Chapter 5 - Disastrous

Hazel's POV

I wake up to the soft glow of the morning sun filtering through the heavy curtains of my chamber. My body is still tangled with my husband's, his arm draped possessively over my waist. His scent was earthy, warm, and completely intoxicating wraps around me like a cocoon.

I sigh in satisfaction, letting my fingers trace slow circles on his bare chest. He stirs, a deep rumble vibrating from his throat.

"You're awake early," Adrian murmurs, voice thick with sleep.

I smirk, shifting so my lips hover just over his. "I have a pack to run, Alpha."

He tightens his grip around me, rolling us over so I'm beneath him. His golden eyes glint with mischief, and my breath hitches when his lips brush against my neck, lingering right where my mate mark rests.

"The pack can wait." His voice is husky, full of unspoken promises.

I shiver as his fingers trace the curve of my waist. "You're insatiable."

"And you love it," he counters, capturing my lips in a deep, slow kiss that steals the air from my lungs.

A sharp knock at the door ruins everything.

I groan in frustration, pushing against Adrian's chest. "Duty calls."

He sighs dramatically, pressing one last lingering kiss to my lips before rolling off of me. "Whoever's at that door owes me."

I laugh as I slide out of bed, throwing on a silk robe before opening the door. One of the pack's maids stands there, looking pale.

"Luna," she says hesitantly. "There's… a problem."

I arch a brow. "What kind of problem?"

She shifts nervously. "The new girl. She.. um she's in the kitchen."

I frown. "What did she do?"

The maid just shakes her head. "It's better if you see for yourself."

I step into the kitchen and freeze.

Selene, our newest and strangest addition to the pack is standing in the middle of the room, holding a burning kitchen towel like it's a sacred artifact.

I blink. "Why is that on fire?"

She tilts her head, studying the flames like they're fascinating. "I was cleansing it."

I rub my temples. "With fire?"

"Yes."

A second later, the flames lick her fingers.

Instead of panicking, she blows on them like they're candles on a birthday cake.

The fire grows bigger.

The head chef screams.

I lunge forward, grabbing a jug of water and dumping it over her hands. The flames sputter out.

Selene stares at the wet rag, frowning. "You ruined my purification ritual."

I gape at her. "I saved you from burning your hands off!"

She shrugs. "I am a goddess. Fire cannot harm me."

I take a deep breath, reminding myself that I am a patient Luna.

The chef, however, is not as patient.

"She tried to make 'food,'" he says, looking betrayed. "She put salt in the tea and tried to boil eggs in oil."

Selene gasps. "You mean to tell me you do not boil eggs in oil?"

The chef looks like he might pass out.

I pinch the bridge of my nose. "Selene. How have you survived this long?"

She lifts her chin. "I do not need sustenance in my true form."

I exhale sharply. "Well, in this form, you do. And that means learning how things work."

She pouts. Actually pouts.

"I do not like learning," she mutters. "It is hard."

The chef mutters something about throwing himself into the oven.

I place my hands on my hips. "Selene, from now on, you are banned from the kitchen."

She gasps like I just sentenced her to exile.

"That is cruel and unusual punishment!"

"That is necessary."

She huffs, crossing her arms. "Fine. But I still do not understand why your kitchen gods require so many rules."

Kitchen gods?

I stare at her.

She stares back.

I sigh.

It's too early for this.

I leave the disaster zone that is the kitchen and return to my chambers, needing peace.

Adrian is still lounging in bed, shirtless, his eyes watching me with a knowing smirk.

"Handled it?" he asks lazily.

I collapse next to him. "Define handled."

He chuckles, pulling me into his arms. "You're tense."

I melt into him, letting his warmth drown out my frustration.

His lips brush my temple. Then my cheek. Then lower.

"I could help you relax," he murmurs.

I shiver, tilting my head as his mouth finds my pulse.

I couldn't help but tremble as his mouth danced around me. The scent of his hair filled my nostrils, igniting a flame within me. But it was his gentle touch that truly undone me.

"Cassian," I whispered, my voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart.

His lips curled into a sly smile as he reached out, his fingers tracing the curve of my jaw. "My Luna," he whispered, his breath sending shivers down my spine.

With a gentle tug, he pulled me closer, our lips meeting in a fiery explosion of passion. His tongue danced with mine, the taste of him intoxicating me.

As we deepened the kiss, Cassian's hands roamed my body, leaving trails of fire in their wake. His touch was possessive, claiming me as his own.

I melted into his embrace, my body surrendering to his dominance. The room around us dissolved, leaving only the two of us, lost in the inferno of our desire.

Cassian's hands slid beneath my shirt, his fingers teasing my skin. I arched into his touch, my body begging for more.

With a growl, he lifted me and straightened me onto the bed, his body covering mine. His lips devoured me, our passion consuming us both.

In that moment, I knew I was his, body and soul. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

He pulled out my panties and flinged it to God knows where, he shoved his head under my night singlet, sucking my n*poles, I was already moaning loudly.

He almost removed his rope when…..

BANG!

The door flies open.

"LUNA!"

I yelp, scrambling to cover myself as Selene bursts into the room.

Adrian lets out a deadly growl.

I shoot up, glaring. "Selene, what the..?!"

She throws her arms up. "I HAVE BEEN ATTACKED."

My eyes widen. "What? By who?"

She gestures to her feet.

I look down.

…She is not wearing shoes.

I blink. "Your feet attacked you?"

She nods seriously. "The small rocks outside are vicious."

Adrian makes a noise that sounds suspiciously like a laugh.

I close my eyes and count to five.

Breathe, Hazel, Just breathe.
