Chapter 5 - Player One, Rune Creator

As Silas moved through the halls, a sudden voice echoed inside his head.

[Condition Achieved: Create Custom Magic]

"What the...?" he muttered, before a game-like panel materialized in front of him, showing his character stats.

[Character Profile]

[User: Marcus Ravenfield]

[Skills]:

Rune Creation (SSS)

Assassin Training (SS+)

[Stats]:

Strength: 13 (C)

Dexterity: 16 (C)

Intelligence: 70 (S+)

Endurance: 15 (C)

Wisdom: 56 (A+)

Mana: 20 (C+)

Silas snickered as he glanced over his absurdly powerful skills. "Well, looks like transmigrating has its perks after all… other than my average stats, of course," he said with a chuckle, before pressing the close button in the corner of the screen.

[Warning: Use Rune Creation Skill (Recommended)]

He raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at his lips, before swiping the panel away.

"Well… I guess it wouldn't hurt," he muttered.

He clicked on the skill, and a new panel slid out beside the character profile, titled Rune Creation.

Quite creative...

[Rune Creation]

[Currently Learned]:

Fire Rune (Learned) (C)

Combustion Rune (Created) (A+)

"So that simple rune I created is an A+? Man… never thought I'd become one of those overpowered isekai protagonists," Silas chuckled, a bit impressed with himself. But then, his thoughts shifted back to the task at hand.

Oh, right…

Despite his best efforts to stay on track, Silas couldn't help but linger on the system panel, curiosity getting the better of him.

"You know what? One more rune wouldn't hurt..."

A wicked grin spread across his face as he clicked on Rune Creation again. This time, an ornate circle appeared before him, filled with intricate engravings, and three smaller circles arranged in a triangle within it.

[One Free Trial Rune Creation Used]

"I see… so it's not infinite. Makes sense," Silas muttered to himself, studying the complicated design. He pressed on one of the circles, and an overwhelming list of words flooded the screen, each one suitable for filling the circle.

"Okay… this is way too much…" he groaned. The list suddenly condensed, transforming into a simple search box.

[Search for Rune?]

Silas glanced around the hallway, making sure no one was watching him fiddle with the suspicious system. He typed in "Physical Enhancement", and within moments, a list of runes appeared.

[Runes]:

Physical Buff Rune (C) [Locked]

Physical Boost Rune (B) [Locked]

Physical Enhancement Rune (A+) [Locked]

Physical Apotheosis Rune (SSS+) [Locked]

"Well… everything's locked. This seems pointless," he muttered, trying to close the panel. Just as he was about to, another notification popped up.

[Recommended Rune Creation]

"This is starting to feel like the system is playing me instead of the other way around… but I'll play along for now," Silas sighed, pressing the notification. The list of physical enhancement runes disappeared, replaced by a new one.

[Runes]:

Mana Efficiency Rune (B+) (Unlocked)

Silas smirked, his eyes lighting up as he clicked on it. That was a far better find than what he'd been originally looking for. A satisfying click echoed as the system panels shut themselves, returning to his character profile.

Silas shook his head as he wandered the halls, once again lost in his search for the guidance counselor's office.

"The downside of transmigrating," he muttered to himself, "is not knowing where the hell anything is."

Just then, a familiar figure caught his eye—a character from the game. It was Dwayne Hour, one of the male love interests.

Silas raised an eyebrow, momentarily puzzled. What's he doing here? Then it clicked. In the game, Dwayne was a major delinquent, the first character to stir up drama on the very first day.

Guess he's headed to the guidance counselor too. Silas smirked. Well, I might as well follow him.

Silas trailed Dwayne from a distance, keeping an eye on him as the delinquent finally stopped in front of a door, studying the sign above it. After a beat, Dwayne entered.

Silas approached the same door, his curiosity piqued, and glanced up at the sign.

Guidance Counselor... Bingo.

With a sigh, Silas cracked his neck and knuckles—old habits die hard. He placed his hands on the door, pushing it open wide, wondering what kind of mess awaited him inside.
