Chapter 48 - Chapter 48 - Golden Waste and a Dragon Slayer’s Fall

Not long after Silver left, I finished my dinner and headed back to the mansion.

Tossing another pouch of gold coins onto the already cluttered table, I dropped myself onto the couch with a tired sigh.

"I guess I really have no use for money in this world…"

As the Royal Accountant, I manage the entire kingdom's finances. Naturally, my salary is generous. But within a year, my table was already starting to resemble a treasure hoard.

_Gold coins, stacked and untouched._

"There's nothing to spend it on… No games, no gadgets, no modern tech."

Just food, a proper bath, and the occasional laundry service—that's it. And none of those are exactly breaking the bank.

_If I were a magician or adventurer…_

I could've spent it on artifacts, enchanted equipment, or legendary weapons. But instead, I'm still wearing the same outfit—cleaned so often it practically never gets dirty.

With those thoughts in mind, I drifted into a surprisingly peaceful sleep.

Meanwhile, as Silver mentioned, the Hero Party had gathered at the Adventurers' Guild for a long-overdue meeting.

Inside the guild's public pub, sitting on one of the tables.

Ramon sat with arms folded, his expression calm but stern.

After a deep breath, he broke the silence.

"After a thorough discussion with everyone… I'd like you to leave the party," he said, voice polite, but firm.

Kyle scoffed. "What's this now?"

Emma slammed her hand on the table, eyes blazing.

"What's this now?! You nearly got us _killed_ in the last dungeon!"

Kyle snapped back, "I _was_ doing my job! I'm an S-rank hunter—I landed several hits on the boss!"

Ramon's calm started to crack. His voice grew sharper.

"Your job? _How_, exactly? By disobeying orders? Rushing in with zero coordination and plans?!"

Kyle rose to his feet, fists clenched, his voice now rising in rage.

"Do you even know who you're talking to? I'm one of the strongest S-ranks alive! I've slain a dragon with my own hands!"

The room fell silent.

Eyes wide, mouths tense. The guild hall, once bustling with chatter, had grown eerily quiet. Everyone began to stare but Kyle wasn't done.

"A _dragon slayer_ like me doesn't take orders. In fact, _I_ should be the leader of this party! Even if you have that divine blessing, Sir Ramon."

That was the last straw.

Ramon stood. His voice was low, but every syllable dripped with finality.

"Get out. Now."

No more diplomacy. No more second chances.

Kyle's face twisted with fury as he looked around—no support, no sympathy. Just cold, judgmental stares from his now other adventurers and the guild members who'd overheard everything.

"Damn you all!" he roared, flipping a chair and knocking over a table.

"You'll regret losing me! Disrespecting _me_ in public!"

He stormed out of the building, rage boiling over.

Back there sitting, Ramon let out a long breath. His voice barely above a whisper.

"Even that ordinary kid with no combat experience was better than him…"

Unbeknownst to him, Kyle had paused at the doorway—just long enough to hear those words.

And as he walked away, his anger only deepened.
