Xavi didn't doubt his wife without reason. He had asked his little attendant, Yuyan, to find out more first.
This was the second time Yuyan had seen Fifth Sister. It was from her that he learned what really happened when He Xiaoshuang met with the head of the Xie family. It was the full, real story.
"As soon as our lady saw him, her face turned dark. She didn't even speak more than a few sentences before scolding him…"
At the end, Fifth Sister kindly reminded Yuyan,
"Don't go back and say anything unpleasant to your master. Don't make it hard for her."
Yuyan looked at the hand pulling on his sleeve, blushed slightly, and didn't refuse. He nodded obediently.
"I understand, Fifth Sister. Don't worry."
It was the first time someone had called her "Fifth Sister," and she smiled without meaning to. She carefully packed a few sweet pastries that most young men liked and sent Yuyan back to report to Xavi.
The sweet scent of lotus osmanthus cakes from his sleeve followed Yuyan all the way back to the Xie residence.
He didn't even realize it, but he was in a really good mood the entire way.
When he returned and finished his report, Yuyan pulled the paper package from his sleeve, smiling as he sniffed the delicious smell coming from the pastries.
Seeing Yuluo nearby, he waved him over.
"This smells so good! What is it?"
"It's lotus osmanthus cake. Fifth Sister from the restaurant just wrapped it up for me."
Yuyan took out two pieces and handed one to his friend.
"This is for you."
Yuluo happily accepted it and brought it to his nose to smell the aroma. Then, with a serious face, he looked at Yuyan and asked:
"Hmm... Yuyan, don't you think there's a strange smell to this cake?"
"What smell?"
It smelled great to Yuyan. He didn't notice anything weird.
Yuluo took a deep breath, moved the cake closer to Yuyan, and gave it back to him. Then he teased with a grin:
"The sour smell of love…"
Then he burst out laughing, "Haha!" and ran out of the room, leaving Yuyan behind.
Yuyan stood there stunned, face turning red. He quickly called out to the already disappearing Yuluo at the door.
"You! I was being nice and sharing food, and you joke about me like that…"
But Yuluo didn't stop. He just added:
"That's from your 'Fifth Sister.' Better not give it to me. What if she gets upset?"
He knew that nothing in the Xie family's restaurant was cheap. You couldn't just take it without paying.
Those cakes were definitely bought with her own money.
When Fifth Sister helped bring the four of them to the Xie residence, he had already noticed how well Yuyan and she got along. Now, they were clearly even closer—close enough to be giving each other pastries…
Inside the room, Yuyan could only hug his sweet-smelling cakes, blushing, and had no way to deal with Yuluo's teasing.
By evening, Jewel returned home tired.
Her gentle husband Xavi, of course, helped her wash up and get changed, soaking in the tub to help her relax.
Since they had already seen each other intimately, there wasn't much to avoid. While Jewel soaked, Xavi gently washed her hair. His soft, white fingers carefully massaged her scalp, making Jewel feel completely relaxed and pampered.
Though she usually didn't let him do house chores, she felt that being bathed by such a beauty was something she deserved—so she happily enjoyed every moment.
Wrapped in Xavi's soft warmth, Jewel forgot all the stress from earlier. All she could think about was her sweet, adorable husband.
Even though Xavi no longer avoided seeing her body, he still didn't dare to look too much. He just focused on rinsing her long black hair with the warm water.
After dinner, Jewel sat seriously on the bed reading a book, while Xavi was at the desk, writing something, looking busy.
A long time passed, but Jewel was still stuck on the same page of her book. She kept secretly glancing at her husband at the table.
Xavi seemed to feel her eyes on him. He shifted his position so his back was facing her.
Jewel watched him for a while, then put down her book, walked over without hesitation, and scooped him up from behind.
"Ah—!"
"Wife!"
Xavi was surprised by her sudden move. She hugged him too fast!
He still had the storybook in his hands!
"Baby, let's rest."
Jewel smiled softly, but Xavi knew that her smile wasn't as innocent as it looked…
"Wife~ I don't want to sleep yet. I… I want to read my storybook…"
Truthfully, he just didn't want to go through another exhausting night. He wouldn't be able to get out of bed the next day…
All day today he had felt sore—his legs while walking, hands while eating, even sitting made his back hurt.
He just wanted to rest a little.
"Storybook?" Jewel pretended to frown.
"Is your storybook better looking than me?"
Did her little baby not enjoy being with her?
"Mm… No, you're more beautiful."
Xavi admitted his wife was very attractive. But still, wasn't every day a bit much?
No one eats heavy food like meat every day, right?
"That's more like it!"
Jewel sat him down at the desk and began clearing it seriously.
Brushes, ink, paper, books—all neatly moved to the side.
Xavi watched, confused.
What was she doing?
Why suddenly tidy up his desk?
Jewel didn't explain. After she finished cleaning, she locked the door, then brought over a pillow and a small quilt, setting them on the now-empty desk.
When the little bunny finally realized the fox was about to strip off his fur again, he panicked!
"Wife, that's my desk!"
That was where he read and wrote!
"So what? Can't we use it?"
The fox queen ignored the bunny's protest and kept smiling as she continued.
Seeing that her little bunny wasn't resisting much anymore, she excitedly leaned in and asked:
"Baby, what page are we on tonight?"
