Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: Team 7

The frontlines had already prepared a campsite for the Konoha ninjas coming for support, mostly grouped within a designated area.

Ninjas are different from regular military troops—they can't stay together in one place. They need privacy and personal space, so tents can't be packed too densely, leaving some room between them.

Since Gen wasn't in a hurry and lazily hung at the back, he was among the last to be arranged.

"Please wait a moment."

Kakashi and Rin turned to look at Gen with confusion.

"Is there something you need?" Kakashi asked, his expression flat.

Because Gen had been walking at the back, they hadn't noticed the fan crest on the back of his armor.

Gen slightly turned to reveal the fan crest, indicating his identity.

"You're from the Uchiha Clan?"

"Hello."

"Hello."

Due to their connection with Obito, both Kakashi and Rin harbored a favorable impression of the Uchiha clan. Without hesitation, they greeted him.

"Hello."

Gen greeted them politely, his gaze lingering briefly on Rin before moving to Kakashi.

Sigh, from the moment Rin was liked by Obito, her tragic fate was sealed.

Though he wanted to change things, his chances were slim. He could attempt to prevent things, but success was unlikely.

One way to keep Obito from evolving would be to kill Rin beforehand, preventing him from witnessing her death.

Unfortunately, this method carried too many risks. Kakashi, Minato, and Obito would certainly spare no effort in uncovering the truth of Rin's death.

Madara would never forgive anyone who interfered with his plans, even if they were from the branch of the Uchiha clan descended from his brother, Izuna.

But in comparison to Madara's plans, what was his identity worth? According to the clan genealogy, Obito was a direct descendant of Madara's bloodline. Wasn't Obito also manipulated?

After Madara's departure, his bloodline was quickly ostracized by the clan, leading to its downfall.

Looking at the family tree, Gen was technically a distant cousin of Obito, though only half a month older. But even by a minute, that made him older.

Madara's personality guaranteed that he wouldn't let him off easily!

Moreover, with so many unusual techniques in the ninja world, who knows what hidden methods Madara or Black Zetsu might possess? Destroying a body and erasing all traces couldn't be guaranteed.

Unless he consumed Rin's soul and erased the body—only then would there be no traces left.

But that would be far too cruel for Rin. If her soul were consumed, she would be forever gone, without even a chance at peace or resurrection.

These concerns were secondary. If it meant avoiding major trouble, like the Nine-Tails incident, he could be ruthless.

The most critical issue was that he couldn't find a way to act without being discovered!

As the key mediator for Obito's complete corruption, Rin's safety was likely being secretly watched by Zetsu.

Gen was certain that Zetsu was hiding somewhere in the camp, perhaps even the original Black Zetsu. But with his current strength, he couldn't detect them. If he couldn't find Zetsu, he couldn't eliminate them—so how could he take action?

For the sake of the ninja world, sacrificing himself wasn't an option. Not for Konoha, and certainly not for his clan.

At heart, he was a selfish person, looking out for his own interests first.

"Why are you staring at me?"

Kakashi felt uncomfortable under Gen's steady gaze, unable to tolerate it any longer. He furrowed his brows and asked.

Gen had actually been lost in thought, but on the surface, he looked serious as he replied, "Your left eye is a Sharingan, right?"

Kakashi raised his hand, cautiously touching his eye socket. "Yes."

"Are you aware of the rules of the Bloodline Limit clans?"

Both Kakashi and Rin's expressions changed instantly.

"Are you here to take the Sharingan back from me?"

Rin clenched her hands anxiously, her voice trembling.

Kakashi's face flickered with emotions, but he finally became resolute. "This Sharingan was a precious gift from Obito. I won't give it to you!"

Gen smiled slightly. "You misunderstood. I'm not here to take your Sharingan."

"I came to remind you that if you want to keep this Sharingan, you should plan ahead."

Both Kakashi and Rin sighed with relief, but a lingering unease still remained.

"Why?" Kakashi asked, puzzled. This didn't align with how most Uchiha clan members acted.

Could it be that Gen, like Obito, was an outlier in the Uchiha clan?

"Because Obito is my distant cousin and, more importantly, a hero of Konoha. A hero's dying wish should be respected."

"Thank you. Do you have any suggestions?" Rin asked, bowing deeply.

Kakashi also looked at Gen with hope.

"The Third Hokage himself personally promised in the Hokage building that he would select the Fourth Hokage."

"After the battle at the Kanabi Bridge, combined with past merits, Lord Minato is already qualified to be a Hokage candidate."

"Even if Lord Minato fails to be elected, he will surely hold an important position in Konoha's future."

"He can negotiate with our Uchiha clan. With a little effort, we should be able to settle things."

"For example, we could select another suitable child from the Uchiha clan to join the Seventh Team."

Upon hearing that someone new would replace Obito, Kakashi and Rin instinctively resisted. But they also couldn't deny that it was a win-win solution.

The Sharingan issue would be resolved, and their teacher might even gain the Uchiha clan's support, improving his chances of becoming Hokage.

They were both well aware of Minato's dream.

"Do you want to join the Seventh Team?"

But Kakashi wasn't easily fooled. He quickly sensed that Gen had other intentions.

"I do, but I'm not sure it will be me."

"The youngest son of the clan head, Itachi, and the rising star of the Mist battlefront, Shisui, probably have a better chance than I do."

"But it doesn't matter. As long as it's someone from the Uchiha clan, that's fine."

Gen spoke sincerely.

Ninjas have to form teams, and with his current strength, he wasn't qualified for solo missions. His leader wouldn't indulge him just because he was from the Uchiha clan.

Since he had to form a team anyway, being Minato's disciple would be the best choice, offering the greatest benefits.

But if that wasn't possible, he had backup options. Considering everything, it wasn't bad.

"What's your name?"

"Gen Uchiha."

"Thanks for the reminder and help. We have other matters, so we'll leave now."

"Please, go ahead."

After Kakashi and Rin left, Gen bent down and entered the tent. He closed the tent flaps, summoned Zhurong, and silently began researching Fire Style chakra transformation.

The change in form didn't require much study. For someone with powerful mental strength and precise chakra control, like Gen, changing forms was quite easy.

After Kakashi and Rin left, they returned to the tent outside where Minato was handling his duties.

Once the duties were finished, and everyone had left, Kakashi and Rin entered the tent to report what had happened.

Minato pondered for a moment after hearing their report. "It's indeed a win-win solution."

"The key is whether you can accept a new teammate replacing Obito's position."

"If you can accept it, let Gen temporarily join your team and see how it goes."

"If you can't, then it's fine. I'm capable of protecting Obito's legacy."

Kakashi hesitated for a moment and then turned to Rin. "Rin, what do you think?"

Since he couldn't make up his mind, he decided to go with her decision.

Rin thought back to Gen's friendly demeanor and handsome appearance, which was no less striking than Kakashi's. Moreover, their team was indeed missing a member. After a moment, she made her decision.

"Obito will never be replaced in our hearts, but having one more person will certainly help with completing the missions."

Indeed, Rin was right—Obito's position would never be replaced.

Even if a new teammate was accepted, they would take up a different role.

Having one more person would also help protect Rin. What if something happened and he was alone?

"Teacher, let him try."

Minato smiled brightly, nodding slightly. "In that case, I'll temporarily assign him to the Seventh Team."
