimpse of a golden-haired figure standing near the entrance of the academy. It was the heroine — the game's protagonist. The very one Suzuki had read about.

The main character.

The one who would inevitably become the centerpiece of all the drama.

Silas smirked to himself. "Well... I guess being a background character isn't so bad after all."

Silas stepped into the academy, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Lockers lined the walls, and the architecture felt oddly American for a place with such a European-inspired design. It was one of the small things that had bugged him while playing the game — a detail that stuck out even now.

As he walked through the halls, he observed the students milling around. It was the usual mix of wealthy, spoiled faces — the kind of people who thought the world owed them everything. Silas couldn't help but roll his eyes.

Great, another day in paradise.

Then, it hit him — What even is my class?

He frowned and reached for his suitcase, hoping it might offer some clues. With a quick flick, the case popped open, revealing a slip of paper with his class assignment.

Silas stared at the slip of paper in his hand, his eyes narrowing.

"Class 4-D." He repeated it aloud, as if the words would somehow make more sense if he said them again.

4-D? Seriously?

He glanced around the hallway, still trying to get his bearings. The academy felt like a maze.

I'm in the class of literal background characters. Fantastic.

He glanced around again, trying to get his bearings. His classroom seemed to be nowhere in sight. He wandered the halls aimlessly, growing more frustrated by the second.

"Where in the world is it…" he muttered under his breath, the academy's bell ringing loudly above, signaling the start of classes.

His frustration was quickly interrupted when a figure rushed past him. A girl with blue hair — the classic "late girl" trope, complete with a piece of toast hanging from her mouth and a stack of books in her arms. She looked frantic as she dashed through the hallway, her eyes wide with panic.

Silas recognized her immediately. Cynthia Rein — one of the more important side characters in the game, and, as fate would have it, also in Class 4-D.

"Aaah! It's the first day and I'm already late!" Cynthia's voice echoed as she bolted past him.

Silas smirked. Well… I guess that's my guide to my first class.

With a quiet chuckle, he adjusted his pace and began following her down the hall, his steps now in sync with her hurried movements. The game might have been full of cliches, but at least this one worked in his favor.
