Chapter 19 - The Arena, the Power Ranking of the Spirit Academy

The stack of materials prepared earlier took Lu Leng nearly half a month to complete all the training exercises listed.

And this was just the first round of training.

"Do you know why your first spirit ring is a thousand-year one, and your second is a ten-thousand-year one?" Mimi suddenly asked.

"The teacher said it's because of my strong physique."

"That's just the surface. You haven't seen the deeper reason."

"Then what is the reason?"

"Your Martial Soul is a divine-level spirit, constantly tempering your body. Over the past half month, I believe you've already felt it. Through continuous stimulation and training that exceeds your body's limits, your spirit can better refine your body."

"This kind of refinement is excellent. You can feel it in daily life, and the most crucial benefit is revealed when you absorb spirit rings. Having the physique to absorb spirit rings beyond your level is largely thanks to your divine-level spirit. So, as long as you keep pushing your limits, the age of the spirit rings you can absorb in the future will also increase."

"The teacher has said that too," Lu Leng said indifferently.

"But obviously, you didn't take it to heart."

"..."

"I've never encountered a divine-level spirit before. In the records of the Spirit Hall, there are only fragments, and I'm completely in the dark about its functions. But based on the characteristics it has shown so far, I will use all my experience and do my utmost to help you grow." At this point, Mimi face showed a hint of pride.

"These plans are useless now; they can't keep up with your progress. From today, your plan will be updated daily, and you must report to me every day. I need to keep track of your condition at all times."

"Understood, teacher."

Hearing this, Lu Leng couldn't help but feel moved. Mimi was the second person, after Bibi Dong, who treated him the best.

"So, teacher, please go ahead and push me to my limits!"

...

Time continued to fly by.

A month later, the door to room 023 was pushed open, startling Lu Leng, who quickly turned around. "Teacher Mimi, I've told you many times, please knock before entering, okay?"

"You're still wearing shorts it's not like you're naked" Mimi said nonchalantly.

Lu Leng immediately felt a black line forming on his forehead. Mimi was great in every way, but it seemed like she lacked a bit of social etiquette, always barging in without knocking. He wondered if she did this to everyone or just him.

"Today, I have something to attend to and might be away for a few days. During this time, continue training according to my methods. Also, I have a task for you."

"What task?" Lu Leng asked curiously.

"Reach The top 100 of the Spirit Academy's power ranking!"

"Teacher, you're finally letting me compete. I'm so excited!" Lu Leng's face lit up with excitement. In fact, from the first day he entered the academy, he had wanted to compete for a spot on that ranking.

Unfortunately, Mimi had always prevented him from doing so.

"Before, it was because I wasn't clear about your combat experience. After this past month, I've got a good understanding now, so you can go. Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles. Training alone is not good only by combining it with actual combat will you improve faster."

Lu Leng nodded excitedly. "The teacher has said that too."

Mimi chuckled. "You don't remember much else, but when it comes to fighting, you remember it all too well."

"By the way, where are you going, teacher?"

"On a business trip," Mimi replied, then walked out the door. She paused suddenly at the entrance and glanced back at Lu Leng. "Don't worry, I'll be back in a few days."

"I'll wait for you, teacher."

.....

After Mimi left, Lu Leng quickly got dressed and headed straight to the arena hall.

The moment to showcase his glory is about to begin!

Douluo Continent, here I come! The Spirit Master Academy has a total of about three thousand students, with the primary academy making up the largest portion at around fifteen hundred, while the advanced academy is the smallest, with only three hundred or so.

When Lu Leng arrived at the arena hall, he found it bustling with people, a lively and crowded scene.

"Hello, I'd like to participate in the competition," Lu Leng approached the registration desk.

"Name," the girl in charge of registration said, looking at Lu Leng with a matter-of-fact expression.

"Lu Leng."

"Age?"

"Six and a half."

The girl nodded and quickly handed Lu Leng a badge.

"The competition uses a ranking system, with points assigned to each participant. You'll be matched with opponents who have similar points. If you win, you'll take their rank; if you lose, your points will decrease," the girl explained.

"I understand, thank you. When will my match be arranged?" Lu Leng asked with a nod.

"You want to compete right now?" The girl finally showed a hint of surprise on her face.

She sized up Lu Leng, thinking he was just registering for fun. After all, how much strength could a six-year-old have? Many students his age register every year out of curiosity, but it's rare for someone to want to compete immediately after registering.

Seeing that he wasn't joking, her expression turned serious.

"I'll register you for the ranking queue. Once a match is arranged, your badge will notify you. Follow the instructions to join the competition," the girl said.

"Thank you."

Lu Leng expressed his gratitude and then headed to the arena. While waiting, he could familiarize himself with the surroundings.

In the center of the arena was a massive display screen showing the names, ages, and duration on the leaderboard of the top one hundred students. The durations kept changing, except for the top ten, which remained steady.

When Lu Leng saw the name of the top-ranked student, his pupils contracted. The person's name was Jin Zhengyang, aged nineteen, and he had held the top spot for five years!

This meant that if he held on for one more year, he would become a Saint.

"It seems I don't have much time," Lu Leng thought.

In nine months, I must defeat him, or I won't be able to become a Saint.

Just then, his badge received a message.

"Proceed to Arena 29 within ten minutes. Late arrival will be counted as a loss!" Lu Leng immediately headed to Arena 29.

Soon, Lu Leng arrived, showed his badge to the referee, and stepped into the arena.

The arena resembled a martial arts arena but was slightly smaller, surrounded by a light barrier to prevent those who could fly from moving around freely. Of course, "small" was relative—Lu Leng could see Arena 1, which was several times larger than a football field.

After stepping onto the arena, another person soon followed—a girl who appeared to be around the same age as him.

"An easy win," Lu Leng thought to himself with a smile.
